      Agree, include some lighting toward a light-colored ceiling, indirect light will help diffuse the light so you’re less likely to be lifting in your own shadow. Lots of good advice on fixtures in the other comments. Nice space!

    I use a single pack of "(Pack of 6) Barrina LED T5 Integrated Single Fixture, 4FT, 2200lm, 6500K (Super Bright White), 20W, Utility Shop Light, Ceiling and Under Cabinet Light, Corded Electric with Built-in ON/Off Switch" off of amazon for a two car garage and it lights it up so well. They can be daisy chained together to cover more space or attached side by side; for a garage your size you would probably need two packs but they are really bright. They come with switches so they can be turned on or off individually depending on how you connect them.

    We put up (Pack of 12) Barrina LED T5 Integrated Single Fixture, 4FT, 2200lm, 6500K (Super Bright White), 20W, Utility Shop Light up in our garage gym. Extremely easy to install, extremely bright. We used the entire box of 12 for a 24x24 garage with 10 foot ceiling. We have them spaced out three per truss, every other truss,. I admit they are cheap, I am sure there are better lighting options similar to these, but I was looking for cheap and easy at the time and I have yet to be disappointed.

    When I moved into my house, the garage gym only had one central light and it was *bad*. I mean, it was designed for parking a car and getting out, not lifting. I installed four LEDs (nothing fancy; Hyperikon LED Utility Shop Lights. 4ft long) and screwed them in the ceiling, into the joists. This is a two-car garage with a single door, and four of those suckers did a fantastic job. Absolutely no dark spots, and it's far from blinding/glaring. I daisy-chained them together so the light-switch turns them all on. Added benefit is that each has a power switch, so you can turn them off separately if you like.
    From eyeballing it, maybe two rows of this kind of shop light, three or four per row? For gauging a good LED light, there's some rule of thumb of 50 lumens per square foot, so you could crunch some quick math and get a good feel for what you need based on that an a product's specs.
    You can also shop around if there is a cold/warmth color you'd prefer. Semi-related: the biggest thing I like about these, aside from them being silent (unlike fluorescents) is that they don't give off heat. I live in Houston, so garages tend to get a little warm very easily.

    Paint it white and try pointing LED lighting up towards the ceiling. The shop I work in has LED lighting and it's miserable if you look up into it also LED lighting may really mess with filming especially as low as you'd be mounting it as above the rafters you'd be casting a ton of shadows.

    Hey. .About the lights, the best thing you can do, at the moment, is to have the same color temperature on all of your light sources. Leds are probably your best bet. Filtering your fluorescents is cheaper but is a temporary solution.. Black ceilings are nice for a tv studio, but they absorb lots of light. It would be nice to see the whole gym light sources, tho. My advice is for the video side of things, not really for the gym per se. Just my sad two cents, I shoot video in lots of industrial sites and factories and mixed lights are always a big problem.
    Big fan, I'm doing Massbuilder and I hate the conditioning.

    I don’t see much on lighting. I have the idea to do an LED border on the ceiling and walls which will give you adjustable diffuse lighting if you like, and maybe do the same aesthetic for your racks along the bottom inside edge? You could extend that light feature on the racks or perhaps anywhere in the shop for “grid” cues. That’s where your creativity would decide the situation. Basic idea is to put a full length along the ceiling and wall 3”-5” from the corner join, maybe another at 4’ from the baseboards. Add in voltage controls since most LED strips are dimmable above activation voltage.
    Also I’m pretty sure anyone coming here to see you train is doing it to see you work at it and become inspired. I can’t speak for everyone but I’m certainly not coming by to see if your butt is cute today.

    • @BrianAlsruheOfficial
      @BrianAlsruheOfficial  2 роки тому +1

      If your work capacity is really low, then yes I would start out with two times a week adding it in for about two weeks and then I would up it from there. But in reality, once your work capacity grows, 10 minutes of hard conditioning should not take away from your strength whatsoever and if it does then it shows very much weakness in the work capacity area

      You should be well past RICE advice now but have you been taking it easy on it to allow it time to recover? If not it will stay perpetually inflamed and potentially worsen and rupture if you get too impatient. I'm afraid there are no shortcuts with tendon injuries, just rest and rehab exercises until healed and then work on strengthening it again before going back to previous training levels.

    I finally purchased a rack (was using a half rack for years) only fits in our insulated ingested garage though. I was debating moving everything but the rack back into the basement for the winter (especially after yesterday’s workout, garage was 38 degrees, barbell was freezing, dip bars are outside and I do use gloves on those when outside in winter). I think I may just grab some gloves I can use that won’t slip when I grip and stay outside. I really am enjoying being able to do standing overhead press out in the garage. My basement is way too short to do standing presses in. On another note we are purchasing a wood stove to cut down heating costs and I will be able to get back into splitting wood for extra winter calorie burning. Miss some of the Nevesate gum style vids, but enjoy the bushcraft stuff as well (seems to be more and more pertinent as to the present day state of the nation). Stay safe this winter.

    I know I'm being nosy here when I ask you this, but do you really live there in the woods like that fully, or you go back and forth, like living a couple days where you used to and some days coming to your house in the woods? This might sound weird to you because you might even live really far away from your former housing situation, or even sold your last property, but I truly don't know none of those things.

      I am completely in the woods Josh. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not living in the cabin that I’m building. But I am on 27 acres of wilderness and there’s next to no connectivity when it comes to Internet or TV or cell phones

    If you want internet access. Starlink by Elon Musk was designed for areas like yours. I’m in the sticks and it works awesome.

      They say it won’t be available in our area for many years yet. Definitely jumped on that as soon as I heard about it
