Holy shit, I just realised the Grinch managed to handmake and weld an angel Christmas tree topper out of near fully metal parts and genuine gemstones in ONE DAY. That is CREATIVE COMMITMENT. Martha would’ve loved it.
She did love it, and kept it all these years, the remains of it were worn in her hair during Cindy’s interview.
The grinch maybe unrefined but he had a bigger heart than the mayor. Martha fell for not only for the grinches muscular strength but saw how big his heart is.
She also loved him because he wasn't like the other kids
Honestly she was as drawn to him physically as he was to her. But yeah his actions finally swayed her over.
Plus the guy is super talented, creative, and intelligent.
And that was when it was 2 sizes too small.

The Grinch’s face at 5:40 says it all. The razor triggered him, the proposal upset him, but Martha May not immediately rejecting it was the thing that finally broke him.
I like to think that because she didn’t reject the gifts outright, it told the Grinch that she had just as much avarice as the rest of the Who’s
Martha didn't say yes right away to Augustus proposal. This whole mess with The Grinch in HIS fault, he had bullied him and everyone made fun of him.

I think the ring on Martha’s finger means she is engaged to be married to the Grinch. It must have been the Grinch himself who made the ring for his girlfriend as he made the beautiful Christmas angel for her in the past. After all he has extraordinary skills, a brilliant mind and a big heart ❤️💫

The craziest thing about this scene is realizing that all the suffocating makeup and prostheses Jim had to wear for the grinch that he could handle as an experienced character actor was intense enough, but the child that played young grinch had to have the same amount of makeup on every single inch of his face and body too, at such a young age. Incredible actor with such strength to be smothered with thick and stifling makeup and still perform so well as a tiny child.
Actually, interesting fact: The actor who played the young grinch (Josh Ryan Evans) was 18 at the time of the movie's release. He looked and sounded like a young child because he had a condition called achondroplasia. Still impressive as an 18 year old, though

This version definitely has its issues, but the trait of the Grinch being a brilliant engineer is a stroke of genius that seems to have stuck to his character since this movie. It makes complete sense and they built his lair in this movie all around that concept.
I believe Ron Howard said they were aware they couldn't top the Chuck Jones special, but they put they put their best foot forward.
It does really make sense for his character because what else would he spend his time alone

On Christmas Eve he assaulted the grinch emotionally in the 3 most sensitive spots.
His insecurity’s on his own appearance which he kept it together and brushed that off though he was angry about it.
Proposing to Martha knowing the grinch liked her and he was still barely in control waiting for the answer.
But worst of all what set him over the edge was the one thing he hated most about Christmas.
Materialism and greed.
And he even went as far as to talk down on Cindy Lou a little girl who just wanted everyone to be happy on Christmas. That's low even for him.

Besides his mothers, Martha May was the only person in all of Who-Ville to actually care for him. And if the Grinch had not started his rant(which was completely justifiable) She no doubt would’ve told the Mayor no, but not tell the reason why because of fear of ridicule. When Martha made it clear that her heart belonged to the Grinch in the end, that was the moment she no longer cared what others would think. She really and truly loved him. 😊💚

I learned something from a video. It’s pretty sad. It’s about something Martha has worn since the Grinch left. It was made out of the gift to the Grinch thus proving how much she loved the gift and missed him.

@@genreproductions2706 it was the small pieces of gems and silver from the angel he made her. That shows that not only did she care for him and felt sorry for him, she shown her devotion to him. Despite the fact he destroyed her gift out of anger from the bullying, she still has her heart for him.
Out of everybody in that class that laughed at The Grinch, Martha didn't. I was disappointed when even the teacher giggled.
