SAG Awards 2021 Fashion Roast (These Looks Were SAGGY)

- This years Screen Actors Guild Awards, or SAG Awards for short were highly disappointing. After what has been an incredibly uplifting award season style wise, this seemed to the lull, which in all fairness should be expected but never applauded.

Wouldn't it be a cool idea to have a video in which you go through the best stylists and their best (and worst?) looks for their clients, why it works, why it doesn't etc? I know I'd love to watch that! Also maybe up and coming designers?
This is such a good idea! It'd be super interesting to see his thoughts on how their personal styles come through in their clients outfits
Yes please!!
Yessss!! That's such a great idea!
@@sydneywilson3270 Yesss!
Okay this is probably an unpopular opinion- but I’m personally loving the different designer takes on home wear and pj-looking designs. It’s like a direct representation of what’s going on in society right now, and in 30,40,50 plus years when everyone’s dressed to the tens again (because I 100% believe that everyone will be wearing over the top, beautiful couture once again once the quarantine is over worldwide), you can look back at this 2-3 year gap, sort of time stamped as a remembrance of the horrors of the 2020 pandemic. As much as I appreciate the avant-garde, creative outfits stars are known to showcase for award shows, this is a lot more appealing to me for now, especially from a historical standpoint. I know we’re all desperate to get back any semblance of normalcy again, but things like this are going to tell a story a few years down the line.
I actually like Daniel Kalulya’s look. I thought it was fun and tongue in cheek since all the celebs are at home. It seemed like a clever little nod to having award shows while in quarantine
Me too! But I hate the shoes lol
Loved the look (and the shoes)
You took the words right out of my mouth!
I didn’t hear a word you said the first 30 seconds of the video cause I was DYING OVER THE COAT.
whole video
It looks like a bathrobe
SAME
It looks like the controversial raincoat 🌧️ ☔ from Melissa McCarthy's magazine cover 😉 (I thought she looked absolutely adorable and stylish - People are dumb 🙄)
Anna Taylor Joy has such a French-European look I am surprised non of the major fashion houses have asked her to represent them exclusively.
Luke taking his time to educate his audience on the current hate crimes against Asian Americans is everything I live for ! Thank you for using your platform for goods ❤️ oh and that Peter Do coat is AMAZING
Carrey mulligan looks like when you are hosting a very fancy party and wearing an elegant black backless dress but had to put an apron to help in the kitchen
....and I still love it!
I think it might be a slight homage to Audition (which does have similar themes to Promising Young Woman)
LDJDUDJ
It'd be really cool if you reviewed some popular teen TV shows fashion, like Gossip Girl, Pretty Little Liars, even movies like The Devil Wears Prada and Mean Girls
I'm here for it!
PLEASE ANDY"S OUTFITS FROM DEVIL WEARS PRADA
Tbh id love to see him react to fashion from the 90s show the Nanny
@@nanamiharuka3269 that would be so interesting! the looks are iconic and used a lot of designer pieces so it would be cool to hear Luke's review
omg I was needed this
I’m mad that Daniel Kaluuya is so goddamn good looking that he almost makes the purple pajamas work.
in a Wakandan pajamas sort of way
He’s sooo handsome
I loved Anya Taylor Joy... again. She's killed it all awards season and I can't wait for her Oscar look.
is she nominated?
@@oliviamoreira2539 No, but she'll probably be a presenter, she's had a good year.
But imagine her at the MET Gala next year? 😍
I was sad he didn't clock the fact this dress is a reference to Mugler 1999 :(
i really love it too, I think it's very unique, classy and chic. Loved it!!
I am pretty sure Anya's look is an homage to Mugler SS 1999. It's very similar and that kind of really elevates it in my eyes. That look however had the lacy strap on one side and the slit on the other so the balance was pretty spot on. This is a fantastic recreation though.
Ufh Catherine O'Hara is a full-on goddess and her stylist is impeccable at showing her own style in every situation.
Oh, but Dan needed his pants hemmed oh no!
Why haven’t we got a schists creek episode yet?????. Like I expect an episode for each of the characters. Don’t disappoint me. ❤️
Me, heading into Walmart wearing gray scrub floods, plum tennies and chicken socks: "I wonder how fast Luke's gonna roast those SAG fashions?"
I just love how Luke always paint us a grim landscape for the video and then he’s all smiles and likes 75% of the things 🤣🤣🤣
audibly said "OMG LOVE IT" when Emma Corrin's Prada look popped up and then Luke proceeded to shit all over my taste lol
anyway I stand by my opinion
Thankyou for speaking sincerely about stopping asian hate and using your platform to educate as many people as you can!!
That Mcqueen construction on Cynthia was so crisp and beautiful. Omg and with the combat boots?! Yes!
i agree !!
She looks gorgeous and that color is so beautiful on her
Not kidding, fashion never peaked my interest. Saw you on Brad Mondo’s channel and love how articulate and informed you are. Your passion for this industry really captivates me, I could listen to you talk about it literally all day long Lol
*piqued
@@mooltz I-
i was just honestly looking at luke’s coat the whole time
0:32 me the moment I log off my online classes
Meme material
@@hymnofthenightingale wdym? His coat is great wtf
I'm praying for this to become a Stan twitter meme
@@hymnofthenightingale You have never seen a trenchcoat before or what?
@@hymnofthenightingale lol what's your problem? It looks great on him, girl your fashion sense is wack lmao
LMAO daniel kaluuya's outfit is such a mood
Let's be real: Carey Mulligan is wearing a fancy apron.
😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
That's that I thought! 🤣🤣🤣
Hahaaa!! I'm on that dress as I type, and it's a no for me!! 😂😂😂
I loved Kerry Washington in Etro! It screamed 20's, Gatsby-goes-sunbathing vibes and I am all for that!
yuuup. also, the way that the rounded edge of the headpiece frames her face reminds me of a finger-wave hairstyle and i think it’s so brilliant!
@@loosetooth777 yes you are absolutely right!
goodbye nice look, we'll miss you, but Mean Luke is waaaaaaay more fun.
lolololololol
omg not me writing look when I meant Luke
I like how much time you take to explain why something Is good or bad, tying the garments to the philosophy and history of the brand. I learned so much just listening to you. I also love how you are never malicious or catty in your assessments, we get the feeling that you respect the person even if you don't like the look, which is refreshing. Plus you always take the time to talk about worthy causes in a thoughtful way. For example explaining why it wasn't OK for Schiaparelli to use a black model with the dress with the breastplate or why racist, sexist stylists shouldn't be considered even if the fashion is OK. Overall, well done.
That Moira impression is ON POINT
THANK YOU!!!!
@@hautelemode Maybe she should be your next drag Halloween costume...
Elle Fanning’s look reminds me of the 70s episode striped outfit Wanda wore in WandaVision when she was pregnant, which makes me like it even more than I already did.
Anya keep giving us EVERY THING!!!! Girl is our new fashion icon and i am here to stan my queen ❤
I actually think this “red carpet” was the better of this season. I loved so many looks and to me, the bad ones weren’t as bad as normal.
gillian anderson looks beautiful but the way that you cut her off because she was wearing dolce & gabbana was so funny
That's not funny. That's selfrighteous and hypocritical, but hey. People seem to love these things.
@@gi2121 well dolce and gabbana have been known to be racist and homophobic and just overall shitty people so I completely support him for that
@@thelambsauce1701 There are shitty people everywhere, you are of course entitled to not buy their stuff if you feel it's the right thing to do, but you should also be free to buy it if you want to and leave those who do alone. By cutting Gillian Anderson off, he's not making a point against Dolce and Gabbana, he's cancelling the actress who's wearing their stuff. Halle Berry is biracial and she chose to wear D&G at the oscars, how about that? Should Halle Berry be cancelled as well? I guess all the "anti D&G" check the ethical probity of every product before they buy it, namely the zillion things manufactured in countries where there is child labor, labor exploitation, dictatorship, etc. Or boycott hair extensions to support the thousands of poor indian women who get paid a ridiculously small amount of money to part from their hair, so western healthy women can flaunt expensive luscious locks. Right?... And this list could go on and on. So much hypocrisy and misplaced self-righteousness bother me.
@@gi2121 1. He didn't "cut Gillian Anderson off". He didn't have to show her at all and clearly only did so to make the joke. 2. It isn't "cancelling" someone to voice issues with their purchases. That is a reasonable action when those purchases are demonstrably harmful. And yes, this includes Halle Berry's purchases because biracial people aren't exempt from making bad decisions. 3. Most importantly, your main argument is essentially: "Since there is badness everywhere, we shouldn't bother trying." And that's just a bad argument. I agree, it is VERY difficult to make ethical purchases these days. But that doesn't mean people who avoid certain brands in an attempt to make a better world while still being naive to other problems are displaying "hypocrisy." Should they maybe put that effort into overthrowing the system creating all of these unethical practices? Sure. But trying at all is better than not trying. 4. Finally, it seems like you are very young and don't have a taste for this sort of content and I think you should simply not watch it.
@@e.h.sawyer7758 1. I don't think the joke was gracious, for the reasons I mentioned earlier. 2. He didn't voice issues, he cut her off with said ungracious joke. Purchases harmful to who? What are the actual criminal deeds of Dolce and Gabbana? 3. Again, if you want to make the world a better place and really make a difference, avoiding buying from countries with child labor and exploitation seems definitely more relevant and coherent that this kind of easy targeted indignation. Especially because it's very unlikely that the regular person like me and many others here will ever purchase Dolce and Gabbana stuff. 4. I'm 42, thank you very much :). Debating ideas and not agreeing is fine, but you don't get to "guess" my age or my taste and above all, you don't get to advise me on what I should and should not watch, but again, thank you for your patronizing concern.
Okay but why is your Moira impression so good lmao
the fact that they didn't even bother to hem Daniel Kalulya’s pants and just folded and pinned them...
😂😂😂🤣🤣
I just love how much Catherine O Hara is in the limelight.
Okay but Maria Bakalova in Dior is a cool concept, the play on the trope of a lover tossing petals on the tiled floor, emphasis on tossing, and that's why I think the floral embellishments look as they do, they're not supposed to look like well-arranged flowers.
That coat is amazing Luke 😍🖤
@@justarandomperson5220 Yes! I love the way Luke constantly supports Peter 🖤
me when i lie
Leslie Odom Jr's shoes werent brown, they were a multi-chrome reflective material! loved the moment
Catherine O’Hara is everything. I love Schitts Creek. Definitely on brand with her character too. Plus.. Tom Brown?? Fabulous.
I loooove the pyjamas. Even outside of any pandemic. When we talk fashion semantics, I love seeing a universally accepted code being broken. The pure rebellion of putting comfort first, even in an award setting or an office setting is beautiful to me. Yeah, it's not welcomed but that's the point. And we've been doing this for some time now. There was this trend a few years ago of women wearing PJ pants with heels. Now the trend has reached men and I desperately hope that the trend sticks after covid so I can wear PJs to the office, be comfortable as f and still be considered fashionable.
After the rant at the beginning of the video I literally stopped it to pop some popcorn to munch on while watching Luke tear all these looks a new one.
Luke your coat is EVERYTHING I needed today before work !
' Alex Perry I don't actually know who you are"
OMFG the shade lollllllllllllllllllllllllll
I know, hilarious. Aussie here...soz Alex, turns out your a big fish in a teeny pool, lol
Gotta say Luke, you are serving in that blue coat! I love the layers and depth it has.
I'm so sorry no luke, i usually agree with a lot of your opinions, but i fucking love that prada look on emma corrin. It's stunning 😍😍😍😍😍
Agreed... For me, everything works on Her... She's PERFECTION 😘
Same. It seems to really suit her personality. She's giving me 90s grunge attitude in the photo and I'm living for it.
The Durrell’s of Corfu... cannot believe you referenced that. Omg. I LOVE IT. 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🤗🤗. Now I’m going to have to go rewatch this weekend.
Been waiting for this all week. Let's go!!!
I don't think I've seen Luke do such a short intro before, he is here to drag the girls and I'm here for it!! 😂😂😂💯
"I learned that from the GBBO" 😂😂
I'd love to see you react to the female lead's outfits from It's Okay to Not Be Okay, a kdrama. And bonus, Hotel Del Luna too. Hehe.
this video, the thing that made me laugh out loud and reminded me to like the video was the "mad dog" pun(s)
EDIT: and it was the rant against the violence against asian people that made me proud to be subscribed!! Love you Luke for taking the time to make sure everyone understood the importance in that statement
Could it be that one lacy strap Anya Taylor Joy's dress might have been a kind of continuation of the lace on the split? Maybe that was the thought behind only one lacy strap? I also like how the dress makes her look even paler than she is and that it still works somehow, i think that's really great
THESE LONG ASS VIDEOS ARE EATING UP MY DAY! I regret nothing.
My heart sank when you said that Catherine O'Hara's look was the most exciting one. Good lord.
can someone please make a compilation of everytime Luke says 'in reality' in all of his videos bc I wanna see how long that video will be. Its for science.
And "in that regard" 😅
Would love to see an episode rating pro-athletes & coaches pre-game looks. Some really come out dressed more stylishly than celebs with stylists 🤭😅
I liked as soon as you did the moira rose impression haha
I'm not visually impaired but I love your detailed descriptions of the looks! I think that could help anyone who's visually impaired enjoy your videos : )
Orange was the new colour Virgil introduced to LV in 2019 - mainly through his capsule collection entitled "orange" literally 😏
Alos, dope review L, as always !
"first big role" Jurnee Smollett's been working for 20+ years 😭😭🤣🤣
Thank you for the Blue Trenchcoat link. It’s really singing to me. So chic
kerry given me 1920's speakeasy wit da wave head cap. its like a wavy short cut black women use to have
"I get it. I respect it. I understand it." I see what you did there, Vanessa Hudgens. LOL
30:35 🤩🤯😍 amazing suit agree on the shoes! The Gyvenchy look would have been great w some exciting over the top sleeves maybe on some kind of Fringe or feathers 🤷? Btw your "thank you" when you dont like something are everything! 😂
I would love for you to do some styling tips or how to-s OR what to wear for some red carpet events
Elle fanning is wearing a sequined scrub set from the mid 2000s. About to go to work at the hospital. As a nurse thank you Elle for your support?
Your disdain for D&G is what I STAN!!!! Hopefully Maria G will get back on that list as well...😂😂😂
i loveee the daniel kaluuya moment
Berluti’s suiting has been STUNNING this year
That Vera Wang was a total ice skating costume.
Your Moira impression has me cackling 😂
You need to do a devil wears prada review
To be fair Leslie Odom Jr. Shoes look like they could be multichrome and vibe differently irl
Tie looks almost cravat-like. Love your vids x
I really thought Kerry Washington would be the best dressed given her photograph b in the pool and everything 😭
Daniel Kaluya comes up
Me:"Purple pjs"
Luke:"I don't get the purple pj"
Me: feeling very proud of myself for having the same thought! XD
elle fanning’s cut was really nice but the colors gave me a headache, also ngl the colors on Leslie Odom Jr were nice but also the suit actually fit really well
6:51 I hate it. What even IS that...it's a baggy, saggy mess. There's a matte white corseted top with a sequined ill fitting black skirt and bottom??
Whoever did this to Catherine O'Hara really must have hated her lol.
HERE FOR ALL THE ROAST!!
LOVE! Thanks for inspiring me to start my channel Luke :)
That emma cording look was GORGEOUS and unique, i adored it so much, the haircut fit with it so well
Now why is my fashion icon Jean/Gillian Anderson wearing D*lce & Gabbana? We are: disappointed.
I know literally know nothing about fashion, but I love watching your videos.
Okay but your coat is STUNNING
Liked your take on most of the looks, I was watching to see what you thought of Kaley Cuocos look as I thought she looked stunning and really upped her game this year.
Schitts creek episode!!! I grew up 30 min away from the real motel and I want to see an analysis of high vs low brow Canadian hoser fashion comparison. I’d watch for the haute and stay for the breakdown of the hockey mullet. 🇨🇦
I'd love to see images what you would've put them in! Justice for Steven Yeun!
when i saw Nicola in Siriano, Luke was the first person that came to mind. I was delighted, surprised, and relieved.
Can you review all the previous Met Galas? I need that content
Thank you for speaking out against Asian hate in this video 💕
When I saw that red D&G dress in the news I thought "ugh boring what is that". It being D&G is only the cherry on top
Oh my god Kerry Washington’s look???? Absolutely stunning! Love the vision
Love your content, Luke💙💙💙 and also, love your coat your wearing!!!
Prada is the knowledge and experimentation. I can’t judge her , because she gives so much ideas and inspiration to so many brain lazy designers, of D or G class , that masses can afford.
Would love to see you analyse Villainelle's fashion in Killing Eve and how it relates to the story and her character, it's a very interesting show
Hey luke, it would be awesome if you could analyze Villanelle's outfits from killing eve❤️
OMG....this!!!
Omg YES!
YESSS
not the italian sweet 16s in staten island 😭
I like the apron reference of Carey Mulligan’s Prada look. Very early miuccia
For Anya Taylor Joy, I didn’t like the color match with her skin. It really washed her out with her hair and made her seem kinda sickly.
Yes they should have picked some pastel tone
Keep up the good work!
Thanks for your take on the current political, racist climate. Eloquent, heartfelt and spot-on. Amazing use of your platform.
Oh, btw, am I the only one to get waiter vibes from O’Hara? 😂😂
Anytime Luke does his “you look boring” voice, I crackle 😂😂😂😂😂😂
If you take a shot everytime Luke says "sort of" - goodnight! 😅
