    It's been a long journey, and I hope it was fun to tag along on the way! P.S - make sure to watch until the end for a rather big announcement! :)
    Also, sorry for the reupload, the video had a small issue so I had to re-render it.

    As a Japanese speaker, I noticed that your vocabulary is quite advanced. Even as a native speaker, I wasn't familiar with some of the words you used in your video, like 花鳥風月、字形、相容れない、商魂、蠱惑. Although I could guess their meanings based on the Kanji characters, these are still difficult words for me. My suggestion is to try visualizing the meaning of each Kanji character so that it becomes easier to remember the words they form. Good luck!

    As a person who has been playing VRChat for almost 6k hours (and mostly with Japanese people) your Japanese sounds pretty good, I think now it's just a matter of finding a good Japanese friend and exchanging life experiences and other stuff to sharpen even more your Japanese skills and fix some unnaturalities that might happen here and there. But again, that's awesome to hear and see how much you have improved so far.

    • @Synest2
      @Synest2 5 місяців тому +22

      @@oldfab6996 For English speaking people just hop into any world and either approach someone you feel comfortable with or await for someone to approach you... Talking to people in VRChat is (almost) the same as talking to people in real life, only difference being they cannot see you, so it's a "safe" spot for everyone, it takes some courage to approach people, but when you find that 1 person you vibe with, the conversation will flow naturally
      A lot of people will straight up ignore you too, so it's a good training for learning how to deal with rejection, ngl

    Japanese hasn't been the only thing you've made huge improvements on. Your video quality production has also increased markedly. It's a really nice experience visually for this one. One thing I did notice is I did watch your prior videos where you vent into VR chat some months ago, and between now and then has been a huge difference in your own ability to express yourself naturally, and also my own ability to hear and distinguish the accents from everyone else as well as what is being said. While before I very much relied much on your JP subtitles you had put on for meaning and comprehension. This time I actually had spent a good time looking away to eat while watching your video and didn't really miss a beat. I appreciate how you transcribed some of the drunken vocal ticks of people in your JP subtitles though. Also the 草 is a warming touch.
    (masagg was hilarious)
    Anyways, amazing job detailing your journey and I'm sure it'll serve as a inspiration for others. A greatly entertaining video and worth the watch! お互いに頑張りましょう~

      Its actually amazing he managed to pull it off. I've been basically studying every day for the past 7 months or so but there was one time I was sick for a week were I didn't study for 2 days and balders gate 3 were I didn't study for 2 days either cause I was too busy having fun with the game haha. I don't regret not studying those days though, I'd rather not get too obsessed with it having to be every day no matter what. But I am happy that that I got to study all the days I did.

    • @azk9218
      @azk9218 4 місяці тому

      @@Hoppitot yeah, habits are only good when they fit your lifestyle. I found myself taking a few days off from time to time (from learning Japanese) being beneficial, as it allows me to somehow absorb the information I learned in the past days. So even after some time, I still remember words, grammar rules, some kanjis etc. while overloading myself ends up in remembering stuff for some time, but forgetting soon afterwards.

    Im crying rn. I remember watching your video like 3 years ago and I have been following you ever since. There were a lot of ups and downs in my japanese language joruney, and I am kinda regretting rn not pushing through like you. Yes, life was busy and thats why I think I had to reduce my japanese workload,but after all there is always time. Im also fulfilling my dream of going to japan in spring for my semester abroad in Japan. I am so touched rn bc your video was really shaking me/motivating me rn. After I get over this exam season, I really want to immerse myself more, as I have lost passion for Anime, and find other ways. Butt again, my words dont matter, but I am really proud of you and hope to be like you in the future. Thank you so much for your videos. Imma go leave yt and cry more now :,)

    There's something so fun about watching these videos, seeing how far you've come in your learning journey, and being able to compare your journey with my own. I've basically made it a tradition ever since your 3 year video to leave a comment talking about how motivating it is to see what you've done since last time. It's really cool to see what I can hope to achieve for myself, especially when it comes to speaking and listening.
    It's so exciting that you're going to Japan! I was just there a month ago with some friends, and it felt really rewarding that all the time I put into the language could be used everywhere I looked. I wish I had more opportunity to actually speak the language (hard to do that when traveling with people who can only speak English), but it did give me the motivation to practice my output all the more. I made a habit of writing occasionally a little over a year ago, but now I'm making the effort of writing daily. Heck, after watching this video, I feel even more motivated to practice speaking outside of italki lessons, either in Discord VCs or maybe even trying out VRChat for the first time.
    As always, thanks for the motivation to keep on studying!

    There's just something so soothing about watching these videos on a cold evening. I recall pausing the video somewhere in the middle and going outside actively noticing sounds that otherwise get cancelled out during my busy mundane life. Then there's the other relatable factor as well. I myself started learning Japanese after watching your 3 year japanese video and mined my 8000th word just yesterday. Even comparing how much I can understand watching your vrchat sections makes me so delighted that I never regret ever starting or rather am glad that I followed through. Great video as usual and the editing is ever better. Really goes to show how much effort was put into this special video.

    5 years is insane man, I've watched your videos for a while now and its truly inspiring to see you grow. You were one of the main reasons I started learning the language as well and it really made me see the benefits of learning such a beautiful language. I've recently hit my 100th day of learning (although not very consistent). あなたは面白いなヴィデオを作ますです。(hopefully that means you make interesting videos XD)

    Been following your journey for a few years now while I've been learning Japanese myself. I went to Japan earlier this year for the first time in my life and it was truly wonderful. Probably the most planning and preparation I've ever put into a holiday, and I'm really glad I went through with it and don't regret it in the slightest. I really hope you have as special a time as I did when I visited!

    I have been greatly inspired to learn Japanese due to these videos, and this one once again reaffirms its all gonna be worth it lol. The conversations in VRchat seemed so fun to have. I am currently about 450 days in and never skipped a day since starting and I can't wait to get to your level!

    I just completed my first year of studying every day using a combination of Anki, Wanikani, and reading. I've followed the approach of starting with simpler books, Magic Treehouse, Aoi Tori Bunko, etc, which has allowed me to make it through about 12 books in 2023. The site LearnNatively has been a huge help in selecting the right books for my level.
    I have a long road ahead of me, but I'm really proud of the progress I've made. Nothing feels better than reading several pages of a book in a row and understanding every vocab, grammar point (even if it is catered to children 😂). It's very inspiring to hear your progress and diligence over these past 5 years!

    Watching your milestone videos made me start learning mid last year and by Christmas I'll finally be done with the Core 2k/6k deck! I did some grammar and some bit of immersion on the side this year, but not as much as I probably should have. I want to focus mostly on immersion after the holidays (also because I'll be visiting japan in mid february and really need actual immersion to aid comprehension). I'm kind of intimidated by keeping up such a high anki streak though (Mostly took 10 cards/day, and recently started taking 20 cards/day to finish be fore christmas) if I want to add consistent sentence mining into the mix.

    It’s amazing to hear you speak Japanese, your video gets recommended to me by yt like once every year, and I still remember the last time I saw you was when you first started practicing speaking Japanese. I know it’s a bit odd for me as a complete stranger to say that I’m super proud of you, and just seeing your dedication and commitment makes me feel more motivated to learn Japanese as well.
    Also let me reiterate it but god your dedication is so firm, I started learning Japanese this year but I so far have only accumulated around 5-10 hours of learning, I should honestly just listen to your videos while I sleep to soak in your dedication

    Bro you're one of the biggest reason why I started this journey (besides wanting to visit Japan one day and wanting to watch and read Japanese manga and anime on it's raw form) You helped me by motivating me every time you make a video about your Japanese progress. This year 2024, will be my last year in doing my core 2k6k deck since I'm almost done with it with only having 1.5k words left and so excited in doing sentence mining and immersing myself little by little, even though I have a long way to go, I'm still grinding and continuing being consistent and someday I hope to reach the same level as you. Keep doing what you're doing bro!

    Congratulations on 5 years of Japanese Learning! This video in particular is also a lot more "artsy" than previous videos, we the audience can see that youve improved on your video making abilities as well. Congratulations on that too 😆.
    You inspired me to finally start learning japanese seriously for the first time in my life this year, so I have to thank you for that. I don't think I'll be able to get to the level you are now when I reach 5 years of practice, as I put in a lot less amount of daily time compared to what you have but I have the mindset of it being a lifelong journey, so I don't mind taking a bit longer.
    I eagerly await your japan trip video! ❤
