7.33 in the 1/8 isn't bad. I have an all cast, 2 bolt main, cast crank with cast flat top pistons 350 I am putting in my 89 camaro looking for 6's in the 1/8.
Exactly right. I love budget street builds. I've built all out strokers in the past, and I found a budget combo that put a bigger smile per dollar than the stroker. The stroker was faster, but it sure hurt the wallet when the 5 rod let go and exited the block.
I know and a lot of people spend tons of money in suspension to when all you need is it good old soggy G-Body suspension the weight transfers to the back perfectly and you get out of the hole
We ran 7.2 with a 350 straight out of the junk yard with some cheap Promaxx heads, 480 lift cam, and 150 shot in a 80 Trans Am. In horrible 95+ degree Texas heat at 1700' elevation.

I bet it's a 268 or 274 cam. I'm swapping my 186's out to vortecs at some point. I've yet to run it down the road tho. Car craft built a 355 with vortecs, rpm air gap, xe274 and made over 400hp and 440trq. Throw a little spray in the mix with a decent stall and gears and it's a recipe for a deadly sleeper.
I'm just assuming since he said it was under a .500 lift. If the vortec heads still have the 1.94 intakes, then .495 lift or so is about the optimum for those valves. An xe274 comes in with .487/.490 lift. That's why that article build was so efficient. It's not about throwing the biggest cam in a small block, it's parts matching. That's why I went with the xe268 on my 186's. I'll jump up to the xe274 with a head swap. It would be great to have some specs on his build because it looks like a really good street build. I wonder how much spray was being ran?
Yeah, they sure wont. But for around 160 bucks you can put LS6 springs on them from summit. 12499224 Chevrolet valve springs.- $60 bucks 787-16 Comp cams retainers- $52 bux Comp cams valve guide cutter- $47 bux That's what I'm doing to do to my 062 heads. I want to get a E.T first on the 186 double humps first so I can see how much difference there was on paper between the two.

Oh and a 2200 stall

That's so awesome. Id love to see an interview with the driver and get some more info on the build. Very cool car! Going fast for cheap is dope!
that 355 doing its damn job i tip my hat to whoever built that motor
