@@HonorGuard117 hi I did and it was great. What would you like to know? I booked a hostel in advance, got a room of 16, had lockers with locks, people were friendly, it was great. There's likely to be others doing solo travelling too, so just say hi 👋
@@soul33naz I have social anxiety and while I can hold a conversation and I'm friendly, I don't initiate and can be awkward depending on situation and also like to keep to myself. Any tips? Will it be ok? Is it ok to keep to myself? Also, do I just say hello or do I keep to myself when strangers enter and my curtains are closed? I don't know how to do it lol
@@HonorGuard117 I don't recall there being curtains where I stayed but there might be in some places. I am the same too and like to keep to myself. If you really wanted to you can still keep yourself to yourself, there will be others that will do just that. Best advice I can give is to not overthink it. If someone approaches, just ready a small smile and say hello. It's not about making friends or anything, it's just a polite thing to say hello to people. The more you do it, the more you get used to it! Most of all, none of it really matters because you're going to have an amazing time no matter what happens! Focus on all the great times you're gonna have, and the social side will just correct itself! I'm so jealous that you're travelling soon, let me know how it goes!
This is great! Thank you for sharing! I just come from your reaction video from fall of 2020, that come up in my feed after watching a lot of your India and Pakistan videos last night. So I scrolled down on your videos and found this. I am a introvert, and also disabled so I can’t travel that easily, but I really love this. Thank you for sharing, and even though I don’t travel, and actually are totally okay with the season I am in, I love learning about different cultures and seeing others traveling different aspects of that. Thanks again, love from Johanne, Norway 🇳🇴
Thank you for this nice video. I am from Germany and I am thinking going to a hostel in New York. What are your experience how easy it is to get to know new people and do some activities with them? Especially how many people are there in general with the same idea to make some stuff with new people they don‘t know. Are there many people who are planing the trip they are doing spontaneous?
I was lucky to find a twin room, with a cooker, so I had only had one person, and I didn't have to meet others. If I wanted to go out, good hostels would have notice board. Avoid partying and bar, sounds awful. There are also women only hostels which are nice and safe. Yes, I found a small private room too, it was great.
Hi ellie .. I am prakash.. Whata tips..ellie u have lot of experience talent. ..that will make best women. .. And ellie did u get silver button any gift from UA-cam. ..ok boy...
Thanks! As an introverted first-time-solo traveller with social anxiety, this video really helps 😅. Looking forward to my trip now.
That's so good to hear! Thanks for watching and commenting to let me know :)
Hey mate did you end up solo travelling and staying in a hostel? I'd like to know your experiences as I'm going to be doing it soon

Never knew you could get a private room in a hostel. Love that idea!
As a shy person this video really helped. I like to travel solo because I don't love company of others.
I'm looking to solo travel for the first time in Europe. Thanks for the tips, I hope I can meet new people and new friends
Did you go? Did you make friends easily? I want to go travelling but worried I’m not out going enough
This is great! Thank you for sharing!

I'm autistic and wanting to learn to travel solo. Good luck to us!
Nice!! As an introvert this was really helpful, hostels are what allow us all to travel for extended periods of time. thanks for the tips!
They really do! Often a night in a hotel can be the price of a weeks accommodation in hostels can't it! Thanks for watching.
over 100 hostels hats off to you I'm only round 20 something its great totally agree with you
haven't seen a video like this but as a disliker of crowds and people this is very helpful! thanks for sharing!
You're welcome, thanks for watching.
traveling alone is such a blessing : ) but i do like them hostels mainly cuz they are cheap and i just use them to sleep and shower, nothing else
That's it, they're good cheap bases. Like I said, I couldn't have travelled as much as I have without them! :)
I like to book a private room in a hostel so I have my own space to work and chill but also have the community too - best of both worlds!! ha ha
yes that's my perfect option too!
Thank you so much! You really spoke my mind and eased my worries

my biggest problem is during team buildings and overnight activities. so i never attended any of those. i dont like sharing rooms.
I really like the idea of meeting people while travelling, but I feel like I wouldn’t be out going enough to make good friends
