      Ha ha, brilliant, I'm glad I've helped. Let me guess... bait too big for the pop up? I reckon 90% of people fall into that trap, so don't feel embarrassed.

      You took the words right out of my mouth Christravis3270! I've been fishing since I was about 5 and I'm over 70 now and I'm so embarrassed that I never took the time to think things through! I have been complacent in my "I've always fished this way" to even consider an alternative! -that's about to change.

    Hi, loved the video and nice to see a multitude of species! I never done pop up fishing before so I ordered all the bits and tried my best to make the rig but I went wrong somewhere and also managed to tangle everything beyond repair immediately afterwards. I'm just wondering if you could make a tutorial making this rig whenever you may get the chance? It would be a tremendous help. Also if you have any tips on preventing the long snoods from tangling, I used the rig foam to store them but I found that the minute I moved everything just went into a mess. Thank you!

      Hi mate (Sorry for late reply!). I must do a video for this rig, that's a good idea.
      Tangles are to be expected with longer lighter rigs, but the more you use them the more you'll get used to them and start to minimise the tangles.

    @karatelofty 11 місяців тому +1

    Very helpful thanks, I'm going to try the rig. Please can you let me know what breaking strain lines you used for snood and mainline in lbs (don't really understand what you meant by .25) 😂

    • @christchurchanglingcentre5428
      @christchurchanglingcentre5428  11 місяців тому

      Hi mate.
      .25 refers to the diameter of the line, so this line was 0.25mm thick. All good lines will have the diameter clearly stated on the pack, so it's just a case of having a look. If it doesn't state the diameter... don't buy it! lol
      Buying line by b/s is incorrect, and sadly something that the tackle trade in the UK has mistaught everyone for far too long! I believe in trying to teach people properly, so please excuse me if I stick to my guns on this one!

    Hi, just catching up on your vids as they’re always quality and really informative. I’m getting ready for the summer fishing and a trip down south. Might seem a daft question but is there any reason why this type of pop up rig would not be appropriate for Chesil or would it only work on certain marks? Pop up rigs? Old debate, but why when trying to get line up in higher water do we use fluorocarbon which is know for its sinking properties. Why not mono or one of the floating lines from freshwater fishing….
    Anyway a lovely video, incredibly informative and inspiring 👍
    By the way I was there in May and that weed was horrendous! It was like over cooked spinach what was it? Spent more time cleaning line than fishing…

    • @christchurchanglingcentre5428
      @christchurchanglingcentre5428  2 роки тому +1

      Hi matey, glad you bought this up as it's a fascinating subject I think. On paper you are absolutely right, fluorocarbon sinks faster than mono, however in real life terms, especially when using lines as light as we are here, it makes no difference. We've been using fluorocarbons for this style of fishing for decades now and they work just fine. That doesn't really answer the question of why though! Which is an odd one as I'm not 100% sure why I do! lol
      I have a lot of confidence in fluoro, I always have, so this plays a big part in it (always use things you're confident in), I also find it tangles less than mono, fine monos are almost too soft at times and will tangle more. You can throw in the argument that fluorocarbon is more "invisible" in water than mono, but if I'm really honest I don't think matters in this country! I don't think you'd notice a difference in catch rates if you fished one rig with mono and one with fluoro, so I'd recommend going with whatever you're confident with (just not Amnesia. Never Amnesia!).

    Great video, you could have your own BBC programme. Have you ever fished the Yuki rods? I've been fishing too heavy for too long and looking for something lighter. What would you personally recommend as a lighter quivertip style rod capable of casting a 4oz in the £100 to £150 price range please?

      I've used a few of the Yuki rods, but not many in that catagory.
      If you want a mutitip quiver tip style rod the Tronixpro Bansai multi Tip will fit nicely into that price bracket. Have a look at the Vercelli Veyron too, not a quiver tip rod but does have a very fine hybrid tip with excellent bite detection, this makes an excellent allrounder for lighter beach fishing.
