The pricing complaint is kind of strange. Sure, we live in an age where games can be lower than the typical retail price, but this shouldn’t be the expectation. If the price is a sticking point, then just wait for a sale?
You mention that the sales number are low and maybe they are, but this basically more or less comes close to what the original one sold. Kind of hard to gauge since we only get physical sale numbers and not digital sale numbers. However, this has always been a niche series, so to expect it to sell much more than this is odd. That being said, Square Enix was also disappointed by the sale numbers, but it was never going to sell a million copies or anything like that.
Guess I’m not sure what the issues with the graphics are as it pretty much matches what one would expect here given the art style. I suppose this might just be lost on me though because I’m generally fine if I can look at something and understand what it is. I’m just confused on what people expect for “better” graphics since everything looks pretty great.
In terms of the map, I just have to think, this matches what the first game had, so it’s no worse. A single town with shops and side quests. This one even expanded the side quests available. Not sure what else you were expecting since you realize it doesn’t need to be an open world game, so then what did you want? I guess maybe you were expecting more, but that’s just not how TWEWY has ever presented itself in the past, so not sure where this expectation is coming from.
In terms of combat and enemy variety, I mean again, this matches the first game. I think we have even more variety now? That being said, I suppose it would be nice if we had a few more bosses thrown in there. Combat gets more engaging if you crank up the difficulty, so I can only imagine that you just played it on normal and button mashed. And you are allowed to make that choice, but it doesn’t make for a very good argument since you can adjust it. And if you did play on bigger difficulties and still felt like it was button mashing, then you are just a much better gamer I guess. This felt like a good natural choice though without touch controls. Not sure how else you would do it unless you just wanted standard action RPG gameplay.
Different element pins were meant to give deck building a bit more variety in terms of defeating enemies, but not for different animation. This almost seems nit-picky to take an issue about having multiple elements for the same attack types. It’s not really meant to be something deep though, but I suppose again, I don’t know why you were expecting more out of this. Maybe it’s too much of an RPG trope, but I mean, you are playing an RPG.
I somewhat agree that the time travel mechanic outstayed it’s welcome. However, it never felt that you were going through days without consequences since it was a last resort. These sections were pretty small though because you compare this to running dungeons twice, but it’s more like having to do another floor when you did twenty floors already. Annoying but nowhere near the level you present it as.
I’m around your age and this music hits pretty well for me. Probably more of a mindset rather than your age. I think most people agree the music is pretty solid. It’s definitely targeted at a younger generation, so if you don’t like that kind of music, then this music won’t be for you. Idk what else to say here because music is pretty personal for folks, but sad that you couldn’t enjoy it.
Anyways, it mostly sounds like you came into this game expecting something that wasn’t a sequel to TWEWY or maybe more evolution to the series. But nope, you’ll find a pretty safe sequel to TWEWY here. Everything presented is really just about what one should have expected. Aside from some tweaks to how the time travel mechanic goes, I’m not really sure what else would need to change. Maybe more to do in the world, but there was never a precedence for that to happen.

While I disagree with many of your points I respect your opinion and you re not the only one who did’t enjoy the game , I personally loved but I understand that it’s a very subjective thing
The pricing imo is not related to graphics this game has a lot of content and replayability and while the interactions with the world are few it’s still far better than something like Anthem or other AAA games
The combat is mashy I agree but if you dive deep into it there are many options and ways you can customize and build your characters to make the fights flow really well sure it’s no KH2 but it’s still good
I agree that the time travel mechanic was poorly used and gets very repetitive and formulaic after a while

While I majorly disagree with many of the points in this video, it saddens me that there are people out there who are going to get genuinely angry because they found out one person didn’t enjoy the same video game as they did.

Well I will say the game isn't worth the full price tag but as we all know square enix is getting too big for their britches and are making EA quality decisions. The game is for fans of the original, I don't think square should have had a high expectation for the game. But again it is Square we are talking about they are becoming worse and worse (FFXVI PS5 exclusive lol) but the game is very grindy and by the 2nd week I have to slug to jump back in to complete the story as it really is repetitive and you can tell this was kinda rushed out as square especially tetsuya Nomura has other bigger projects to work on and it really shows.
Played the demo, got hyped at the beginning, got bored of the combat. Run around talk about stupid stuff. Combat= Tap X, type Y, tap X.. repeat. Never had to dodge.
I got the game for free this year, and I still don't think it's worth playing.
I'm onto week 2 day 6 and I'm also "forcing" myself to play it, instead of playing the game because it's enjoyable. I really hate to drop a game without finishing it though.
The game drags on for a long time, way too many cutscenes, it should have just been an anime with the amount of cutscenes in it. Just let me play the game.
The music was fine for me though. I enjoyed it. I just didn't enjoy the food system. Having to eat food, then grind mobs, to eat more food. To keep up with the damage sponges that they call enemies.

i watched the whole vid, my question is what were you truly expecting from this game?
Came here after playing this game for two days. I agree with everything you said bar the music, while I don't think it's amazing, it's fitting and I don't mind it in the background. That being said, holy shit I can't stand whenever Japanese writers make characters that are as stupid as they could possibly make them. Ever since the beginning of the game, as the story started to unfold and information was given to the player (which the characters hear) some things are blatantly obvious, like the fact that pins are important and drop from enemies, or that swallow is also in the game etc. What do the characters do with this information? The moment they're told "don't forget to loot the pin from the boss" they don't loot it and it gets stolen. Lets completely disregard the fact that swallow can message us in the afterlife and not ask them for an entire week if they're also dead. Lets not tell our teammates that we can time travel for almost an entire week. Let's naively believe the other team will give us points if we do a task for them. Like holy shit dude playing this game has been a massive chore, fighting the same mobs for 2 days straight and the ones that are new, are just giant bars of health that you spam attacks on them while they do 1 or 2 heavy hitting attacks that are clunky as shit to dodge so you end up just slotting a bunch of ranged attacks and chaining combos into wind ulting for big dam. I also find the fact that the cast/team we get are boring and bland insanely annoying. Why does the main character keep wearing a mask under his goddamn chin? Why is Minamimoto regarded as strong from the get go even though he's literally the same in combat power as the rest. Also who the hell wrote the localization for this game, there's so many zoomer words and expressions, past the start of the game I started button mashing Enter to skip every dialogue because it was just infuriating to go through with it.
Now, why am I writing out this entire longass post on a youtube comment? Idk, just glad I'm not the only one dissatisfied with this game. What a dogshit is.

not that I am disagreeing with your analysis but you haven't played or bought many Nintendo games have you?
I’ve been playing Nintendo games since the NES days. Super Nintendo, Gameboy, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance, Ds, 3Ds etc etc been playing my entire life. Played at least 100+ games on Nintendo consoles alone.
But this game....it sucks. But it’s okay to disagree!
@@EndymionTv I brought it up because I feel a lot of nintendo games, especially some of their remakes don't deserve the $60 USD price tag, Links awakening remake was beautiful and I had a lot of fun playing it (I never played the origional because games of that era look and feel to clunky for me because I didn't grow up with them) but in retrospect I don't think it deserved that price tag. Even some of their new games which are good still don't feel like they should cost that much compared to what some other companies are selling for the same price
It's always a major bummer to be totally hyped for a game that is a continuation of a series you love and then this happens. Sorry it happened to you my friend. Never a fun experience.

Square have lost their way for a while now. It's about the money only and not the consumer/fans. Just look at Avengers and how they are treating their mobile titles, for example the chaos ring series and a number of original final fantasy titles where people have invested 100's of hours and money for the updates and support to just be pulled with little communication or give a duck from Square.
Square has done & still does a lot right, but yes they do fumble from time to time. This is definitely one of those times.

Your problem is you didn't go ENOUGH into all the myriad of awful and disappointing elements in this turd pile of a game! The menuing is sluggish and unfriendly, the characters are all cardboard, the story is a goddamn joke. If you'd gotten a little further you would have seen the genuinely unfair enemies the game throws at you. And the entire time the game has this obsessive pretense of setting up mysteries and questions, peppering you with them over and over, but they have no payoff at all. It's literally groan inducing.
Yup game sucks major cheeks I’m not even interested in watching the ending on UA-cam, the game simply doesn’t exist to me at this point.
