I completely agree with your comment. Jimmy Stewart is one of my favourite actors ever...I never had the pleasure of meeting this fine gentleman but I am very sure that he was just a really nice guy.
Jimmy Stewart was not a comedian. He was actor that was also a teller of stories. He was not slapstick or over-the-top. He was also a national hero. Mr. Stewart was a highly decorated bomber pilot in WWII. He remained in the U-S. Air Force Reserve after the war and retired as a Major General. During the war he received two Distinguished Flying Crosses and became a combat wing commander flying B-17s and B-24s. After the warn he became a B-52 pilot and commanded a reserve wing. He was also an Academy Award winner. Quite a life for a small town boy.
LOL :) just the way he tells it... what a gift to the US and world he is!! Such a great and there can be no more beloved man! Oh we so LOVE YOU Jimmy Stewart always, all ways forever! Just seeing him makes me happy; thanks for posting
Married and totally in love with the same woman for about 50 years, served with distinction in WWII and the reserve in Vietnam. Highest ranking person in Hollywood serving first in the US Army and then in the Air Force. A true and loyal friend to people like John Wayne and came out of retirement to make 'The Shootist' even though he couldn’t hear a word. Made some of the greatest films ever, my personal favourite being The Glen Miller Story with June Allyson. A man all Americans should be proud of if he was one of ours he would at the very least have been knighted and probably would have been made a lord. Most importantly of all… …he didn’t shoot Liberty Valance.
My uncles were like this, spoke with wisdom and confidence. Their jokes were very keen. Our current generation doesn’t honor this anymore. Miss those days.
Jimmy Stewart has a very special place in my heart. I met him in New York City at the stage door after seeing him perform in 'Harvey' I handed him my playbill and asked for his autograph. He took the playbill and my hand. He looked at me with his cute grin and wouldn't let my hand go. He stood there holding my hand for over a half hour, holding my hand. It was a night and an experience I will never forget. I love you Mr. Stewart, wherever you are. Thank you for that special time.
Chris, I didn't even know he did all that in his military career. I still loved him as an actor and I always could "sense" that in his personal life yes he was a great man and good in his heart and he was honorable and warm. He's also one of these people that we've never heard any dirt on from the godforsaken press either.
Run this joke on TV today and the audience would be left scratching their heads. Unless it's vulgar, slapstick, brash or obvious, nobody sees nuance, puns or reversals as humorous. Comedy today is a Kardashian taking a selfie or a comedians talking about their dicks or vaginas. Western Civilization is in decline.

There were two guys playing golf, and a funeral passed, so one guy stopped, and waited for the funeral to pass before continuing with his game. His companion complimented him on his respect for the funeral, to which the guy replied, 'Well, its the least I could do, we were married for forty years!'

The joke wasn't the best, but that's okay because Jimmy Stewart was the best! They just don't make them like him anymore. Those days and those actors are gone forever. I am so grateful that I got to enjoy these fine entertainers.
My thoughts exactly. For those of us who were fans of the man a lot of the humour here is in his typical hesitant way of telling the joke. I feel that this is probably a generational thing, many younger people simply can't understand a joke that isn't filled with expletives.
At this point in his life he's an old guy, so understandably a little slower, but still golden. You have to look at it in context. If you don't get the joke at all, no-one can help you. It's a clever yet simple joke but maybe beyond some. My father met him on a BOAC transatlantic flight in the early 60's. He had a good chat with him and described him as one of the most friendly, easy going people you could meet. So that says it all for me. Fan of his movies and his style. Sadly missed.
He is and always be my favorite man of all time along with John Wayne, both were what this country is all about and never again will another man like J.S. be near the hero as such

I love his acting in the old westerns. He's the favorite actor of all, for lots and lots of people, including myself. He rode a horse naned Pie in 17 films, from 1954 to the 1970s and refered to Pie as one of the greatest co-stars he's worked with. Pie loved Jimmy too and they had a strong bond. Quite unusual since Pie belonged to someone else. From this veteran's POV, Jimmy's military career is impressive, and he had many medals and ribbons to his credit, as a pilot in WWII and Vietnam. Respect.
and then the director says... "cut and that's a wrap." They did exactly what the director and producers wanted them to do and say. It was not their lines or actions.

Got to love Jimmy Stewart, such a great actor.
He’s been my favourite Actor. Such a lovely voice.
Jimmy Stewart was one of the greatest actors ever. So much respect for him. Loved him in Shenandoah!
Loved that movie. He made some great movies that entertained and you watched them over and over thru out the years because they were that good. Harvey, it's a wonderful Life, who killed liberty valance, just to name a few. He acted with great actors and actresses. His movies you remember.
Many don't know, Jimmy Stewart, Major General, USAF. Semper Fidelis Jimmy, one of the finest men that ever lived!
I think he was a brigadier.1 star. pretty incredible none the less. Very down to earth guy. no pun intended.
He and Gen. Doolittle were great friends. I remember in the 1980s he came to a big event honoring Gen. Doolittle in Monterey Ca. he was literally and figuratively a giant among the notables gathered there that day. Big thrill for me to see him in person like that.

Jimmy is a great person, He used to come up to Cross Forks Pennsylvania to fish and relax. He loved it there because nobody star gazed him for pictures and autographs, He was just another person there.
I had a cabin there and would see him often. Those were the good old days and when he passed away I missed him a lot.

okay you haters in the comments he's not Carlin or Pryor or Louis C.K. in this clip but I didn't expect him to be . he was paradigmatically Jimmy Stewart and that's why I loved this adorable video. we were blessed to have him in this world for as long as we did. thank you for posting it ☺
I completely agree with your comment.

I think thats the charming part...he's NOT one of those guys. He just is Ji,,y Stewart being himself.

Hello Cheryl, How are you doing?
The greatest of great voices. I can hear all his western roles in that voice!!
His appearances on Carson were fantastic - he always read a hilarious poem that he'd written. Class act all the way and a genius to boot.
James Stewart, was a class act. They don’t make them like that anymore. The world was a better place with him around.
Most importantly of all…
…he didn’t shoot Liberty Valance.
Well said. See who said nice guys finish last? He had A WONDERFUL LUFE!
Finally a good old movie reference 😂
One of the BEST EVER! I will always fondly remember sneaking up to watch all your shows on late night T.V.
"The man said 'Marg'- no it was the other way round" is the most Jimmy Stewart thing I've ever heard
My uncles were like this, spoke with wisdom and confidence. Their jokes were very keen. Our current generation doesn’t honor this anymore. Miss those days.
Love him - he was my favorite actor. They don't make them like that anymore (unfortunately).

He's also one of these people that we've never heard any dirt on from the godforsaken press either.

A great example of humor in an age where subtlety reigned over brash vulgarity. The comedy of civility.
I was thinking similar thoughts while watching The Greatest Show On Earth last night.

The delivery was great .
Harvey 🐰 is my Favorite Jimmy Stewart movie. A rare type the world needs more of right now, he was. A gentlemen's man for sure. ❤
Jimmy Stewart, great actor, great WW2 veteran.
Funny, and not one foul word!
He seems to understand the check list when speaking… Is it True is it Kind does it Help ? God bless Jimmy Stewart 😇❤️🙏

Respect.
He seemed to play the same character in all his movies but he was brilliant at it.
and then the director says... "cut and that's a wrap." They did exactly what the director and producers wanted them to do and say. It was not their lines or actions.
