With Sam @seenthroughglass since the tts! The videos are always great.. other car vloggers come and go for me start off great then get to full of themselves and i think "nope" bye... but sam has always been true to who he is!! 👍

You are so highly under appreciated for the work you do Sam. I always look forward to your videos as they always ooze quality.
I always blame Tesla for accelerating this trend of massive screens in cars, not to mention introducing subscription services to cars. BMW is merely following these trends because they're losing the luxury car market share to Tesla in key countries such as the U.S.
Buttons and gauges cost money the only reason everything is software and screens while they make out its because of tech so they can charge more for what cost them less
@@drjk7565US is absolutely not key country to BMW. With the lemon law if ppl were to execute it to the letter BMW would go bankrupt in US. China is at the moment where its at. There is a reason why their bikes and cars are made there
It’s hard to beat the look of the previous generation, however red is certainly one of the best colours to have this new generation in. Really shows off the new design in the best light. Amazing video as always Sam!
Having seen one in-person in this red shade, I would suggest going with black. Given the very odd design of the front grill / lower air dam, I really think any color other than black will look incredibly weird. The overall look of the car - but especially the front - is very questionable in my view. Black could help to hide a few things, or at least not shine a glaring spotlight on them.
@@RyanVincent-s5c I've seen a red one in person I think a lot of people who were saying it was ugly have not actually seen one in person. Is it as pretty as the old M2? No but is it as ugly as some people are making out? No subjectively I think has a real presence about it.
Another amazing and classy production. This channel deserves so much more views.. let us be thankful to BMW for sticking to straight-six’s and manual transmissions..
So had previous M2 comp, for 4 years loved it. Tiny fuel tank where you struggle with range when pressing on was a shared problem, Like the look of the new oner but SWMBO wanted something more practical for longer trips, riding better over poor uk roads and a little less lively in corners so ended up M4 x drive - but had a long hard look at the new M2, If I could I would have. I like it. Would have gone for the auto box though, super impressed with it on the M4. Also your constant pushing Karl Fredrick has sold me, ordered a case..........
I've been a little off BMW for a while now, but the looks of this have grown on me and maybe it's in my head but I can't unsee the E30 from certain angles. Thumbs up 👍🏼
I've never heard a more balanced, practical, or "practical" review of any car. No overt cynicism, no needless waxing or waning. Just some well-articulated thoughts.
Crazy how good the production quality of these videos are. I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch to say like you’re touching top gear level quality. Madness.
My G87 is almost identical to yours over here in the US, and I also love it. I still have my F87, and I love them both. The G87 is a much more mature car, but there is still place in the garage for the wild, light F87. I don't think you can go wrong with either.
There is a thing called passing, you can engage in it by pressing the turn signal and then moving around the vehicle in front. This way you can clear the road ahead of you, especially when driving a fast car. It can be a useful tool in your skill book when travelling with a vehicle.
Sam on point with the manual, BMW manuals are not good and more so if you've experienced a Porsche, Honda or even an MX5 gear change - it ruins the experience. As for the looks, I don't think that rear bumper will ever truly grow on anyone and it's one of the reasons I suspect black will be a popular colour to hide many of the poor angles. However, despite all that, I can see the uplift in quality from my previous M2C in terms of interior - it's absolutely more M4 quality than the M2C which was 1 series quality.
Agree on all points. Also, I’m a manual fan but unless it’s a decent manual, if there is a good auto option, I’d probably go for that. A manual may be more engaging but if there is slop or a rubbery feel, the satisfaction factor just isn’t there.
Excellent points, and don’t forget the car is shockingly heavy also. YTuber Auto Fanatic tried modifying his manual M3’s gear change and still is no good. Shame.
Hi Sam. You and Tim know how to give educational reviews that are helpful to us petrol heads. Thanks for your great content. Pity we missed your impressions at Monterey this year. Need you out there next
Enjoyed the video and the lovely setting! Glad you didn't hit any sheep! I just bought an M2 last week, its black sapphire so it kind of blends some of the more controversial exterior looks. Its also a manual but here in the US its a no cost option, but used to actually get a reduction in price for a manual, up until about 2010 or so, then became no cost. Love the car!
Great video and review. I think many other reviews of the new M2 are from a driving purist perspective - particularly when comparing it to the old M2 CS. I have ordered an a new Auto M2 with delivery expected in late October 2023. I was also fortunate to drive the new M2 on a track day in Sydney and thought it was a great drive albeit a little brief. I want an M car that is a great drivers car but also a nice daily driver when it needs to be. Your video suggests the new M2 is just that. In addition, I love the new tech in the latest BM's. I do agree the new M2 looks better in person than in a video.
Great review and I agree with all your pro’s and cons. I spent a long weekend in my dealers manual M2 and was disappointed with the gearbox. The gear change is rubbery and the long clutch meant I needed to have my seat closer than my ideal position. Thankfully I’ve ordered an auto which should have arrived next week but sat at the port in Mexico for 7 weeks after it was factory complete. It’s now on its way with an estimated late September delivery.
This is a video we’ve been waiting for from you Sam. Always gut level honest in whatever you’re testing and reviewing. I personally LOVE the look of the new M2. The facelift really kind of threw in a little bit of M roadster from the z4 imo.

Another lovely video Sam, the camera work, how you are to camera, it’s natural and great and easy to watch, keep up the good work and don’t ever ever change! You are personable and you can’t buy or manufacture that.
Another fantastic video/ review Sam as ever, and I agree the roads of northern Yorkshire are definitely on a par with Scottish and Welsh mountain roads! I’m busy planning a weeks trip down there in a months time. As for the M2 I agree with you it looks better when you’re not standing next to it!

There is no comp model for G87, let alone next year. 2024's are already being produced now. The 2025 is going to be a CS model, not a comp. The 2016 M2 changing to the M2C in 2019 had a whole new engine and suspension. The 2025 upgrades from here will just be a slight uptune and a carbon lip kit, which aligns to a CS. I agree with you. I like the look of the new car. Looks like a touring car for the road. The m2 I think is BMWs best of the current lineup in terms of performance and bang for your buck. Your video quality is so far ahead of anyone elses work! Great content as always Sam!!
Sorry that dash screen looks revolving! Same as nearly all modern cars. Also touch screen and touch buttons are stupid in cars. Anything you need to take your eyes off the road to adjust is not right.
I have an 18 LCI and I do agree the the design will grow on folks over time. Personally not a fan, but I do wish I had that interior versus what is mine. Wish they would also bring that classic touch of an illuminated M shift knob for the M2
Best video I've watched on this car so far. Loved the fast road driving up north. I've been on the same roads, they're great when empty. Can't believe the weight though. That's R35 GTR weight!
Tbh it looks more aggressive than your GT3. I think in red it looks quite nice. Would love to see it in the lovely portobello blue or whatever it’s called.
I was never a fan of the 1 series coupe, but it has grown on me. The front look of this M2 is a beauty the rear is the big let down. As someone who had studied CarDesign, the rear lights have a strange look if you look from the sides the lights look good but directly behind it looks like what my tutor from Wakefield used too say "Looks like a Bulldog chewing a wasp".

Sam, great review and content. Editing and being 'Yorkshire'. [You need to try the roads in Lancashire. Yes the M2.... the best car ever! Design, build quality, interior.... performance! Yet an every day 'super car' eater. And a future classic. Go auto. Black or white. BMW have delivered. Perfectly!
I have an M2C. I test drove the new M2 when mine was in for service. I do not get all the YT reviewers raving about this car. I’ve already forgotten it. It’s a GT tourer now. Not a small, compact, nimble sports salon car. The only review I think shows balance, is Harry’s Garage. The M2 is not a drivers car IMO anymore.
We are much luckier in the U.S. with the M2 starting at $63,200 which equates to £50,000 and the manual transmission is standard equipment, with the ZF8 speed being a $0 cost option. If I was older and had more financial freedom, this would surely be on my shortlist for a fun sports car
Great intro S!! My Oldman's from Yorkshire (Donny town Doncaster) I wanna go visit even just for the history! Looks amazing. PS: And the M2 doesn't look fugly! It looks really good!
The problem with auto ZF is that it doesent have character. I have a X3 M40i with XHP and the auto in it is really really good. But i dont have as much fun as in a manual. Its a shame they didnt leave the dct. And some cheap mods like cdv delete and shorter m-performance knob will do great on the feeling.
I’ve always said that my goal is to have a m2 as a daily. Top of the line in its category. I’m used to the new design now, im actually in to it, it looks futuristic while also keeping its petrol car design, not electric power looking at all.

Not a small, compact, nimble sports salon car. The only review I think shows balance, is Harry’s Garage. The M2 is not a drivers car IMO anymore.
Actually insane quality and W takes!
that red is super sharp. looks way better than that sky blue colour imo
What is the road at 10:26 ?
Most of these M2’s are getting close to 500 in the real world on the Dyno amazing really and thats standard from the factory
These roads are about 5 minutes from my front door, i can vouch its the highlight of where i live!
We are much luckier in the U.S. with the M2 starting at $63,200 which equates to £50,000 and the manual transmission is standard equipment, with the ZF8 speed being a $0 cost option. If I was older and had more financial freedom, this would surely be on my shortlist for a fun sports car
Great video Sam, keep up the good work
Great intro S!!
My Oldman's from Yorkshire (Donny town Doncaster) I wanna go visit even just for the history! Looks amazing.
PS: And the M2 doesn't look fugly! It looks really good!
Great video! If you shot and produced this yourself, I am way impressed!!
Well people hated how the g80 and G82 looked and now everyone has one. It’s also awesome that they still come available in a manual gearbox.
It's hideous. Still. This M2 is better looking.
0:00 Sam showing off his inheritance then🤣😂😂😂
