@ScreamPhynex and I'm proud of you, so very much for how you've been becoming better in real time everyday. You seriously have no idea. Been inspiring me.
Thank you for a great video Question for you If the standing 8 count was discontinued in 1998 why was Fury given a standing 8 count in his loss to Usyk? There was a whole lot of bullshitry going on with that fight that makes me worried about the rematch Cheers Steve 🇦🇺🥊🥊
I'm not him, but the rules state that if the ropes are holding a fighter up (basically if he would fall if the ropes weren't there) he should be counted as down. The referee deemed Fury to be held up by the ropes, so he counted it as a knockdown and gave him the mandatory 8 count hope that helps
I understand that But there have been plenty of examples of where fighters are getting held up by the ropes and having the stuffing punched out of them and the referee hasn't stepped in for a standing 8 count or to stop the fight prior to 1998 before the standing 8 count was discontinued The best example is Ray Mercer vs Tommy Morrison I think the fix was in and the referee saved Fury from a knockout Even with the knockdown one judge gave Fury the win and the other judge Uysk winning by 1 point They did everything they could to give Fury the win without looking like the fix was in Uysk will have to knock Fury out to get the win this time

Really interesting stuff; great video! It's always nice to point out to boxing haters that it is one of the earliest recorded competitive sports.
As an old-timer I thought I knew it all. However this video has educated me.
