- Keio Plaza Hotel is conveniently located a 5 minutes walk from Shinjuku station West exit. It was the first skyscraper built in Nishi-Shinjuku and the first high-rise hotel in Japan. It was also the tallest building in Tokyo from 1970 until 1974. They just celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2021.

This is our go to hotel almost every time we visited Tokyo. It is one from few other hotels in Shinjuku that served by airport limousine bus so its very convenient. Its just 10 minutes walk from Shinjuku station and easy access to many destinations in Shinjuku area
Thank you for sharing the information! Yes, the location is really great. If you have a large suitcase, a limousine bus is much more convenient than a train.
Let me know if you have go-to hotels outside Tokyo!
We've been to Japan seven times , and always stay at The Keio :)
It's a great hotel and location!
I stayed there with my families on the 38th floor for a few days in Autumn 1975 before we went to Osaka then to Okinawa to see World Expo '75.
Wow! That's amazing! Shinjuku must be so different back then.
@@tabi_ku_hotel Well, I don't recall the area because we never explored the surrounding area; we just took a group tour to see Tokyo city by bus, which picked us at the hotel. At the other day, we took a taxi to go to Ginza to meet my relative who happened to visit Tokyo for a few months.
Then on the last day, we took a taxi to the railway station to board the Shinkansen to Osaka.
I just know a little bit more about Shinjuku when I visited Tokyo again in October 2017. I went to the rooftop at the government building in front of the Keio Plaza Hotel. And took some pictures of the hotel. Brought back old memories. I wished I could stay at that hotel, but it was too expensive for me. Perhaps in the future, I could stay there.
Is it possible to book the same hotel room I stayed in back then in 1975? Do they still have the record?
@@tabi_ku_hotel Yes, it was amazing. This was the first time I went abroad. I was in highschool at that time.
@@as-1982 Thank you so much for sharing your memories!
I'm not sure if they have old records. But you should definitely check. You never know.
i´t was a nice hotel! was there in November :)
Did you stay at any other hotels?
@@tabi_ku_hotel I Was APA Hotel Asakusa Tawaramachi-Ekimae and Capsule Land Yushima (Male Only)
@@matis1514 How was Capsule Land Yushima?
@@tabi_ku_hotel It was clean and nice. Not very quaiet (someones alarm beeping 2 hours :D). But sauna was good, and Staff was also very nice.
@@matis1514 Thank you so much for sharing the info!
As a traveler(planning to visit shibuya, daikanyama, kitchijoji, asakusa etc) I'm still considering to stay Keio plaza or hyatt regency..(or somewhere else in Shibuya). Which one do you recommend more? If we stay at hyatt, we will reserve renovated deluxe room.
Could you please recommend among them?
I'm also considering hyatt 1 night+keio 2 nights but it seems quite a waste of time to get back to hotel for second check-in😂
I'm a fan of Hyatt, but our room was old when we stayed at Hyatt Regency in Shinjuku. I'd say Keio Plaza, for sure. However, it's a tough choice if you can stay in the renovated room at the Hyatt. It's pretty much the same location-wise.
Yes, it makes more sense to stay in one hotel. I personally like staying in different hotels too. From my experience, I'd say Keio Plaza. Again this is a very tough choice.
How much did it cost you? I am about to book japan but suprised at how high the rates have become
Fortunately, we didn't pay for this stay but I’m guessing it was around ¥25,000 or ¥30,000. I noticed the hotel prices have been high in general lately. Hope they go down soon. Have a good trip!
Could you please transfer to USA dollars?
Hi, which room is this ? thank you
I believe that was Plaza Deluxe South Tower Twin.
