As you pointed out I made a building mistake, there should be an additional pin holding the 2 main assemblies together at 5:43, so it's not the cross axle only. Still, a single pin is not the safest connection in my book so I think a different building sequence would have been better.

Just finished building this set (that was a gift for Christmas), and I'm stunned by those doors! A really glamorous feature! Having built the 488 GTE last year, I must say that this was just as thrilling. Perhaps more so! To anyone watching this review wondering whether or not to purchase this set, do yourself a favour and get it immediately! Yes, technic can be annoying, but that feeling of accomplishment at the end is priceless. This video is a credit to the set and has given it the spotlight it deserves. Happy building!

Looks like a nice set overall. 1/12 scale allows for just as much detail and mechanical functions as the bigger 1/10 scale cars but at a much lower pricetag. Nice of the designer to make the chassis mostly black/grey to accomodate MOC builders too.
But Lego really needs to sort out their sticker sheet packaging. Sets like this and the 10304 Camaro have stickers loose in the box, while similarly priced sets like Thor's Hammer and the Galaxy Explorer have no stickers at all yet the instructions were still wrapped in plastic bags.

  • @coffeeinhandproductions3238

I'm all for this scale, and functionality moving forward. Looks fantastic beside the Ford Raptor. Don't mind a bit of a challenge, however the troubleshooting involved to build this is somewhat intimidating as I've never been great at technical models. Definitely on the pick up list though because despite some inaccuracies it's a structurally dense model that's looks fairly complete from all angles unlike a lot of the larger scale models of similar piece count like the Ferrari or even Rally car from a number of years back. Definitely excited to see the bat bike, and fire plane, and commentary.

  • @mssm9495

A brilliant set. Lots of crazy angles made in weird ways, that match perfectly with other strange assemblies to amazing effect. The designers must have spent ages working these out. An economy of parts usage while providing lots of detailed beauty and functionality. This is perhaps the "speed champions" of technic. We need more like this.

One of the better Technic vehicles, this one checks a lot of boxes: build process, technical design, finished appearance, functionality, color, and value. Everyone involved should congratulate themselves, and then get to work on more models like this. I think the scale is both pleasing (in this model) and promising (for future models) so I'd like to see more in this scale.

  • @darwinfernandez8069
    @darwinfernandez8069 8 місяців тому +2

This build wasn’t necessarily difficult, it’s more like the instructions were lacking in showing where and how to connect certain sections. It’s not like the Lego app where you can move the model around and see it from another angle to get a better idea of what to connect where. These instructions felt like they either could have used better angles or added an extra picture with arrows pointing to the connecting points. Instead it just shows the piece connected on the model, you then have to find out what pins/axels went into where before attaching it and normally that wouldn’t be a problem but with this set it could have definitely benefited from an extra little red circle or something! But other than that this was an amazing build. 9/10 final build and 9.5/10 building process. Super engaging, not repetitive, and definitely a challenge but a doable challenge. Great job Lego.

Like you said, this build was surprisingly complex. I enjoyed the building process, and given the limitation of parts and scale, the designers did a fantastic job creating a playable and authentic interpretation of the GT. That said-I wonder what’s next for the next 1:8 scale cars, especially with the tougher competition out there in the Technic world. Good stuff! I love it!

I got it as my first technic set and the only lego set I've built other than a rocket MOC since I was a kid, and it was awesome, I only made one mistake where I thought I was missing parts but had done a step incorrectly. My biggest complaint is the stickers, I used a very fine knife to aid in placing the stickers and I did a good job, but it would be really nice if they included a backup sticker sheet in case you mess up. And I will probably sell this set at some point since I'm not a collector, so an extra sticker sheet would help with that.

Racing Brick, that new "double CVD joint" is called a dog bone! These are often used in vehicles (usually not cars) on the rear axle when it's only spring and driven, and not steered. For steered and driven axles, CVD driveshafts are used. Dogbones are also common in RC vehicles. Just wanted to shed some light on this unique piece, love the channel!

Seems like one the best built big technic cars in years. Suprised about the ratio but it does make sense. Way better in every term compared to like the smaller Ferrari. Of course can't compare it to the super cars due to size/opportunity but kinda beats everything else. And still I'm not a huge fan of the original Ford, but as a technic model it's great.

Thank you very much for the insights from the designer's perspective! Interesting to hear that he tried his best to limit the color pallette for the sake of reusability even though the set doesn't have an official B-model.
Also interesting that this is the second time this year that Lego mis-spelled an (ex-)employee's name in an instruction booklet. One is inclined to theorize that this is a punishment for the designers' rebellion against the marketing department ;)

I finally got a chance to buy and build this kit. I love the Ford GT so I had the same criticisms as most people about the overall look being a bit off. The curves of the real car are completely lost. But my main problem is the silly gear sticking out the roof for steering. They could of have engineered a way for the steering wheel to actually turn the front wheels.

Dang that actual size comparison between the Ford with the Ferrari Corse and Porsche RSR is glaring...further evidence of "shrinkflation"...going from apx. 1:10 to 1:12/1:13...might be more appropriately placed alongside The Batmobile for the F&F Dom's Charger :)

This one is not an immediate purchase, but it's massively better than the first impressions of it from the reveal. Certainly much better value than the Ford Raptor.
Like the Bugatti Bolide, it's got flaws with its resemblance to the car it's based on, but I am sure I'll love the build experience of this car, like I did with the Bolide. Not sold on the front end, obviously particularly the headlights, but I like the complexity of the shaping, despite some inaccuracies here and there.
It's a good deal smaller than those 1:10 cars than I thought; tightly packed to be that much smaller with almost 1,500 pieces, even if a lot of them are small. Good more relatively affordable alternative to the bigger but much more expensive ones for sure.

I haven’t played with legos since I was a child 25 years ago, and it was just a big box of mixed pieces but I loved them. Since then I’ve always walked through the Lego sections of dept stores or visited the local Lego store , all just to look around . Did that for years but I just didn’t want to spend the money and I had nobody to do it with .
I’m lucky I met a wonderful woman that loves Lego too . She has me hooked and I impulse bought this set . It was a steal at $120 and almost 1500 pieces and it was also $10 off.
She warned me about the technic sets lol but I pressed on
So technically this is my first real Lego set . No pun intended . I loved every minute of it. It was a great build and genius design to cram so many goodies in to it.
I now have a serious addiction because I’m looking at other technical cars. The Dodge Charger looks great and there are some nice European super cars out there but American cars just look so much better . I might check out some of the second hand dealers holding the good stuff . It’s better than hitting the pipe .
Anyway…..great build and probably an all time classic for quality and value

Yes !! Ford GT is awesome !! I like the 2005 model but 2022 model is actually pretty great. I can see it be more fitting for this Technic scale.

Yeeeeeeeees!!! This is my dream car, and I’ve been waiting for this since the day Ford revealed the Ford GT. I’d be more than happy to buy one if I wasn’t broke

I would buy this set just for that new cv joint at 2:00, it would have helped a lot in some of my MOCs!

Milan will probably make B-model instructions at some point too so you have a fair shot a getting a rebuild option down the line.

Wow, especially that premature joining of the chassis seems like a very rooky mistake... Some lovely new elements in this set. Great looking set as well. Perhaps ill get this one as a big present to myself. God knows I earned one!!

The 7L flip flop liftarm may have come in green, but now it is in what everyone says is a more versatile color in technic, like red, or dark bluish grey. Why is green not a versatile color in technic?

I recently talked to Lego support in regards to some new connectors with axle holes that don't grip the axle well enough in comparison to the old design which had a good grip on the axle and they said it's all normal, you're supposed to "be able to pull out the axle" Problem is not only you can NOW pull the axle easily, it will also come out by accident if you barely touch it. Found this with the tail lights of the recent ATV, just a slight touch of the red connector holding the lights and boom, slides out.
The point is the support team boasts about how important quality is for them and how hard they try to deliver the best quality possible, yet we see so many rookie mistakes like these sets don't already cost a sh*tload of money... Not even mentioning stickers with mismatched colors, multiple tints on the same color parts and so on. What an absolute shame on Lego, pathetic to even hint they care about quality when they give us these types of products.

is there a way to fix it

    • @IvanSlivan

Had the same issue with axels and differential. My solution that partially fixed it with cutting off the end of the dark grey detail where axel is attached (ensure that only like 1mm is cut so that axel does not fall off completely. Also make sure that the detail remains even enough

curious if you swop the wheel arches from the front to the back . Would this not match the side profile of the car a bit better ?

I feel like if they had just gone with the first gt40 it would have been easier and cooler the shapes seem to hard and make it look older than its real-life counterpart

I love this set. I actually watched Ford vs Ferrari while building this. But that brown axle at the top got me really confused and I have no clue what it does; other than it MIGHT connect to the turning. It would be great if someone gave me some advice about that 😁
