Toxicity and bad behavior exist everywhere, it is not about nationalities, but it is true that some cultures are warmer than others. The situation is to find a good partner, local or foreign, with the right compatibility. Do not close yourself only to nationality.
And, sure, human beings like the exotic, so in many countries they will respond that they prefer foreigners, but that is a focus mainly on the physical aspect.

    2) when I first dated a Mexican girl it was heavy, I never really got used to the constant I love you being North American, you never really say you love them unless you actually mean it.

Argh! It's so hard to adapt. As someone who grow up with a german father and a romanian mother in Germany I often struggle which act of kindness or action is more appropriate. Everyone pays his own stuff (german way) or the lady is invited (romanian way).
Altough I must confess that I prefer the romanian approach. It's also easier to meet Romanians than Germans since they're more open like the Latinos and Latinas.
That's why I think I felt more comfortable in Colombia amongst people than in Germany.

If it was up to me, I'd pay for the date. At least for the 1st ones. Because I'm the one who asked her out, so she's invited. Not that I don't see her as an equal partner, but by this I want to show that I'm really interested. Later she can pay if she insists, but for me small acts of love /kindness are sth. I'm okay with also. E.g. buying a new perfume for me with a smell she likes.

The argument that Mexican men can be too traditional is valid, and true for most of LatAm I'd say. But Mexican and other Latin-American women should ask themselves if the same isn't true for them too. Women raised in patriarchal cultures internalise patriarchal notions of masculinity too, and if a guy is nice and kind to them, they automatically see him as "not man enough", or even think he's homosexual. Foreign men may not fall into what patriarchal culture defines as "real, manly men", but they have the benefit of being white and (on the average) financially well off, two traits that "make up" for their lack of "traditional Latin-American manliness".
Bottom line is: yeah, Mexican and other LatAm men must be better, but Mexican and other LatAm women should do some soul-searching too and reconsider their expectations of men.

The fact that many people here say white = good and white = money astounds me.
I'm from Uruguay and I've been to Mexico and lived there for about 6 months. I'm slightly tall and have blondish hair with grayish green eyes, I'm standard in my country and can also seem like a normal dude in Argentina.
I caught all sorts of attention there, and I was specifically told about this weird internalized racism a lot of Mexicans have. The machismo culture and just the American wat of differentiating "races" was weird as all get out. What's more, is how other people from Latin American countries think this and other very old-fashioned things are "common". They are not, some countries just seem very backwards.

I’ve noticed some of the women in this video want to pick and choose when they want a man to be traditional… this simply cannot work, especially if you want all the benefits of a traditional relationship without being traditional yourself. It’s a two way street, and both partners need to know their roles in a functional relationship.
If you want a non traditional relationship then get a man who is somewhat feminine, passive, and submissive. That way both your energies balance out.
This isn’t to say there isn’t a machismo problem in MX, but I think 3rd wave feminism has misdirected women in modern relationships.
    Just my 2 cents. Love.

(from US living in Mexico) I've had several dates tell me they love me on the first or second date....or even when we were still just texting before meeting!!! (However, there are two degrees of "I love you" in Spanish.) In fact, I was just told yesterday and he was aware of this cultural difference, so we talked about it a bit. I told him, for me, I just want to say I like you, which translates to "Me gustas". He told me that is more for if you see someone on the street and you're intesrested in him, so you tell your friend, "Me gusta" (I like him). I've also had someone have my meet his entire family the day I met him, trying to be touchy in front of them as if we were actually a couple. The main struggle I'm having is people not knowing how to make plans. I'll tell them I'm interested in going on a date and throw out some days I'm free. One would expect that they would then return some days and times he is free, but instead he'll make some sort of not quite related comment like, "Oh nice, are you usually off on the weekends?" instead of ever answering directly.

Hi Jenny. I know what you mean. My husband was the same when I met him. The time thing takes time to adapt to. In Mexican culture it’s important not to push. You’ve let him know your availability, if he is interested he’ll make plans with you, be busy with your own life. I have learned so much about myself from dating and now being married to a Mexican, I’ve learned to go with the flow and make time and space for life to happen. There is so much freedom in that.

In Spanish there's a difference with "Te quiero" and "Te amo" normally when you're dating someone they will tell you Te quiero, but Te amo, Is reserve tofor when you really feel you love the person.
I remember when I dated a German guy and I told him Te quiero, he literally thought I was telling him I love you😂 and I wasn't the case, I just said that I fancy him 🤣
So if someone tells you "Te quiero" don't worry, they don't mean they want to settle with you, they just appreciate spending some time with you 😉

I kinda get the comment about some toxic behaviour in courtship being glamorized or misappropriated as desirable trait.
As a Korean Canadian I know that in Korea alcohol consumption - which is I think the highest in the world - is encouraged and glamorized everywhere from TV drama to SM and such. It's crazy that they treat cannabis on par with heroin and cocaine, but alcohol which destroys more people than all drugs combined is a wonderful thing that brings people together and "lubricates" social relationships.
Likewise, to think that overt jealousy and physical and emotional abuse are ok as long as they are for the reason of passion, is loco. No behaviour that overtly tries to control someone else is anything good.

That's just a woman who wants to take the best parts of both while ignoring the accountability and responsibility. So if she wants me to think that she is independent and empowered, she'll have to prove it by going 50-50. If a woman is relying on a man to take care of her, she is neither of those things.
