    Nice to know you were open about your preference and style but still didn't find neo80 to be very distracting. It is just awesome to see so many features cramped into this keyboard for such affordable price. I do feel like the tungsten switches can be overpowering, regardless I did see other reviews mentioned the same thing that different mounting option provide almost the same sound with just minor differences. Glad you pointed out the tolerance issue and the quick fix.

    the gasket at the corners and the foam at the top and the bottom preventing the top piece for touching the bottom piece is technically correct.
    The real purpose to force break the top and bottom piece just to make alleviate case ping.

    I want that purple, but the purple case on the site looks waaaay darker than the one in your video. So might have to go for Lilac I guess

    Thanks for thr excellent video, ordering mine next week for my new office keyboard! Is there a particular mounting method youd recommend to optimise a silent build?

    • @hardlinenexus
      @hardlinenexus  5 місяців тому

      Mounting style won't matter as it will have little to no effect on silence, just get silent switches

    Thanks for this high quality presentation. What were those LEDs and the switch at 5.42? (not the 4 ones together, the individual ones)? Or was that on the previous versions? It made me wonder if there's a caps lock on indicator led or any other LED apart from the right hand cluster.

    • @hardlinenexus
      @hardlinenexus  7 місяців тому

      Switch is for wireless mode you have to turn on. It was in previous models too. Individual lights are capslock indicator (should be because it's right under the capslock key), and the other one on top is for ESC key. Not sure why ESC needs LED actually, might be an indicator for something else. I'll have to ask. Thanks for bringing it up.

    Unless you’re buying several PCB’s and plates and swap around then the life time is reduced..all these catch ball systems are fine but a consumer should be able to buy extra like buying more gaskets more screws and so on..everyone reading this thank you for)r your opinion but I’m a customer having two of them so thank you for your opinion but it’s not helping me in real life..

      @@realandrisbiedrinsdo you know the cycle 7 or upcoming cycle8 keyboard ? The guy behind those boards swore off using this ball-catch system. it's not without it's problems according to him. For me as a customer that bought 2 neo80 boards and plan to use them as test beds swapping out configurations often i am worried about the longevity of this ball-catch just google "ball-catch" and you see people recommending other systems for cabinets that's where this originated the use in keyboards is relatively new

      @@albinohopper45 who are you calling dummy you child do you really think i would not think of this ? I already contacted them about this months ago. So they probably added it because I also raised rhe point on their discord server lastly they told me they can’t include the parts with the keyboard so they will have to send them back after the GB ends meaning high shipping fees i payed $62 for shipping of the board. With one extra plate the board is going to cost me around $300 so I’m not looking to add another $50 to a so called budget board. This $300 is including a small customs fee and vat so the board could turn out even more expensive if they decide to charge me more have a nice day and next time don’t assume so much

    They thought of everything except the split spacebar :( otherwise this would have been the perfect TKL especially with all of the case's mechanical features. I ended up ordering the Zoom TKL which is the only wireless, hot-swappable, via-programmable TKL on the planet with a split spacebar. However, this seems to have a better case design. So disappointing!

    Hotswap sockets are not reliable.
    My Rama M65-B has a Wilba hotswap PCB.
    I changed switches about 5 times and already some pins need to be bent slightly off centre to make proper contact otherwise some key presses are intermittent.
    Nothing worse that being in mid game and pressing a key that doesn't respond.
    Hotswap sockets are a gimmick that will backfire eventually.
    The only true connection is a solder connection.
    Thankfully when I bought my Rama M65- B I ordered a few solderable extra pcb's

    • @HoodSwami
      @HoodSwami 10 місяців тому +8

      Eh I gotta disagree. I feel like this is mostly just an issue with Rama/Wilba products and not hotswap sockets overall. I’ve had like 10 different hotswap boards now and none have ever had an issue with the pins not making contact with the sockets

    • @frankhoang9819
      @frankhoang9819 10 місяців тому +1

      Could be your product. most people use hotswap rather than solder. I never had this problem when i do it.

    • @frankhoang9819
      @frankhoang9819 10 місяців тому +1

      maybe check your plate and pcb, are they properly aligned well together? Could be why your switches pins keep getting bent when you put it in.

    • @hardlinenexus
      @hardlinenexus  10 місяців тому +5

      Technically speaking, if you had a very large sample size of each, solder would yield a better connection purely from the physical aspect of assembly yes. But I'm going to say the reason why I chose hotswap for content is because should I ever need to test multiple sets of switches and configurations, this is where it comes in handy. Have you ever tried soldering and desoldering an entire TKL set just for sound tests on 5 different plate comparisons or 3 different sets of switches and various combinations of each of the 3 foam pieces? Even doing this for hotswap is terrible and consumes a lot of time. So the thing is you try this with hotswap and figure out what you like best, and then you buy the solder PCB to solidify the build. However, I will also agree with what @hoodswami who already commented that some brands have lesser quality than others.

      I can safely say the best spacebar for neo boards from my experience so far are from the softer plates like polycarb and pom. Add some nixies or HMX switches and it punches waaaay above its price tag
