  • This video demonstrates structural difference between Gram Positive, Gram Negative and Acid fast bacteria. Acid Fast Staining Procedure is a differential staining procedure used to differentiate bacteria into acid-fast and non-acid-fast bacteria.
    acid-fast bacteria have a waxy cell wall made from complex hydrocarbon known as mycolic acid. This difference in cell wall composition makes bacterial cells react differently to acid-fast stains.
    After a successful Acid Fast staining procedure, Acid Fast bacteria appear red in color and non-acid Fast bacteria appear blue in color.
