You sure made it look and sound easy. There's another UA-cam video of a guy in Germany who was an engineer and hired engineering interns and took two years to stuff a Boxter engine into his Ghia, so I don't know what it was so easy for you. I subscribed to learn more.

Restoration and engine swap is a good strategy when the car's condition justifies that. Great job. Hope to see more, and... electric conversions too.

that so depends on where you live- in the desert its easier to avoid intense body and frame restoration because there are more good solid examples sitting around.

Jerome, this is so 2021......it's now 2022, time to go EV and never look back! I just blew good money on a 2273 for my '69 KG convertible, it's supposed to have 175hp but feels more like 80hp because I'm used to my EV. I'd love to convert mine to EV but all the conversion places are 3 years booked!

EV? Are you crazy? What a waste of money and horrible for the environment. I have an electric pedal assist mountain bike that's less than 2.5 years old and it's already lost 30 percent of it's range. Imagine of it was a car what a waste it would be. If you want to save the planet and save money, then make it natural gas powered.

      Hi Albert
      $350 for the subaru 1997.
@$100 for fuel system. ( fuel pump and line...)
$720 for flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, through out bearing and adapter plate.
      $590 for ecu including shipping.
      @$300 for cooling system.
      $10 for intake.
$250 for exausht system. Mufler, welding, hardware...
I did timing belt, seals, spark plugs...
      Around $200 of maintenance
$200+ throttle body reverser. ( dont have a good welder...
      I spent almost $3000.00
      It's so worth it!
99% of hardware is from the old subaru. The other stuff from leftover project around my house.
If you can do it, go for it! It's fun, reliable and powerful. I'm trying to find a bus and will do exactly the same swap again.

      Hi Martin
It's weird but I will use this radiator
On the bus.... the weight is 7 inches.
This radiator will stand vertical underneath the frame before the engine. You will get lot of cold air.
I'm in boston so not has hot...
I think the ghia can get a honda 3 row radiator in the front to be safe.
You can remove the horn and make s small cut inside to two front vents.
      Perfect to keep engine cool.
I'm french so got this radiator for nothing except shipping from a friend and didn't want to cut anything on my car. ( body is very nice...).
But I think the ghia has the best potential to set up water cool.
More maybe than a bus or bug.
      Thanks again martin.
Would love to see your projects too.

@@jeromemalinge4572 That’s great that such a small rad works. I spent a good deal of time trying to calculate required rad size, and oddly enough I came up with approximately 1 square inch of rad area per hp, and a minimum of 1” ID for tubes to minimize head loss.
The A110 rad is about 150 inches, looks like that’s working great for you.
I’m going with about 250 inches of radiator, but I’ll be pushing about 220 hp.

You have more power too so you need something larger. Mine is the 2.2l. So you are right. 150 hp @ 150 sqinche.

Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned
from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the
Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025
on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas
station per city or county. Now they want to slow down all the gas station fuel
pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in
the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems,
turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and
New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be
done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of
crime here, called emissions and smoke crime :-(((//

fortunately this kind of idiocy will take decades to pull off in the states. We have hundreds of millions of gas cars here. To make them obsolete in any reasonable amount of time would completely bankrupt the country. By the time anything like that happens the engineers will figure out how to make 0 emissions by burning gas. Activist rarely produce or solve anything - engineers will always solve the problems like they have been doing throughout history.
