It's the best rod.for the money for sure. I prefer my st croix rods, but I absolutely love and appreciate uglystik for several reasons. Its what I grew up using, and they did a hell of a fine job with the lite pro. I like the bit where you said to support local bait and tackle shops. The ones around where I live are struggling and I make an effort to support them and buy my tackle and gear from them over online retailers.
Just bought a pro lite at Walmart today. A 6’6 medium to go with my Sedona 2500. The first ugly stick I ever had. After listening to your review I feel much better about my purchase. I do a lot of pond fishing. Can’t wait to use it! I’m also a new subscriber, thanks again!
I’ve had that exact lite pro for 6 years now. Still using it every time I get out there. I haven’t bought a rod in years but soon I’ll be getting a new ugly stik.
My dad uses his here in Tx for slot resdish/speckled trout/sheepshead/flounder. Matched with a Stradic 3500. Has no problem. Has pulled out 34" reds with it.
Came across this rod for 35 bucks couldn’t turn it down decided to check out other peoples feedback on it and after watching this I’m sold on keeping it. Thinking about throwing a bait caster on it
I just picked up an ultralight pro at my local Walmart and was blown away with the build quality and action of the rod. I have a St Croix ultralight and a Berkeley Lightning Rod in an ultralight and I can say that the action on my new Ulgy Stik ultralight pro is the best. 👍🏽
Great review. After watching your video decided to pick one of these rods up in 6’6” medium to pair with my Daiwa Legalis 2500 reel. Realized they have discontinued this rod model but was lucky enough to find one with some searching. Keep up the great content.
My primary spinning setup is a Daiwa combo. However, I also carry a Shimano Sedona on the ugly stik lite pro. Like you, I am very satisfied with this rod.
Love the review bud! True and honest. I too am becoming a believer in budget rods, particularly UGLY STIKS! I own numerous U-stiks old and new. Just purchased this rod again off eBay because of your review...Thank you. Ugly Stiks work, they perform, they build confidence, and they last! I just subscribed! Nice job bro... I’d love to fish with you. If you’re ever in Vegas, drop a line or two into Callville Bay, Lake Mead... it’s wonderful. Thank you. Great review!
Good video man I love ugly stick rods I have about 15 of them they are incredible I have not been able to break one yet even my older one are kicking butt after all these years they are awesome keep the video's coming brother tight lines👍😁❤❤
Good video! I know your new to you tube keep it up! Only suggestion is to soften the cuts between takes other than that I'll be looking forward to your other videos
Thank you sir for the video. I was debating today whether to purchase this rod or the Berkley Lightning Rod and you have helped me with that decision! [SUBSCRIBED] 👍🏼
Bro you just got a new subscriber. I Like Your video I just started buying ugly sticks so I dumb a little look around and you popped up and you gave me all the information I need it. Keep up the good work I just subscribed to your channel and imma keep a lookout for your videos. keep it poppin bro keep it poppin.
I have a 5' Ugly Stick Lite Pro Graphite Rod with a Pflueger Trion #20 spinning reel and a 7' (2) piece Ugly Stick Lite Pro Graphite Rod with a Pflueger Trion #35 spinning reel. I use the 5-foot rod when ultra Light fishing. I use the 7 ft rod jig fishing.
Great review, found this video b/c I bought this rod last night and I wanted to see what folks were saying about it. I'm gonna fish it soon, but based on your background work, I trust it was a good buy. btw, my local bait shop didn't make it, so it gone. Keep up the good work!
Awesome video man. Just bought one at my local Walmart. Can’t wait to try it. I only use lews spinning and baitcaster reels but the rods lately tend to break hence why I just bought this.
I've been looking for a 5" ultra light rod for weeks. I picked up this rod today at Wal-Mart ? And could not believe, I finally found my rod. 42 bucks? Ya done.
The kayak ugly stick is a beast, for a tiny rod I know people who caught smoothhounds on them here in the uk the rod is a one piece less than 4ft strongest little rod I've ever seen
I just saw somewhere these were discontinued. Saw some at my local Walmart and had to grab one. Reminds me of possibly a cheaper guides version of the Ugly Stik Inshore Lite from a few years ago, hands down my most favorite rod. The inshore lite was probably one of the best ugly stiks I thought. Soft tip like how you describe with a stiff backbone. The cheap design made it insanely sensitive. Soft tap from a fish would make the tip vibrate "ba dummm". Caught everything from bass, channel cats, crappie, and carp. I'm hoping this lite pro will be the same. I might go grab another from the walmart before they're gone. Haven't tried out the lite pro I just got but after watching this video I'm looking forward to it
@@OntheCreek it's been good so far. Since it has bigger guides than some of my other rods I've made it one of my main slip cork rods with minnows, shad, and jigs. Caught plenty of bass, crappie, and catfish. Have it paired with a Daiwa Laguna
First of your videos to see. Guessing your name is Ben. I like your channel and hope you continue. Thanks for the review. I actually picked up a 6'6 M today from WM along with a 6' M GX2. Not sure which one yet is going back. Kinda leaning on keeping the GX2. The Lite Pro does cast a little further but not by much. I only throw 1/16 oz crappie jigs and catch a variety of species, but not cats except for bullheads and they'll bite anything lol. I'll let you know which one I decide on keeping. Name is Roger and I'm in Western Chicagoland.
my name is Justin I never thought to introduce my self in my intro but I guess I should start thanks for pointing that out. I do plan on keeping this going and trying to grow this channel. Fishing has been my passion for as long as I can remember and I like to share what I know with others. My goal is to release at least 1 video a week on Fridays at 3PM. I'm glad you enjoyed the review, the GX2 is a nice rod as well, I have 3 of them. I find the GX2 has a slightly less sensitive tip so, when I throw a night crawler out and a perch hits, I'm less likely to feel the bite before they swallow the hook. I do a lot of multi species fishing and try to stick to a medium action rod so the more sensitive tip helps in those situations. But, the Gx2 has caught a few 30 Lb salmon and handled it like a champ. I did a review on the GX2 as well here is the link if you haven't seen that one. ua-cam.com/video/K5jRSE4wfXg/v-deo.html Thanks for the Support Roger!
I have two of these, 10lb Trilene XL on a Mitchell 300c spinning reel on one, and the other has a Lews Crush spinning reel and the same 10lb XL Line .. I can’t begin to tell ya how how great these are, one of the best Rods I’ve ever had
I've bought 2 abu garcia rods in april and they broke, and the other I lost the eye inserts. I tossed them, I should'nt have to warranty out rods less than 4 months old. I bought 2 ugly sticks they been fantastic, way better.
I have the gx2 medium havent even upgraded the shakespeare reel I have it with kastking braid with 6lb vanish fluoro . Use it primarily for bait and wait. Been a beast so far. I recently got the lite pro for double drop and jigging and it's been really really nice but I got hooked onto a fatty that broke away and when I was retying I noticed the rod cracked in a few places where the 2 pieces connect and now it spins sort of freely. Superglue? Haha
Great presentation very knowledgeable on product this is a very good rod I have 7' med fast action could you tell me what is the max weight of lures you can use
I have st. Croix rods and I also have ugly stik lite pro I have Shakespeare micro series and I have berkley cherrywood rods. I love them all but if I'm not in my yak I won't use st croix rods but I honestly can't tell you what's the big deal with high end rods when the sensitivity is pretty much the same with the cheaper rods. Btw I'm purely a pan fisherman and I rarely use live bait and that requires a sensitive rod especially when its cold in ohio
Well... the GX2 is supposedly the new-gen version however, I feel the action and sensitivity are superior in the Lite Pro. But... the Uglystik Elite is making me a believer. I've done reviews on all you can check out.
I guess they don't make this rod anymore, though I'm sure you could find it on eBay -- it was replaced by the Ugly Stik "Elite", which I have (M power, 7 ft) and I like quite a lot. There are a few changes, which may be improvements or downgrades, depending on your preference -- stainless steel line guides (no ceramic inserts), which I like because I fish braid for my main line. Also the reel seat screws "down" from the top of the handle, which is my preference, instead of "up" from the handle butt. Still a great value at $50. +1 Like :)
Yes they were discontinued however, you can still find them at walmart some time. I just got a elite and I'm testing it out now. I should have a review on it soon.
It’s a budget rod sure , I have a bunch of fishing rods I inherited from my father bionic blades and god idk a bunch of shimono rods and reels , dad wasn’t cheap about his fishing gear . What I’m getting at is I’m using my ugly stick lite pro 6.6 and abu Garcia silver max reel both are budget and both work well . It’s about fishing not who has the most expensive stuff.
How ironic I have this rod in a 7ft medium/heavy mainly for pike and throwing light lures for musky and also have the shimano sienna 4000 on it haven't even had it out yet (I like to buy compulsively 🤣🤣)
@@OntheCreek is that all? I bought one out of impulse before I saw this video and I tried like texas rigging. It's ehh. I go mainly bass fishing. Might for catfish. Idk
