Thanks for making this! For every fan it'll be different - for example, Bend Sinister is my favorite Fall record because I really appreciate how it, more than any other Fall record, maintains this consistent mood and feeling - ominous and brooding. Also, just to nitpick, I think you vastly overrate Reformation Post TLC (which I view as one of, if not the worst Fall record) and underappreciate Light User Syndrome (CHISELER!) Cheers!
I subscribed and liked BEFORE I watched this ! Knowing that I would find it most enjoyable , which I did ! Back in Bristol in England I saw them just twice , the first time was before Brix had joined the group , around the time of The man whose Head Expanded single , because they played that ! The other time was when Brix was in the band , I think that was around the time of The Wonderful and Frightening World of The Fall lp ! They were brilliant both times !
I can't fault a fellow Fall fan for their favorite album choices. There are a lot of reasons to like the Fall, given their continual evolution, and I can appreciate them all. What changed for me, was listening to The Fall on vinyl with a good sound system. There are so many nuances there you don't catch with digital music. Take Dragnet, for example, those songs have a dark, primitive sound on digital, but on vinyl you also have a lightheartedness that shines through, making it a very different experience.
I saw the Fall a couple of times in London, one Bend Sinister tour, can't remember the other, always loved them. I had the 1st two eps, Bingo Master's Breakout and Various Times I think the other one was called, Psycho Mafia, Repetition..... RIP MES... ' I'm city born and bread , too many car fumes in my head' M567 PM , so many great lines. Subscribed.
Interesting ranking. The Fall suffered from some terrible production especially in the later years, as highlighted in this listing. Not always, Your future our clutter was pretty good. Overall I think I'm with you mostly, great to see Slates up there. That was fun thanks.
Interesting and well done. Though I disagree with a lot, I totally understand the sophistry behind the choices. Clearly a big fan. The beauty of The Fall, everyone's got their favorite and least favorite. I also think it largely depends on when you entered the fold. I was seventeen when I bought my first Fall record, Extricate, so that will always rate higher on my list than most.
Sometimes I feel lost in music, so many genres, mark e made them all! Old Gang is an outstanding psych killer in my opinion, not just ok, basically it is all about real RockandRoll even when it’s more electronically you‘ve like 60‘s psych vibes in it! ❤
yOU SOUNDED A LOT MORE PASSIONATE AND ANImATED ABOUT CODE SELFISH COMPARED to middle class revolt, so I find it weird you put it above. Personally I thought MCR WAS one of their weakest . Very interesting.
Witchtrials def top ten early fall best on vinyl dragnet totales turn fall in a hole hex means six eg falls 6th album bang bang the mighty fucn fall cheers mate ..my top 5 hex dragnet slates perverted this nationsshit mite haveto be top tenwnderful frigtening grotesque fall in hole totales palace swords reversed witchtrials lol
So much wrong with this ranking I don’t know where to start. And just far too many glaring errors. “Lost in Music” is a Sister Sledge song and not “Pointer Sisters” 😂
@@veryblueeyes626 Each to their own and all that, but I just find it impossible to imagine how Shift-Work could be anyone's favourite Fall album in a world full of Grotesque, Hex, This Nations and pretty much all other Fall album but yeah, each to their own :D
That was great fun hearing your perspectives on each of these intriguing albums, Tony. Cheers!

Completely agree with this take. Makes me want to experience an unwieldy amount of Peel Sessions via the vinyl format. Now that would be fun.
Ooooh ! Almost forgot about Grotesque !
Gotta be close to my top three and Slates
My favorites 1. SHIFTWORK 2. CODE SELFISH 3 EXTRICATE (SING HARPY (best riff) / HILARY (love the melody) / telephone thing (das fantastica funken) ) 4 REFORMATION POST TLC

Garden i thinkk is their best tack
Everybody with the early scratchy FALL but my vote for best record hands down is CURIOUS ORANGE
yeah systematic abuse blew me away when I first heard it.

Everyone ripped off the fall…..

My least laves are Shift-Work and Reformation post TLC - mostly bland nothingness, lacking personality.
Shift-Work is my favourite! Just goes to show how diverse the catalogue is, truly something for everyone if they want to find it.

Probably the most overrated underrated band ever, sorry to piss on your bonfire
