• Rhythm: The Video Game
Basic Teacher Guide: If you're using this in a classroom or private lesson setting, I wouldn't throw your students into this unprepared. First, establish how exactly you are going to clap/count these rhythms. Do you want the student counting out loud, in their head, using rhythm sticks, playing a concert C, or some combination of the above? My own students use rhythm sticks (drumsticks) while counting out loud. I use this series with 4th and 5th graders.
Level 4 Tutorial: If my students aren't paying attention, we watch this part again. Sometimes I pause and ask a question or two after this section.
Level 4-1: I play and count the rhythms with the video, and my students echo me. With half notes, if students are clapping I have them clap on the first beat and then keep their hands together and bounce on the next beat. With rhythm sticks, I have them tap on the first beat and then slide one rhythm stick across the other on the sustained beat.
Level 4-2: I tell my students to hold up the measure number with their fingers as soon as they know the answer. If more than half of them got it wrong or weren't participating, I pause the video and have them count it out loud a few times to explain why the note was wrong.
Level 4-3: Students count the rhythms after they hear "go!". Don't count it with them, but use the time to look around and assess how many understand the concept.
Pacing: I don't move on to the next level until MOST of my class (80%) is demonstrating an understanding of how to count these rhythms. If they aren't there yet, we'll review and then repeat the video during the next class. If we have to repeat a level twice, we move back by one level.
Fun Ideas: You can make this series into a competition between classes. Which class can progress to the highest level by the end of the school year? I keep a scoreboard on Google Slides, only displaying first place because I don't want to shame a class that is in last place. Maybe give the class in first place at the end of each semester a period of free choice time or extra games that they enjoy. Private lesson teachers can do the same thing, displaying the name of their student who has progressed to the highest level.

So cool ❤
I used to practice before i sleep by listening to your videos, but now my body has adjusted so that when i hear your voice i get sleepy 😟
All part of my plan to gradually hypnotize the musicians of the world to do my bidding.
lol
woohoo i got the half note gem!
Worth exactly 0,000.00$! But the real reward is EDUCATION.
