The British held the Boers in concentration camps as they controlled most parts of SA then released them to manage SA resources bought and sold to Britain. The Boers where working for the British in SA economy but let the Boers run mostly the politics in gov where apartheid was introduced. So after apartheid the British still work with the few colonial transcorporations mostly held by the few Boers family and now tied to the ANC. South Africa , like all the other former colonies got political freedom without economic and land ownership emancipation when they democratized. Like ants, liberation movements and negotiators across the continent rushed headlong into half-baked settlements thinking the real freedom would follow as a result. The disastrous ramifications of this approach are there for all to see today. I am afraid there won't be easy solutions as the same liberator formations themselves are largely corrupt/ are in disarray or are mired in the new bureaucracy. This is the socialist lie with which they maintain power at the expense of the poor. Wealth is created by private inisiative, and the more people who engage in it, the richer society becomes as a whole. However, when you redistribute wealth through taxation, you are taking money from those who produce value, and give it to those who don't. In the long run, you're only making everyone poorer, because regardless of ho much money you have, its worthless if there is nothing of value to buy with it.
@@Hannodb1961 That’s in a perfect scenario where you didn’t have systematic exclusions for centuries to begin with! Especially to a majority of the population.
@@kabelomkhabela4766 Yes. That was because in the imperial age, we've had mercantilism as economic theory, which thought that wealth is generated at the expense of someone else. This is partly what drove the imperialist system, of which Apartheid was a relic. America had a different economic model, and after 1945, they replaced the imperialist mecantilism theory with their own, which turned out to be amazingly successful in countries like Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, and even Europe. Africa and India opted for socialism instead, and the results were very underwhelming. Modern capitalist theory understands that excluding people from the economic process actually makes society poorer, not richer, and if everybody could reach their full productive potential, its actually improves the quality of life for everyone. This is why the narrative of the left is so fatally wrong: The rich in South Africa doesn't want to keep the masses poor, they actually _wants_ to see the black masses advance and become wealthier, because that will create a wealthier, safer, and more stable society for everyone. The Johann Ruperts and Patrice Motsepes of South Africa is not the enemy, they're the people who are creating the job opportunities. We want more of them, not less. This is why BEE laws, AA laws, anti-foreigner laws, too powerful labor unions and the mountain of business red tape is what causing South Africa to remain poor. We need to abandon all these laws that restrict business activity, and rather invest in education and skills development. Instead of telling businesses who they can and cannot employ, we should rather provide incentives for businesses to up skill unskilled workers. Also, we need to drop the red tape to make it easier for people to start new businesses. We need to replace social grants for unemployed people with social grants for startup businesses, and reward businesses for employing more people. Basically, we need to do the exact opposite of what the ANC have been doing the last 27 years. We need economic growth, not economic redistribution.
People can be “rich” by growing their own food. Their is enough land. The current system doesn’t want self reliance, because that will not support their consumerism and debt trap. People have different views on being “rich”. Life is beyond fancy “bling”. System change and the constitution be re-written to serve our self reliance interest, is required. The Organic Humanity Movement has a plan for us to do so.
@@marinaschreiber8133 I'm sorry, but subsistence farming is poverty, no matter how you look at it. If that wasn't the case, we wouldn't be experiencing the biggest urban migration in world history. The modern economy pushes people to be specialists in their trade, rather than to be a jack of all trades, and that is what creates wealth. You _don't have_ to do everything yourself, because you'll do a crappy job of it. Rather, you can go to the person that does it best and get a proper job done. Sure, if you're wealthy enough you could buy a plot of land and go organic, but it is the modern economy that allows you to do that in reasonable comfort. If you truly believe the nonsense you wrote, why do you have a computer/cellphone with which to write it on the internet, and which is only possible because of the very system you seem to despise? Consumerism does not _have_ to lead to a debt trap. That is not the fault of the system, it is the fault of people who don't get basic math: You can't spend more than you earn. The British created an economy, built roads, cities, farms, ports, massive railway systems and mines. The ANC have destroyed it in 27 years piece by piece.
I agree with Mr Mbeki. However, one cannot design the economy around the poor. The focus must be on value creation - look at China or any growing economy. The rest of the world is our market and we need to provide value to that market. This we can only do if we have economic sectors that deliver products that the world market need and want. Mining is one such sector and even mining no longer accommodates unskilled labour because mining methods have changes. This also holds true for farming and any other industry. These changes require an economic and socio-political structure that promotes real development of our people and our economy. Liberation and economic emancipation can only be achieved through a strong industrialised economy that provide value adding jobs to the peoples of this country. Our current trajectory does not bode well to achieve this.
Thanks for your facts Mr Mbeki much respect, diplomatic businessman politicians have been pushing the agenda of 1800 civil wars of the west in Bantu south lands and selected few puppets tribal leaders to drive their interest We need a solution (recognition of all tribes of the KoiSan, Nguni, Tswana, Tsonga, Ngoni-Venda) we can start there) then the rest who came with the colonists to build a fair South Africa
I've been saying all this time, although today, it's not so much the British. It's big money and the banks. If Madiba had done what he wanted to while he was in office, we would almost certainly have ended up in some kind of civil war. We would've been massively destabilised.
@@nyathibheki3572 Look, politics is an ugly game with a lot of ugly players, no doubt. And we know that MANY little meetings took place behind closed doors during which his presidency was discussed before he was even released from prison. But the read I get off Madiba is he was a very committed socialist. The world leaders he admired most were men like Gaddafi and Castro and when one reads the ideas an opinions of Mandela during and before his imprisonment, one finds for example that he highly valued accessible, high-quality education for all and that he believed a country such as South Africa so rich in minerals, fertile farmland, and with potential to draw so much tourism was meant to be an independent country depended on by other countries for its produce and therefore incredibly economically strong. But apparently, during at least one of those many covert meetings before his release where the political strategy was discussed and determined for his journey from prison to a New South African leadership, he was met by various captains of international industry - the type of men who hold most of the world's wealth and majority shares in companies that trade in precious metals and weaponry - and told that if he were to do things his way, South Africa would quickly find itself destabilised. I wish I could remember the source of this information. I mean, the meetings that took place weren't really that big a secret. It's what was decided during them that is shrouded in mystery and I believe has a lot to do with Nelson Mandela's ANC ruling party to regulate available high-quality education for all and a conglomerative public/private ownership of the major mineral deposits. I might not be right about all of this and I know that. I certainly wasn't present at any of those meetings. I was still learning to tie my shoelaces. But I know that affordable commodities are what the world's mineral, machinery and produce are motivated by when it comes to whether they lend their support to regime change, or withhold that support, the doing so of which might've made South Africa a much earlier example of Libya. Or maybe that civil war so many white South Africans ran away from might have happened. It all starts with the arming of different factions of a populace and then pocketing the interest from the loans taken to buy those weapons, thus acquiring immense power over said country and all of its devastated people. Maybe I'm over thinking things, but I feel like I've seen this movie quite a number of times. Pity we don't have any hippies. Bring on that long a awaited Age of Aquarius already! Please pardon my lengthy answer to your sensibly short, punctual question. I'm bloody hopeless.

The poor must remain poor to make the rich richer!
You buy the really big things on debt: like cars and houses, but the rest: If you can't afford it, you safe up on it. The system can do perfectly fine if people just stop trying to keep up with the Joneses.

Sakina Kamuwenda❤️ you are the best mfwethu
how will this country industrialise when small businesses are met with red tape when ever they try to grow, i know from experience this system wasn't made for black people. i wonder if an Audit of our minerals since 1910 is possible to see how much we were cheated , it can't be 100% i hope.
The British created an economy, built roads, cities, farms, ports, massive railway systems and mines. The ANC have destroyed it in 27 years piece by piece.
Powerful stuff
A drop in the ocean compared to what politicians and friends steal.
Words of a real man.
Amazing truth. Enkosi tata Mbeki.
True talk Dr Mbeki well spoken
Thanks for your facts Mr Mbeki much respect, diplomatic businessman politicians have been pushing the agenda of 1800 civil wars of the west in Bantu south lands and selected few puppets tribal leaders to drive their interest
We need a solution (recognition of all tribes of the KoiSan, Nguni, Tswana, Tsonga, Ngoni-Venda) we can start there) then the rest who came with the colonists to build a fair South Africa
I've been saying all this time, although today, it's not so much the British. It's big money and the banks. If Madiba had done what he wanted to while he was in office, we would almost certainly have ended up in some kind of civil war. We would've been massively destabilised.
Wasn't he a chattamhouse puppet himself put out there to deceive us even further? Just asking nje.
@@markwarrensprawson the bottom line is, he sold out, he was flaunted as some kind of a Messiah yet he was just one of them created to destroy us. Didn't he die a high ranking freemason?
such a great and insightful talk! learnt a lot about the history and our economy
THE QUESTION IS HOW LONG WILL WE TALK ABOUT IT WITHOUT ACTION"THE ACTION NEEDS TO START NOW TO END THIS MADNESS"
Still they is no leader willing to do it
Sakina mtakama, you don't belong to the SABC. A true journalist, I love you sisiza wethu, may the Kamwendo Kings&Queen Ancestors guide you 24/7 ❤

I love listening to Mr Moeletsi analysis, but the Apartheid system worsened the setup, my parents with meager British education system, were hard working, creative, innovative, farming, self reliant, I remember very well when I couldn't get a single book to read, just sitting around the fire listening to stories about life in the olden days. It makes me sick and sad because the government have no vision for the millions of young people in our country, the vast majority of the young people from the poor community's.
The government don't know what to do, they keep cut and pasting, no ideas for the majority of young black people, the list goes on and on.
A sensible analysis this time around!
We should aspire to be like this man in this country. Truth spoken to ears that still support the corruption of ANC party. I'm even afraid for this man's life.
