I think something that can really make sense of the entire movie is if you notice that Alex is basically a stereotypical American: optimistic & carefree. Henry is depicted as a European stereotype: traditional & a realist. Yes, it's dumb for the royal family to not accept LGBT family members but those members also need to produce heirs. As Henry said, "I have CENTURIES of history weighing down on my shoulders." Even if Alex's bisexuality cost him his mom's or his own future job prospects, he will always have his supportive family. That's why Henry says he [Henry] "cant afford to be reckless"- as far as he knows, only his sister will be in his corner. This movie is a cheesy & adorable rom-com but I also think it's a real jewel box - there these little gems like the chemistry of the leads, the texting transitions, lines in the script, etc. ❤
You're terrible at this, you made so many pre judgments before getting to the scenes... And plus you missed out on the love scene... And then you wonder why they fell asleep
actually, Alex's character in the book is a lot more complex. here he's been shown as a happy an carefree guy, but in the book he's a bit more troubled. most of the book reflected Alex's development, while a lot of the movie focused on Henry and the royal family. If u haven't yet I highly recommend you read it, according to majority opinion, it's better than the movie. this movie is a great adaptation though!
Her southern accent in this case is kinda relevant to the story and is written in the book. She comes from Texas and still managed as a progressive woman from Texas with a biracial family to be elected and supported by her home state.
She actually DID make a slideshow about Alex dating Henry. Her main concern was if he was using government funds to go visit him (no), and taking him off her campaign.
That is one of my favorite scenes in the books. She sends him away for a few hours for him to come back to a slide show titled "EXPLORING YOUR SEXUALITY: HEALTHY, BUT DOES IT HAVE TO BE WITH THE PRINCE OF ENGLAND"@@MoviesinDepth

Great react video, watched a lot of them, but yours is one of my faves. Some fun facts. The scene where Zahra barges into their hotelroom is mostly improv by the actress. Great job! Loved your positivity! My favorite scene is the one in the hotel room where Zahra freaks out on Henry and Alex. their comedic timing is excellent! Followed closely by the next scene with Alex and his President mom.
Of course I love this movie!! 😀 Also loved your commentary and reactions. There are so many wonderful moments in this, and elements to it, as you noted. Thanks for doing this movie.
I appreciate you calling out that henry is still wearing his jacket in that first love scene. I love this movie, and so so much of what they did, but that henry's bowtie apparently didn't even get loosened in that scene bugs the heck out of me! I can totally buy henry getting * right* down to business before alex changes his mind, but with him not even being rumpled it looks like alex did not a single one of those bad things he promised.
I've got an opinion on that. I think Henry would be so wary of being caught that he would habitually button up and straighten his clothes immediately after.
It’s very American that you assume red white and blue is America when lots of colonized countries have those colors 😭😭 also it’s so refreshing seeing a Latino bisexual man proud of himself 🥰
I love this movie! I’ve seen it at last 20 times and have watched many reactions. I really enjoyed your reaction, sense of humor and supportive commentary! Thank you!🥰🥰👏🏽👏🏽
Thank you for that hilarous react ! Some thoughts : Henry is the first to realize his feelings at new year's eve party (They used the same music for Alex in the karaoke scene.) I would have love that Henry explicitly said it to Alex during their talk. A gay prince, especially the spare, could be a political problem for the crown. He is in 2d position in the line of succession, and this may create issues for the Anglican church as for some Comonwealth realms. Beyond that, Henry being in a relation with a politician like Alex would be the major issue. Royal Family members have to be apolitical (sorry for poor english, I'm french)
Loved this movie❤ especially its message of “coming out on your own terms”. Recently people have been digging up stuff that Taylor Zackhar Perez (Alex) has been married to a man for years. And it is so sad that the message of the film has been ignored.
@@MoviesinDepth this is definitely a good one to add to the collection! When I picked it up to read I didn’t even notice I had read almost 4 chapters in one sitting! The flow of the story is just so goood!
@@MoviesinDepthI highly highly suggest getting the collectors edition of the book because it has a epilogue chapter that is in Henry's perspective. The book is exclusively at Alex's perspective.... So to be able to get Henry's perspective is a really good addition and an absolute must read in my opinion but maybe it's just because I relate to Henrys' mental health struggles significantly more than I do Alexs'. 🤷♀️ Apparently, there isn't really that much of a difference price-wise with the standard version or the collectors.... So yeah, I highly highly recommend the collector's edition, if you are to get the book. It's absolutely worth it.
I love this movie so much! I think I have the storming of the castle scene memorized lol When I got the notification about this video I took a break from work so I could see it immediately! 😀
I finally watched this film over the weekend. (Both the political aspect and the royalty aspect don't interest me so I kept putting it off.) I repeatedly heard good things about this film, but no one ever mentioned anything about their "moment". I am so happy that you had the same "Are they really having a "moment" while dancing to "Get Low" in this film?" reaction as I did. 😆
16:30 You do know that face! That's Stephen Fry - a very known british actor. He was the mayor of Lake Town in the Hobbit and the voice of the principal in Heartstopper S1. He is also gay as a maypole. 😂
18:12 - So, one minor gripe, the prince appearing at a political campaign event would be HIGHLY inappropriate due to any perception of the royal family endorsing said candidate. If I was the Prince's PR person I'd advise against being with the campaign or at their events in a public setting.
Will have to skip this commentary for now as haven't seen the movie, yet. But just stopping by to show some love for one of my favourite channels and to also help with the algorithm. 🧡
75,000 pounds and 75,000 dollars are not the same and Madame President is from TX which, while in the south of the U.S., is a very different accent than those in Southern states.

If you're up to reacting to more TV shows, I would recommend Young Royals. It's pretty similar to this, except the story is more mature and heavy, since it isn't a comedy. It is in Swedish, though. The third and final season is coming out early next year (hopefully).
This is the start of the Author's Note in the book: "I came up with the idea for this book on an I-10 off-ramp in early 2016, and I never imagined what it would turn out to be. I mean, at that point I couldn’t imagine what 2016 itself would turn out to be. Yikes. For months after November, I gave up on writing this book. Suddenly what was supposed to be a tongue-in-cheek parallel universe needed to be escapist, trauma-soothing, alternate-but-realistic reality. Not a perfect world-one still believably fucked up, just a little better, a little more optimistic. I wasn’t sure I was up to the task. I hoped I was. What I hoped to do, and what I hope I have done with this book by the time you’ve finished it, my dear reader, is to be a spark of joy and hope you needed." While there were significant changes in the adaptation process, I think it did well to hold true to the intention of the author.
I'm reading the book and I hope in the future we get a series or something with more history and budget 😂 I love the movie that much that I ignore the mistakes and the green screen lol. My dream is that the people who make heartstoppers take this history and create a series too 😢 is so good I need more 😭 an animation, something But I really love this movie though ❤
The irony of the casting is that, unless I'm mistaken, the two principals are both straight. On the other hand, the man playing the king is Stephen Fry and he has been out for many years.
Ah yes it's always nice to see allies watch this film, there's been a lot of them that apparently didn't know we are able to have sex on the missionary position so... it seems this movie is also informative xD

I watched the movie and became an emotional wreck at first then read the book to fight the hangover and I’m still not over either the movie or book
0:30 Taylor Zakhar Perez 0:38 from Love Victor
She's from love victor, not riverdale
Great job! Loved your positivity! My favorite scene is the one in the hotel room where Zahra freaks out on Henry and Alex. their comedic timing is excellent! Followed closely by the next scene with Alex and his President mom.
Honestly did not expect the king to be played by legendary British actor and gay man Stephen Fry
Of course I love this movie!! 😀 Also loved your commentary and reactions. There are so many wonderful moments in this, and elements to it, as you noted. Thanks for doing this movie.
Loved your energy while watching the movie.
I absolutely loved your reaction 🥰
ISTG… if I see ONE MORE RWRB reaction video, I’ll just have to watch it and EXPLODE with 😅😊! …….Love them all!😂
The boys are so pretty.
The given referenceeeee 😭😭😭😭
Sir, I'm too tired to be hype about this..... Sike LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOO🥳🥳🥳🥳
THE LEGEND ZZZZZZZ
How could not include Henry and Alex emerging from Buckingham Palace to greet their supporters???!!!!
Yesssss
I've got an opinion on that. I think Henry would be so wary of being caught that he would habitually button up and straighten his clothes immediately after.
@@akinpawsHe did have a satisfied smile on his face. So something could have happened.
It’s very American that you assume red white and blue is America when lots of colonized countries have those colors 😭😭 also it’s so refreshing seeing a Latino bisexual man proud of himself 🥰
I completely agree lmao and YES
You should read the book this is based upon. Their love story deserves to be appreciated in full.
My library is hurting from too many books but what’s one more to the pile lmao
I think I have the storming of the castle scene memorized lol
When I got the notification about this video I took a break from work so I could see it immediately! 😀
You are a LEGEND!
Young Conan!
had to watch your review again lovebthis movie and u
finally, Conan O'Brien reacts to Red, White & Royal Blue. What a treat!!!
It's such a wonderful rom-com.
16:30 You do know that face! That's Stephen Fry - a very known british actor. He was the mayor of Lake Town in the Hobbit and the voice of the principal in Heartstopper S1. He is also gay as a maypole. 😂
you should watch the movie bottoms next! it’s the absolutely chaotic queer romcom that the world has been waiting for
18:12 - So, one minor gripe, the prince appearing at a political campaign event would be HIGHLY inappropriate due to any perception of the royal family endorsing said candidate. If I was the Prince's PR person I'd advise against being with the campaign or at their events in a public setting.
Henry dad is played by the
Actor STEPHEN FRY who is
" Gay" himself seriously true
bro .
Great reaction! The film really was beautiful. 🇺🇸 ❤️🇬🇧
Will have to skip this commentary for now as haven't seen the movie, yet. But just stopping by to show some love for one of my favourite channels and to also help with the algorithm. 🧡
Thank you so much!!!!
75,000 pounds and 75,000 dollars are not the same and Madame President is from TX which, while in the south of the U.S., is a very different accent than those in Southern states.
If I remember correctly, the actor who plays the british King in this movie is gay himself.
I absolutely loved this movie and the book was amazing! My new favorite part of the movie is the dance party simply because of your reaction to Get Low!! Lol! Could not stop laughing!
Thank you so much for watching!! 😂
If you're up to reacting to more TV shows, I would recommend Young Royals. It's pretty similar to this, except the story is more mature and heavy, since it isn't a comedy. It is in Swedish, though. The third and final season is coming out early next year (hopefully).
THE CUT TO MAFUYU’s SONG TOOK ME OUTTTT 💀💀💀
The Given fans are here and I LOVE IT
NEED A SEQUEL TO THIS FILM ❤
The cake would be $92,500 in today's US dollars.
taylor zakhar perez is a truly stunning stunning man
NOT THE GIVEN CLIP 😂😂😂 That was my first yaoi hahaha
You have TASTE
Dresden 😎 😅😂❤
9:05 You are the first guy I’ve seen react to this movie that understands that look! It is sexy and highly effective lol
YUP
Where’s Rodrick rules????
This is the start of the Author's Note in the book:
"I came up with the idea for this book on an I-10 off-ramp in early 2016, and I never imagined what it would turn out to be. What I hoped to do, and what I hope I have done with this book by the time you’ve finished it, my dear reader, is to be a spark of joy and hope you needed."
While there were significant changes in the adaptation process, I think it did well to hold true to the intention of the author.
I'm reading the book and I hope in the future we get a series or something with more history and budget 😂 I love the movie that much that I ignore the mistakes and the green screen lol.
My dream is that the people who make heartstoppers take this history and create a series too 😢 is so good I need more 😭 an animation, something
But I really love this movie though ❤
The movie was a VIBEEE
The irony of the casting is that, unless I'm mistaken, the two principals are both straight. On the other hand, the man playing the king is Stephen Fry and he has been out for many years.
you should totally watch YOUNG ROYALS
13:45 Omg I didn’t even realise the connection.
Dresden 😎 😅😂
Help me Jesus!! HAHAHA! im so dead lol lmao
Are you planning to do hotel Transylvania 2
Omg yes, thank you so much for doing a commentary video on my favorite movie!! It made my day, appreciate you MID!! Sending love!! 🤩🎉🤗❤️🏳️🌈
I’m so happy you liked it!!
Ah yes it's always nice to see allies watch this film, there's been a lot of them that apparently didn't know we are able to have sex on the missionary position so... it seems this movie is also informative xD
It def gave me my answer of who was the top and who was the bottom in this relationship 😂
@@MoviesinDepth the book gives that answer multiple times... xD
You definitely need to read the book now! It has way more depth and there are definitely certain things I prefer in the book lol
God I love this, love is all.
