I want to add - if you use any apps to meet people, please be careful and use your best judgement. Meet in a public place and tell somewhere where you're going and who you're meeting up with. Always trust your intuition and leave a situation if it feels off. Better to be safe with these sorts of things.
Yey to us introverts. I'm very nervous around people in london so lord knows how I will survive italy. But will def try. Also can't wait for my stickers! Xx
Yay! I have a video all about traveling as an introvert coming very soon! I think you'll be more comfortable in Italy because you won't know anyone! At least that's usually true for me 😊
@@mari.johnson good point, will see. I stammer so that may determine how I feel when meeting people but I'm going to definitely try. I'm open minded and hearted so that should help. I'm not going to get along with everyone and I have a fairly good sense of character so will use my intuition. How's your cross country walk plans going? Xx
Yes, being open minded and hearted should definitely help! It's going good so far, but haven't done too much yet. I'll do most starting mid January after I get my permit :)
I love hostels/backpackers and super cheap budget accomodation, but my wife hates it, she wants 5 star hotel rooms so we either get that or compromise on a motel/cabin, LOL. I miss my single man days when I got to go to backpackers....
@@mari.johnson Hiya, Yeah the getaway was lovely, I only wish it was sunnier and less cloudy, I also didn't make any friends, but I went out at night for walks and dinner. It was a sweet outing.
Hi Mari! Great suggestions here. I stayed in the YHA hostels on my recent trip to New Zealand. They were very nice, comfortable, and clean. I would definitely recommend them and will stay there again.
Hi Mari, This is an excellent video. Really informative. Well done and thanks for sharing. I find making friends now much easier than when I was younger. I think self confidence makes a huge difference. When I travelled over to New Zealand, I met plenty of really nice people. When you mentioned couch surfing, I immediately thought of taking my lounge room couch to the beach and riding the waves. LOL. I always use public transport when I travel. It is always interesting travelling on the local transport, when in a new place. Anyway, take care, Rob.
You soon outgrow those 3 popular questions, It works really well though. I've used them many times. Also asking where there from. Having a guess can be fun until you call an America a Canadian or vice versa. Also ran 3 outta 4 days slowly back on the fitness train.
Hi Mari How are you, I am from India accidentally i saw your vietnam videos, those are really nice, now i am your subscriber. keep making nice videos. Have a nice time. Bye
Another tip (of course only if you're into it or want to get into it) could be: Nowadays these instant cameras are quite popular again. You know, the ones which print the picture right after taking it. I can imagine that this could be an interesting way to meet new people. Like, doing two pictures of you and the other one, write your address, email or other stuff on the back of one photo and the contact of the other one on the second photo. Then you can give the photo with your info to the other person and you take the one with his/her info. Maybe it's a bit more personal style to keep in touch, but it is a different one than just adding each other on facebook for sure. (And probably older people like this way more)
Have a look at this video... ua-cam.com/video/R7vmHGAshi8/v-deo.html it talks about travelling with no money. Our biggest fear to travelling is the first step. Take that first one an the momentum will carry you onwards. Hope this helps.
