    I bought my 2012 F-150 Lariat 5.0 8cyl 4x4 with 115,000 miles in 2019. As of 10/2023 it has 144,355 miles,and running good. I do know, whenever you buy a used vehicle, you must give it your touch of love to maintain it. I have the oil, air filter, transmission, front & rear differential oil, sparkle plugs changed, coolant flushed, new radiator, hoses, AC serviced, new battery, new rims & tires, new rotors & brake pads, new bedcover, new stereo & short antenna, new front seat covers & new floor mats all within the 4 years I have own it. I am always trying to learn more about my F-150. Continue to share your knowledge with me.

    Best generation of ford in my opinion. That and the 70's and 80's

    • @sean-yb5hc
      @sean-yb5hc 4 роки тому +3

      That generation dramatically changed the game for Ford, and even arguably, the global truck market permanently. The Raptor name is world-known and now the Ranger Raptor is being sold overseas, and even created a class of its own out of a not-so-known world of baja racing, and now forcing FCA to come out with their own competitor after many years of "unanswered points" for Ford. The very bold, love it or hate it, move to develop and introduce a twin turbo V6 engine in the American truck market, and sell well, was/is wild to say the least, to include driving massive changes across all of their trucks and SUVs - heck even mustangs have the 4 cylinder "ecoboost" engines too. Not to mention GM is now putting turbo-boosted engines in their trucks now too. Definitely the most innovative generation for Ford and transformed so much for the global, and obviously more relevant North American, auto market. This was a critical time for Ford as well, having survived and then thrived after the '08 economic mess that left so many other major auto players in pieces. Hey, my truck may burn a little oil, but it is the king of trucks and all the haters are always going to hate the king.

    Pro tip: Keep your eyes peeled for a 2009 Flareside F-150 as they are incredibly rare. 2009 was the last year a flareside bed option was ever offered on the F-150 (or any other half-ton pickup for that matter) and 2009 was also the only model year during the entire run of the 12th gen F-150 (2009 - 2014) that a flareside bed option was available. Especially rare are the super cab and super crew cab versions as the majority of the very few '09 Flareside that were built were Regular cabs.

    I have a 2010 Super Cab, 4.6 eng., 122K mi. on it, purchased new. I had a terrible shudder in it 2 years ago that turned out to be the center support bearing for the 2 piece drive shaft and is a non serviceable item. Replaced original driveshaft 3/15/19. Problem solved. About 18 months later the truck started to shudder at takeoff and left turn again accompanied by a rumble that got progressively louder. It sounded like the differential was tearing up. Turned out that the new drive shaft center support bearing(NON SERVICEABLE item) had gone bad. The manufacturer made it good. A one piece driveshaft would eliminate this and they can be custom manufactured. I also had new front struts/rear shocks and inner tie rod ends replaced last week. All is good, the only other problem I ever had was a puppy chewed the wiring harnesses to some of the emission system and dealer replaced that.

Note, 2009-2011 had two 4.6 v8 options. There was a 2v 4.6 with 4 speed automatic, and a 3v 4.6 with 6 speed automatic. You can tell the difference by looking at the instruction cluster gear selector. The four speeds with have "P N R D 1 2", the six speeds will have "P R N D 1 2 3". The 2v 4.6 is known to be almost bullet proof, it wad the exact same powertrain as the crown vic. The 3v did have a couple issues with spark plugs and oil pumps, but not as bad as some of the 5.4 v8s. 2009-2011 were the only two years with a 3v 4.6 and the first time the F150 did not offer a 6 cylinder. 2011-2014 is also the only years where the F150 and the Super Duty shared a common engine, the 6.2 "boss" v8. There were two variants of the 6.2. The "standard" 6.2 v8 was optional with the Lariat and Limited trims with 411hp 434 tq with a max tow rating of 12k. The heavybuty package were badged "f250" with an f150 body, had a 1,800lbs payload, and had a 7 lug wheel. There was a High Output supercharged 6.2 v8 with 575 hp only offered in the Raptor. 2010 is the ONLY year the Raptor had the 3v 5.4 v8 with 320hp 390 tq.

      I bought a 2013 F150 Lariat Ecoboost 4x4 at the end of May 2021. Was in an almost head on in it two months later which totaled the truck.. My "Built Ford Tough' truck probably saved me along with some quick manuevering on my part. Loved the truck..but had it in the shop twice for check engine light before the crash. So Im looking for another F150..trying to research my options. Not sure if I want the Ecoboost but I need to the towing power for toyhauler. I loved my truck!! But it came with 168000 miles. Would buy that one again. for the price .except I won't find that one again..

    I’ve owned my ‘09 FX4 Luxury Edition S/crew since ordering it new. Back in ‘09 I never imagined I’d keep it this long but it’s been a great, basically trouble free truck given proper maintenance. It still runs, drives and looks almost new so really I can see getting another 10 years out of it easy if I choose to. I’ve changed my other vehicles out a few times since then but with the truck it’s like it’s long paid for and nothing is wrong with it so why not keep it? I keep hearing horror stories about the 5.4 3v but mine runs as quiet as the day I bought it maybe due to properly maintaining it since day 1.

Haven't done any good hold my beer and watch this type of stuff in it but my personal shooting range is buried in the wood and when its rains it very soft. But had zero problems getting to and from there. Never had to lock the rear diff. Plus bone stock it will smoke most nontuned gas trucks, and even some cars. Plus with the right color truck there definitely the best looking since 1986 to now. My opinion of course.

    I don't like they used foam in the rear wheel wells. Moisture stays there and rusts form. Also the shafts for the wipers wiggle a lot. Cheaply made. Makes a racket (cluck, cluck) when it's raining and your stopped at a red ligth. I found the headrests too much foward but learned this autunm that you tip them foward and they can be adjusted. Could have made fender skirts lower because water and salt goes on the alternator and other stuff under the hood. I made my own. The guy who had it before me said not to drive with the tailgate down, It will unhook. Had the stupid cheap plastic door striker not raise enough and could not get the door closed unless I raised it with my key. Some LPS solved that. And the most important, This is a 6500 lbs truck. What were Ford thinking putting out these trucks with sissy passenger tires. I never had so many flats on a vehicle. Trucks this size should come out the factory with LT tires. If I'd be a dealer i'd order all my trucks with LT tires. I shot mine with bar chain oil atf and diesel fuel. It already had started to rust in the left rocker panel under the door. Mine is just a small STX shorty. Got a Leer box. Wish I had a Lsd. Love the 3.7, has more HP than a big block from the 80's.

    12th gen f150s are my favorite modern body style ford, I’ve got a 2010 4.6 3v crew cab shirt bed 4wd with 315k miles and I’m paying on my grandpas 2011 5.0 4wd his is a crew cab long bed xl, both are solid trucks and I would drive the older truck to California and back with no worries.

    Is it just me or does anyone else also think Ford took a step back when it comes to exterior design with these trucks? I felt like they went backwards a bit with the blocky headlights and giant grill that went into the hood. I was never a fan of it, it just looked a bit off to me for some reason. The 15+ trucks look awesome and are the best looking F150s since the 2004's IMO.

    Dont forget about the rear window (with center slide) that spontaneously explodes. On my 3rd one. If you scream loud enough they replace it for free.
