I love how the classic companions all come together to watch and critique. Filming those segments must've been an absolute blast - and I'm sure there are plenty of moments of mischief and bleeping they had to cut. Somehow, I can't ever see this sort of 'family' watch-along happening with New-Who. Bonnie and Nicola seemed an odd pairing though, I think they'd have 'warmed' a little with Colin Baker in between - just to up the cosiness a little. Even though it wasn't a Colin adventure, he is an absolute joy on the DVD extras.
The seventh was not my first Doctor but Sylvester McCoy's performance in Tales of the Tardis was greatly loaded with feeling and passion. I think it was a great comeback for such iconic actor.
Seeing the Kandyman casually pick up the phone makes me wish that there were more monsters who just get a call to deal with a problem. Can you imagine: "Yes? Sontaran speaking?"
They can't bring him back looking like Bertie Bassett's mad cousin due to an agreement with Bassetts (Mondelez). He would have to look completely different
Back when doctor who could parody politicians without being labelled as "woke", that Thatcher parody is hilarious. Wheres my Rishi Sunak allegory Doctor Who?
Wow! I sure wasn’t expecting this but because it’s Halloween time I’m not surprised at all! And as for the Kandyman he was scary! Fifi who can forget her? I sure can’t! That Dog was vicious to say the least! Anyway thank you for the upload!
When I first watched Happiness Patrol my reaction to the Kandyman was in line with Janet, Wendy and Sarah’s but latterly I think it’s a brilliant creation, I never picked up on the dialogue first time around. This story has just grown on me with repeated viewings and is now one of my fave stories across all Drs. The special edition is wonderful, really adds some sense of a larger world, each episode now runs to about 30 mins and it doesn’t sag at all, nicely tweaked cliffhangers and ending and they’ve reinstated the scene where the Kandyman accidentally chops his thumb off😂 which gets a big 👍 from me.
People are always saying we’re in “the darkest timeline” but the actress who played the parody of Margaret Thatcher is alive, while the real one isn’t. I think there’s definitely darker timelines than this one ❤
Well Big Finish decided to bring him back in the first Ravenous boxset... to the point of having the line of the Doctor encountering him in the trailer.
1 group is Sylvester McCoy (7th Doctor), Sophie Aldred (Ace) and Sheila Hancock (Helen A) Another is Bonnie Langford (Mel) and Nicola Bryant (Peri) The last is Janet Fielding (Tegan), Sarah Sutton (Nyssa) and Wendy Padbury (Zoe)
Sutekh watching the Happiness Patrol paint his house pink
guarantee you he ended up pink for a bit and _loved_ it
Lol
...and a pink rabbit hutch for "Neil - plaything of Sutekh". [gotta watch the Pyramids of Mars extras to get that reference]

"How did we do that?"
"I threw it and you caught it" lol
Love how everyone else is cracking jokes and then Bonnie and Nicola are being analytical lol
"The story of my life"
Lol I love Sylvester
Although Fifi was a scary doggie, I was sad when she died. The Kandyman, however, he was freaky!
3:50
Sylvester: “How did we do that?”
Sophie: “I threw it and you caught it.”
Love how blunt that was

It was hard to be scared of the Kandy Man with that voice.

The Kandy man... oh the candy man can.
I ADORE The Happiness Patrol. Genuinely one of my favourite classic stories.
Seeing the Kandyman casually pick up the phone makes me wish that there were more monsters who just get a call to deal with a problem.

Bring the kandyman back
Big Finish already have done (see Ravenous Vol. 1)
@@rowanc88then do it again

@@bletheringfool Again, look at the cover of Ravenous Vol. 1. That's based on how the Kandyman was described in the original script.
Kandyman could be on the Masked Singer
7th Doctor to pipe-people, 'Have You Seen Ace?"
Pipe-people shake head, "Gordon!"
"Gordon?"
"Bennett!"
😂
😂
One of the best and most underrated Dr Who stories

What do you mean? Davros is a _perfect_ Rishi surrogate (and the Cybermen are pretty good Keir Starmers)!
You're acting like they've parodied politicians recently and were labelled woke. That didn't happen.
@ they parodied Trump and were indeed labelled woke.

Question for Whovians. Who is the best companion and why is it Ace?
If I had to choose my favorite companions from the original and revival, it'd be Ace and Donna. And I would love to see them in a room together.
@@daydreamcomedianne FIngers crossed that Big Finish will do a 7 and Ten Crossover with Donna and Ace encountering Omega.

Fantastic.
I feel like The Happiness Patrol, would go well with the song Feel Good by Gorillaz.

Always been one of my favourite stories 😊
@@SamuelBlack84 Definitely! The way that he gets impatient sends chills down my spine!

I threw it and you caught it. But it took 500 takes to get it right.
Happiness Patrol and Paradise Towers were my first two experiences with Dr Who. Terrifying.

Best Doctor ever.
I just watched the full serial for the first time. Don't know why a right wing Michael Grade didn't like this show at all 😂
He just watched 'Warriors of the Deep' and thought that the show was always like that episode with no variation.
Micheal Grade already left his post by the time this episode aired

Any word on the U.S. Release date yet?
Watched Happiness Patrol this morning on iPlayer and googled to find behind the senses of the Kandy Man and this popped up posted 21 hours ago.

Yes, the Master made his TARDIS into a fully functioning van in ᅠTerror of the Autons.

I guess Bertie Bassett was named renamed "Kandyman" for copyright issues.
it would be much more interesting if the people responsible for producing these episodes were sitting on the sofa
