This is so true for me. I don't get the music theory, struggle to follow the 7', Dim etc, but I swear blind just hearing Tom talk about his approach and hearing his playing has helped my playing. I play chords and progressions these days that were another planet before I found this channel.

Tom I’ve been watching for a loong time and sometimes just to watch, check the chords and wonder what the fuck it would be like to have those under my fingertips. Now I’m actually watching, guitar in hand and realizing with some effort it can be done. That’s the definition of inspiration. Thank you for that. Hope you stick around.

Some delicate country segues into Todd R... On UK Antiques Roadshow last night in Australia a session player brought in a a 1960's Bartell (California company) fretless electric guitar given to him by George Harrison, and originally owned by John Lennon. It was valued at 3 -4 hundred thousand pounds. Apparently, Bartell gave prototypes to Lennon and Jimi Hendrix back in the day. Never heard of this guitar before.

One thing is very evident- your dynamics and silent spaces, factors rarely appreciated in contemporary music. Often I think music consumers should take a long period concentrating solely on symphonies from the romantic era. Concentrated listening to Berlioz, Stravinsky and Mahler has changed my approach to guitar playing immensely. I highly recommend every picker to do it, players among us with a rock background especially. The second huge benefit is improved pitch. Having started out in 1984, I thought my sense of pitch was in no need of improvement when the 90s came around. Despite that I´m now pushing 50, having Tinnitus my pitch and dynamics is probably 50% better today. Thanks to finally starting loving silence and REAL dynamics in music, although these factors surely exist in popular music (think YES and Led Zep for example and even AC/DC). Regardless, more players posting clips online should really highlight their silence capability- after all, music is a dialogue just like a conversation- there´s no reason to be afraid!

Many of these bonus tracks could be put together to create an album… Your recording quality is fine, the playing and authenticity of the emotional content more than make up for any sonic deficits… i’m a professional recording engineer and mixer, and as much as I would love to mix an album for you, I think you have more than enough to put together a fantastic album to get out on the streaming platforms and limited edition physical copies… you’ve already done the work man, this shit sounds real.

Wow, I just loved that - especially the first beat (up to 1:40). I so admire and appreciate the skill of that slow groove with melody and counterpoint delivered through lovely chords with long soulful pauses resolved by bang-on notes that advance a line - especially as in the walk-up at around :40. Such a pleasure. Your boys will grow up with those sounds in them, and their lives will be richer for it. (I know about that - got a similar gift from my dad. So sweet…) Thanks, Uncle Larry
