  • It’s over a month before South Africans go to the polls to pick the people who will form the new government.
For the first time in the country’s history, independent candidates, who are not aligned to any political party, will also contest national and provincial elections.
52 parties will be on the ballot paper.
We look at the political landscape and the emergence of the uMkhonto weSizwe party with political analyst, Moeletsi Mbeki.

Mr Mbeki it is not true that we are not agrieved by the forceful removals that took place, displacing our ancestors, it is not true that we do not want land back because we are in urban areas, we respect your views sir but they do not represent the majority of Black South Africans as you suggest. We want that which was taken away forcefully from our ancestors, let us work to restore the dignity of the so many Africans still living in advent poverty.

1994 PAC said that they would take the land from the white people and distribute to the blacks. Clarence Makwetu was PAC president. But South Africans were interested in the celebrity(Mandela). They didn't listen. Now they want land from another celebrity(Malema)

People are still living in abject poverty because the ANC has not built this.country up. They have enriched themselves and allowed the country to decay. No one wants to invest in a corrupt , dysfunctional country that cannot even keep the lights on.

I agree with him, having spoken to many coming from rural areas, they don't actually care much for the land, it's the the urbanites who grew up in cites who are obsessed with land which they feel they can never own. And unfortunately are in the minority.

It is so sad to hear an elder of Nguni saying we prefer to be in the cities when we were forced by the wicked and satanic system of colonization to live a strange and foreign life which is destructive to our physical and mental health, culture and also to our original lifestyle which kept us closer to our Creator. Some of us don't want to be in the cities. We are forced by the systemic colonization to be in the cities. And I'm sure that the majority of my people think the urban lifestyle is the way to go because it's all they know, they do not know who they are and what they are - if they can awaken to the truth things will certainly change. Wake up my people, wake up!!!!

Throughout the world , as countries become more technologically advanced , they become more urbanised.
SA is not unique in this regard and our urbanisation would be greater if we had lower unemployment as that is where the growth in jobs will be.

They have greatly improved the unemployment rate.
Did you know that the DA run Western Cape has the lowest unemployment rate in the country despite a large influx of job seekers from other provinces and the rest of Africa ?
Maybe the ANC should ask the DA for some tips on how to get a country working properly.

Yes you would. Most people who live in JHB &CPT leave their rural villages in limpopo and eatern cape etc. They leave tribal land which is readily available for not just farming but also building proper houses....just to go build shacks in urban areas. Most people actually want jobs.

All over earlier South Africa, Colourds (whites mixed with blacks at the fringes of mid-Africa) were the earliest inhabitants. Strong Kings in mid-Africa had chased those Colourds (San/Khoi) southwards, as they later-on had chased other backs away. Those blacks ran southwards and chased the Colourds away. Some Colourds were stranded at the seashore where Jan v Riebeeck met and protected them. Other blacks came later-on, also been chased away from Shona-land and so on.
