Both the live action Grinch movie and the live action Cat In The Hat movie are by far the best live action Dr. Seuss film adaptations. Sure it started the comedic trend the later animated Dr. Seuss films would follow. But these two I feel did it the best. Even with not so good following of the source material they are both very entertaining of their own. I'm not a huge fan of the Illumination animated Dr. Seuss films that we got after Audrey Geisel forbidden future live action Dr. Seuss adaptations on Ted's work because sometimes they can be misguided to the books, the animated TV specials and the first two live action Dr. Seuss films. I mean they did OK but they are not as good as the first three I was telling you about. Other than that the animated Dr. Seuss films did not share the same success as the live action Grinch film or even the live action Cat In The Hat film did. With the animated Horton Hears a Who, The Lorax and The Grinch films which came out in 2008, 2012 and 2018 you can see that it has tons of problems along with not very good jokes and terrible acting. Unlike those three theses two live action Dr. Seuss films works so well they are both hilarious and they have comedy done right. They also took the Dr. Seuss stories and provide their own spin on things without coming off as too cringe-worthy. The changes they made feel more natural and both of them are entertaining enough where I see how well both Jim Carrey and Mike Myers preform. After all both the live action Grinch movie and the live action Cat In The Hat movie are like a cartoon world come to life where you have one world where it's Christmas all the time with a backstory of The Grinch, The Mayor and Martha May when they were kids and another world where it's like Austin Powers because the sets, props and costumes are bright and colorful. Plus they both give you a difference and comparison to both the books and TV specials.
