Head down in your books and study. Try not to get wrapped up with these people. If you find you are.. back off. Crosby is right - they will suck you down into a rabbit hole you DON'T want to be in. Keep positive. Nursing school is tough but many before have survived and its completely worth it!! You CAN do it!!

THIS!! I hate it! Every single class, always one or two.
The know it all in my class.. .Was great at critiquing others but hates criticism. Could not handle being told she was wrong.

And hate those who becomes friend with those people start acting just like them💩
I always had issues with the know it all people who knew how to do everything and all the medical term, but they couldn’t do jack when it came to hands on. I always said I’m a B student and may not remember the clinical terms right off the top of my head, but I -will- save their life. This has happened a lot when I was a lvn and now an RN. But that’s me lol
LOL Yeah the know it alls bothered me so bad! Get them in the clinical and for some reason you couldn't fins them when time to do some hands on stuff haha
The Negative One. The Know It All. The Lazy One. The Drama Queen. The Jealous One. I’m 33. Took me YEARS to get into school. Keep your head in the books. Don’t get too involved with your classmates unless they work as hard as you do. I do sit in the front though. No harm in letting the professor see your into your studies. Just don’t be the know it all ;) haha
I just show up , pass my exams, study my tail off and hang out with non nursing people in my free time 😂. Works great.
I'm the type that treats everyone the same and I'll just have my head in my books anyways. I'll let the other people scrap it out their momentary BS won't get in the way of my long term goals.

Great information. I was always the one in the back corner by the door watching everyone else and keeping to myself. I had all 5 types of people in my class.

Stay away from the know it all smart student. The moment you do better then them they spread rumors cause they assume no one can know more then them.

Yep and always eager to know what the next person made on a test/assignment.
One of my classmates has all 5 behaviors and never pass her finals, she always get help from the instructor because the first thing she does is become a good friend with the instructor so they will help her every time she fails exam.

I'm a recovering know it all. However it gets painful when the instructor is up there like Bueller..... Bueller..... And you know what she's looking for and no one else is responding. But I am trying.

@@NurseNessaMaintaining I am also a bit of know it all, but if i really DO know. I don’t open my mouth just to say random things, and i know when i am wrong, clearly. Nothing wrong with making mistakes, and learning.
I always sit at the front of the class because it forces me to stay awake XD

I sit up front because I can't hear well. I wear hearing aids, but sitting up front still helps!
I have to sit up front because I have a hearing loss from a military injury.
This isn't completely true, some people who sit in front just need less distractions.

This is so true !
There is a girl in my clinical group who constantly complaining that she doesn't want to be there. It honestly brings everyone down at 7am
don't listen to her , she is an energy drainer . You should spend your hours of clinical exposure with fun to avoid stress .
Already have these people in the class. Into the 3rd week of the first semester complaining how hard is to wake up. Professors suck, right. Non stop brining the energy down and also looking jealous onto others who are happy to be there and learn. I thought such people don’t make it into this programs, i was wrong. There are all type of people.

I remember being in class, and many students were struggling, and it was this one guy who kept saying how hard the class is and said he’s struggling too. He made us believe him, and come to find out he was getting A’s in the courses while we all thought it was impossible, he kind of used some reverse psychology on us and had us all fooled. All along he was laughing behind our backs while he was getting high marks. He was a weirdo.

I'm sorta guilty of that. I have gotten 4 A's out of 6 tests, and I feel awful that others didn't, so I don't brag about my grades outwardly because it's rude. And when we have a student crying abt how hard the test was, I just agree, knowing deep down that it was super easy for me. I just don't want them to feel like I'm bragging so I just agree. That's not sinister it's being compassionate.
But I do give advice when I'm asked how I study.

Something similar but a little different, I am in LPN Nursing School and many of the RN students look down on us! They have that prissy attitude and even told one of my classmates that they don’t “talk to people below them”. I don’t know if this is a common issue in nursing schools???
The low performer: does part time load has no responsibilities still lives off of family members, stays up all night scrolling reddit and Instagram. Turns up late to class wants you to help (do) their assignments.
Halfway through my first semester and I already can find the fatal five.

Forget nursing school and these people, they are working in the hospitals. The first one you described will get you fired. So will the hater. It’s funny how you described these people, it’s true. I think I used to be a princess but not anymore. But I never looked down on anyone.
i had the negative one the first day of class, she tried to talk to me and be my friend, but her negativity turned me off so much i avoided her, she dropped out shortly after first test of course lol

I agree Julie, Mac, the world's full of narcissists and other troubled people who choose not to behave like they ought. U have to get along with them, anyway. It's stressful. But that's just life. You bite your tongue a lot.

Any tips for first semester burnout? One Thing I hate is I’m an over achiever not intentionally I just try to give my all in everything I do and forget tht I need to give myself a break at times! I tend to stay in da background so I’m focused while in lecture so I’m not distracted by da things around me! I don’t want to be just that average mediocre nurse I want to be tht nurse that goes above and beyond for her patients to give them the type of care they deserve so I try to study with tht mentality
Tiyana Smith Take it one day at a time. Nursing school can be overwhelming at times. Just stay in the background until it’s time for clinicals. Then shine bright like a diamond.
You need to have you time too, I do the 2-1 ratio. Two hours studying and one hour of me time where I clean or relax a bit while mulling over what I studied
#1 Don't stress yourself out!! Also I will do a video just for you on this topic, because people that are very motivated and smart have the same problem that you do. Look for it on Saturday or Sunday

Ramona Elizabeth Livingston Nursing does. It is probably the most attractive profession in the world right now. It's the type of a job where you can go ANYWHERE in the world and find a job. Sadly, that's not the same with all the other careers.

How about the one who sits in the middle because there is nothing actually special or industrious about him and instead of being at peace with it he is sore as hell about it and have to to on social media to spread the alleged need to not stand out or be particularly good at anything.
