David really fit in with this cast. I did not feel like he was a guest at all
I feel exactly the same! He doesn’t crack or anything and there is such good chemistry.
Agreed. Those are the best hosts.
He was a guest?!?
I very much agree. The likes are 469. Nice.
Yeah, he was great!
"12 hours standing on a bridge saying do it you coward" dang snl really hit me with that one😂
Audience: **sad awww**
(Only correct response during mental health month)
4:09 I'm not the only one who heard him say "fuck" after that, right?
@@lonelyone I think he accidently said 5 again but of course that was the wrong lyric so he stopped himself
You trying to tell us something?
@@lonelyoneThe look of existential dread on his face after he said it was perfect (and also a gut-punch).
the music / melody of this crazy song is actually really sweet
kambermusic absolutely...
kambermusic bring back Folk music?
It's like "The Wishing Boot" ... It's a great song... about a boot that grants wishes and saves lives.
kambermusic I know right!! I was actually getting teary eyed at the end.
@@lindaleelaw5277 Lots of Fantastic Music is already available to check out, the masses don't have to also love it. I am glad that I decided to heavily get into music that came out long before I was born. Every decade has stellar music worth checking out.
“I spent one, two, three years hiding from people I don’t want to talk to.” Girl, same.
It’s been more like 20 for me. I’ve been hiding from people since high school graduation.
I spent 5 years watching SNL.
"I spent one, two, three years hiding from people I don't want to talk to."
"I spent one, two, three years trying to impress my therapist."
"I spent one, two years eating pizza in the dark like there was a gun to my head."
this sketch is way too damn relatable...
Please please please let Peter, Paula & Murray make several return trips to Saturday Night Live! Love this folk trio! Great job, David, Kate and Lil Baby Aidy!! Love you!!
is Aidy still the youngest? even with the new cast members taken into account?
Not the youngest, that’s just her rapper name.
@@jennifergrinder2602 Or Lil' Angel Aidy B
Lil baby Aidy is the biggest of the lot!
Lol I always call her Lil Baby Aidy😂😂😂
"15 years taking birth control to have sex with no one" 😂😂😂 I felt that
Eh, sex is overrated
That's what happens when you have polycystic ovarian syndrome.
Well, this is going to be stuck in my head a total of 5 years.
5 long years waitin for you
5 years..trying to dig this worm out of my ear
Berry Bonaview Lol 😂
5 long years singing "this is the song that never ends. Yes it goes on and on my friend. Some people started singing it not knowing what it was. And they'll continue singing it forever just because this is the song that never ends..." 🎵
could you tell me the song’name?
This is hilarious but it is also deep. Like Bruh I got an existential crisis after this
LMAO. I'm just bothered by the fact he spent more time holding in farts than brushing his teeth.
@@ASMRyouVEGANyet that tooo
Totally agree. Makes me go shit what am *I* waiting for, what have *I* wasted time doing...
This song is amazing! Also Kate did a really good "70s folk singer" voice!
Unfortunately, she was supposed to be a '60s folk singer...
She nailed the look and demeanor as well.
I think she's doing Natalie Merchant.
Come on people. She's doing Mary Travers of Peter, Paul and Mary and she's freakin perfect.
@@kcarkid thank you!!! I just listened to If I Had a Hammer and man these guys were good 👌
“I spent one, two, three years trying to impress my therapist.” 😂😂💀💀
“I spent one thousand dollars on a cat that scratched me right in the cornea.”
I don’t think the audience appreciated that line as much as I did 😂😂😂
I know EXACTLY how you feel
Captain Marvel reference right?
I felt the same way!
It's exactly what happened to me only it was a new puppy, and $1200.
Happened to me too! I cried blood!😂😭
David Harbour is a natural comedic talent. I can see him being a regular host. Kinda like Jon hamm. Let’s hope.
I smell a future 5 timer club member
And he can feel free to host even if he has nothing to promote, he's that good
David Harbour was fantastic in pretty much every sketch of this episode, but this one was absolute gold.
Even if he can't sing ;)
"WOOOOOOOOH!"
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
We need a full studio version of this song.
Maybe a full album from this trio.
“My ugly wife shops too much!” Crowd: 👏🏻🙌🏻👏🏻🙌🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
/r/boomershumor
That character was born in like 1908
Monarch more nose! Phone bad
Leslie Dugger What? 🤔
Alison Grace war good
Liking the song but now I want a version on the song without the audience laughing
@@2bb-2 Agreed.
They actually have good folk singing voices :)
🤘🤘🤘 100% with you. Plus I want an actual Oscar movie to be made and released as well.
Yes!!
"Two years eating pizza in the dark like there was a gun to my head".😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
The feeling conveyed with that brushstroke of metaphor summoned the bile of familiar recognition to well in my bowels.
Not afraid to admit that I've found this song strangely romantic.
It’s most definitely the rhythm
Is it me, or is this better than most songs on the radio?
I will make up lyrics for this song at random times for the rest of my life
This was a pretty damn good song.
When the song in the sketch is better than the musical guest...
Tosh T facts 😂😂
I love every single sketch from this episode
Yes this episode was one of the best ones
SAMEEEE
Right!? This was one of the funniest episodes in recent memory.
kambermusic it was one of the best.
It's not funny stereotyping white men as sexless yet super horny losers with a tiny penis.
Peter Yarrow and his family should sue NBC and SNL!
"12 hours standing on a bridge
saying do it you coward." ..OMG, I'm dead.
Bridge, but yeah.
@@AnitaClue thanks
“Thinkin Maine was a town in Vermont”
Ok, as a native Mainer I gotta say... you’re not wrong.
How does New Hampshire feel about your tryst?
Anthony well you see Vermont is a town in NH😂
Yeah it's accurate
Back in high school, I went on a class trip to France. While we were there, our group ran into another American student group. They were from Maine and were *super* impressed that we were from Michigan! 😂 It was hilarious to us, because we think of ourselves as a nothing state, but I guess Maine is even nothing-er. Lol, for some reason I still remember that.
sharksandsheep we are DEFINITELY a nothing state. I mean sure we have some cool stuff, but we’re so far north that everybody kinda forgets about us😂
Kate and Aidy are friendship goals. You can see how much they love each other and truly enjoy being with each other. ❤️❤️
That birth control joke is a bit too real, I feel exposed.
Yeah I felt attacked
Ian Stiehl ha! Dick isn’t the issue; commitment & trust from the person attached to it is. But I wouldn’t mind the Gold, you can keep the dick hon.
Well we probably wouldn't have known about it if you hadn't said anything, so technically... you exposed yourself. :P
When a song “speaks” to you 🤣
It makes my period less painful, so it’s still helpful 😌
Kate has a lovely signing voice.
So does Cecily Strong. Just ask Pete Davidson 😂
I know you meant to type "singing," not "signing." But the way it appears makes me think of the old expression "a face made for radio." 😁
They all pulled off that creepy vibe while still being so hilarious, I would love their album 😂😂😂
Aidy is perfection in this. "Bonjour!"
"My ugly wife shops too much."
Aaah that's some boomer humour right there.
Manubibi Walsh Jokes like that predate boomers.
It was the boomers parents, the greatest generation, that enjoyed the humor that joke is referencing.
That was considered funny in 1961 if you were a man.
@@Offmedication Sadly, my father STILL thinks it's funny.
Did you hear about the kidnapping at school?
He woke up.
What do prisoners use to call each other?
Cell phones.
Some more boomer humor courtesy of my father...
I could listen to that '5 long years waiting for you' line for hours.
"I spent $1000 on a cat that scratched me right in the cornea."
She probably got it at "Whiskers-R-We". She should have some words with Barbara DeDrew.
The fact nobody broke character is the best part
I love Aidy’s dress. 😳
Smak Parlour Plus Size Hunter Green Plaid She.E.O. Fit & Flare Dress
I knew I had seen that dress somewhere so I searched the internet!
@@bilbobaggins4710 oh my God lol what's actually wrong with you ha
@@bilbobaggins4710 Yeah she is not of the genus bos? I am guessing you are just choosing to be very rude in referring to her weight? Interesting that you would choose to do this. Also interesting that overweight people disgust you so much. Probably the first thing I would do is ask, if I were you, is why? Why am I choosing to get this upset and angry about someone else's weight? I would ask question why I was then choosing, off my own back, to watch UA-cam videos featuring someone overweight, knowing that they have such an emotional effect on me. Lastly I would ask myself why I was scrolling through the UA-cam comments specifically to look for anyone talking positively about the subject of my hate, just for the express purposes of jumping in to tell them how much I disagreed and was repulsed by overweight people. Personally, after all this soul-searching, I would maybe start to question the deeper motives behind my vitriol and need to share it with the world. I would consider how I ended up this way, so angry, indignant and spiteful. I would consider therapy if I could afford it. I would try to reflect on what exactly it was in my life that caused me to become such a hateful person and if there was any hope of change, of living a life unfettered by my boiling, irrational hatred of overweight people.
But yknow, that's just me. You do you.
@The Executioner she still won't sleep with you bro.
She fat.
Congrats on the writers of these skits cause this episode was gold
Future SNL classic right here, ladies and gentlemen.
Straight up
The Scottish Murray Tartan pattern dress was a cool attention to detail...
1:28 As a Mainer, I can safely say, not, we're not a town in Vermont. We're a town in Canada.
“Hiding from people I didn’t want to talk to.” Just today I hid behind a cookie display in the grocery store because I saw a coworker. All in all, worth it.
Peter, Paula, and Murray should be the musical guest next week
“I spent 1,2 years eating pizza in the dark like there was a gun to my head” 😂
How does nobody catch David saying “fuck” at 4:10??? I laughed so hard!
WAIT DID HE? I dident know you could say fuck on snl..?
Ok is it weird I kinda want an album of David, aidy, and Kate as these characters singing weird songs like this?
3:44 is such a weird and specific pull I can't get over it.
I spend one long sunday watching these clips instead of washing my clotes
i have never related to a youtube comment so much in my life. you get it man, and that is rare
Snl is such good Sunday morning watching.
Simply Drug Addict that's actually good. Lol
Pick another day for laundry, my friend.
He spent more time holding in farts than brushing his teeth!
Don't we all. 🤣
Duh
*I still think about it everyday.*
Me too.
*Me too.*
I spent one two three weeks wearing a tampon I forgot I had in there
spit out my drink at that one
Lmao
Lol isn’t that enough time for toxic shock syndrome
Which is odd, because I'm a guy.
The song really could go on for hours.
It's now several hours after this aired & I keep catching myself humming that tune.💙
Don't know who penned it but it sounds like a legit early 60's folk song.
Kate McKinnon has a beautiful voice! Remember when she sang Hallelujah as HRC? Tears were coming out of my face.
David Harbour looks like Ty Burrell in this video😂
Boy Aditya I’m so glad I’m not the only one that saw this 😂
Yesa fatter one
More like sebastian gorka...
Song is actually great
David as a host killed it after long time in SNL i think!
1:21 Me and my fellow introverts

@@thatonegirlelaine 😅😅
*5 years, imaginin'the threesome with my bandmate*
Followed by awkward silence 😂 or may be aidy & kate tried not to break 😂
I read this right when it was sang
Anyone else hear David drop an f-bomb at 4:09?
Levi Tucker Holy shit!
I scanned the comments to see if anyone else addressed this, but felt convinced I just heard things by the lack of confirmation. Thank you. Either it really happened or only certain people can hear it.
@@authoranthonyharrington - went back and listened to it. What you're hearing is him starting to sing the "five long years" line again too soon and cutting himself off when he realizes it's not time yet. I can see why that would sound like an F-bomb.
@@tejaswoman You are sure right! I just listened to it on my headphones and it is definitely a truncated "five".
I suspected I was hearing it wrong, because when I watched it live when t aired, no one else seemed to have been concerned. The audience didn't even react to it.
Thank you!
Legit good song
David is the best host this season yet omg
Kate and Aidy this season keep laughing when they're in a scene together, and I love it!! They're so cute!
I know this song by heart. That’s how much I’ve listened to it 😂
Just realized driving 500 miles doesn't really justify 82 hotels. LOL! I love how silly this is :)
I relate to the Army line. It was more like 16 days intermittently pretending I was sick.
this is hilarious!! Whoever wrote this is genius. 😂
3 years, waiting for my dad’s approval
After waiting/trying for 40 years for my dad's approval, I realized that I was never going to get it (yeah, sometimes I'm a slow learner lol). Truth is, your dad doesn't approve of *himself*, and he's projecting/taking it out on *you*. Work through the hurt feelings with a therapist and then live your life as *you*. Good luck, and all the best... :)
Every line is quotable 😂😂
So funny, they really capture the PPM VIBE
Kate is so talented, she's always amazing!
"5 years imagining a threesome with my bandmates" the pause afterwards tho had me cracking up 😂😂
🎶"I Spent 5 Minutes & 15 Seconds Tryin' To Figure Out Which Chick Was Named "Murray" 🎶
i honestly wish this song was on spotify i would totally listen all the time
it's enough to make a grown man cry...
...of laughter
4:10 Perfect F-bomb by Harbour 🤣
Though, of course, it wasn't... It was him cutting himself off when he realized it wasn't time yet to sing "five long years."
"5yrs imagining a threesome w/ my band mates" 😂😂😂
How they didn't break character, I'll never know because I was cryin'😂 😂😭
This sounds like a deleted song from "A Mighty Wind".
David Pumpkins Jr. I love this comment. And your user name.
Probably a group that had a different manager.
That awkward pause after the threesome with his bandmates line, that killed me
My parents listened to the real "Peter, Paul & Mary" in the 60's.
They loved the band!! This sketch does justice to the amazing trio!
eating pizza in the dark like there was a gun to my head...MEEE!!
Its hilarious and actually a really deep song. One of those rare moments when SNL steps out of it's comfort zone to give us another side and it worked beautifully. They're bringing the heat this season. EDDIE MURPHY!!!!
Sadly, the first wave of the pandemic knocked it down. The season did redeem itself with SNL Stays at Home, but seasons 46 and the current one (47) are making up for time lost during season 45.
Snl has been on point this season
12 hours standing on a bridge thinking "do it you coward"
This may go down as an under-appreciated sketch. Well written!
I REALLY want more from this band. Also, Kate REALLY suites that look (well, she's beautiful and suites every look, but I like this aesthetic)
Spent 4 minutes and 50 seconds chuckling at this skit and song... Just. Brilliant.
Gonna love this song for the next 30 years or until my impending stroke... whichever comes first!
One of the all-time funniest SNL skits I've ever seen!
When I was moving to Maine for school, I shared the news with my friend. The real news for her was that Maine was in fact a state. It would have been cute if she were say 5. She was 22 at the time.
This is legit the most soothing thing I've heard all day.
'I spent 1, 2, 3 years hiding from people I don't wanna talk to'. A mood.
"I spent 1 2 3 years trying to impress my therapist" SAME
And here I thought Camila Cabello was the live performer this week...
david harbour is awesome! haha i need to see him in more stuff
wow they sound great together! Idc what they sing about, I want more! 😂
They have so much emotional baggage 😂
So glad to see that Kate and Aidy didn’t turn this into a gigglefest.
Paul has spent *FoUR* years trying to hit that note but never getting it.
I like how David says 4 years
I really like the melody of this song.
I'm just glad that, statistically, there was at least one person in the live audience who was desperately holding in farts when David gave that line
This was impeccable ! The comedy & talent & authenticity of what they were getting at ! It all WORKED ! Yes ! Yes ! Yes ! One of my favorite sketches from SNL EVER !!!!!
i spent so much time searching for the 'original', SO sure it was based off a preexisting song because it was THAT good. that melody, ugh, *chefs kiss*.
