- I talk about travel nursing and give you some tips on choosing a travel nursing specialty. Travel Nursing can be hard to understand such as housing, pay, and what it means to be a travel nurse. This video breaks down the different things to consider when deciding to become a travel nurse. If I were becoming a travel nurse for the first time I would think really heard about the specialty. I would also think about picking the right travel nurse company as well. I hope this video helps you understand a little better.

Thank for watching! 9 days until I leave for Santa Fe, NM!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ On the time I did travel nursing , I truly enjoyed it mainly because of the people I met & bond with plus having the fortune to travel to some great places & discover my own abilities of adaptation. Lastly, I did travel nursing for 2yrs. & is an experience that I treasure, thanks for posting this video, as I wish you always the very best..........Abrazos
Man just got word I passed my LPN Nclex, looking forward to getting some nursing experience, and starting LPN-RN school in December. Bring on some travel nursing videos so I can start planning!
Hell yeah!!! Congrats!! That’s awesome
The Nomad Nurse man I have to say thank you for your content and hard work. I’ve really learned a lot, and you’ve given me reasons to keep going when nursing school sucks.
Man that’s exactly why I do this! For comments like that
Wow, I really like this nurse and his channel. Watch him frequently. As a travel nurse currently in NYC for covid, he's been super helpful. I have to say.. "Girls?" And that "he as a guy can look out for himself" but I as a "girl" nurse might end up dead if I don't "tread carefully" when finding housing? I understand it might be part of southern culture to call women girls. But a girl is a child. A girl doesn't know how to crack your chest in order to bring your heart back or titrate your drips with exacting precision so you don't crash out - especially in the ER. A girl doesn't drive a tank in combat - a woman does. And if I can hike 2500 miles in the wilderness alone for 3 months, I feel somewhat confident that I can find an air bnb. The diminuation of females like this feels out-dated. He's usually so insightful and exact, but those few sentences felt off. Again, I appreciate, benefit from! and have much respect for all he does, and how he’s teaches. It was those few sentences that I didn’t expect.
No disrespect intended. Just how I talk. I also understand that women do have to be more cautious than men as they tend to be more targeted. I also don't think women are less capable in anything, but I try to present realistic situations
The Nomad Nurse I do agree that women tend to be targeted for certain things more than men; I find that to be true in this country and internationally. I agree women have to think about certain things that men don’t need to and I appreciate you mentioning this as a concern or general idea to be aware of. I hear that you’re wanting to look out for us. I think part of what I was responding to was a language or cultural difference. Calling women girls is like calling us chicks or kittens. It infantilizes us, no matter how subtle or “that’s just how people talk” it seems. As a woman I can only say for myself that that’s how it’s heard, and it sounds out of touch. I did edit my comments above because I realized they were responding to a larger systemic issue, and not just your use of language, which I didn’t think was accurate. Again, thank you for the work you consistently put out, it’s high quality, on point and benefits so many. This feedback is a small piece of the good you offer. Still, it is a piece. Hoping you and yours are safe and healthy at this time; and thank you for your service wherever you’re working in the ER right now.
You as well. Thank you 😊 Stay safe
Thank you so much for your advices, specially about housing situation. You are right about being open minded. Travel nursing sounds so awesome. Excited for your upcoming trip and new videos. 😎
Thank you so much!! I’m looking forward to sharing it all!
Crosby, do this company give you some perks if you send referrals to others, potential travel nurses? If so, I will be happy to help if I ended up using them in the future.
Yes they actually do! 😊
@@CrosbyTheNomadNurse well... I will remember that! 🙃
Can't wait to get into travel nursing! Been in the OR for just over a year now. Once I get that 2 years, I'm giving it a shot. I love seeing these videos from you. It really helps to know what to look out for as a potential new travel nurse. And I agree, I'm much more inclined to take a travel assignment in a cool location as opposed to just looking for the highest rate.
MahaloMoFo I am in the OR too but I hit my one year mark in June. The learning curve is so big, and i don’t have a specialty because I float everywhere. It’s overwhelming but I am just embracing the craziness lately and it feels so much better. 😂
Whats up man! Been awhile! How you been?
@@CrosbyTheNomadNurse Doing well, just super busy with work. Kind of ready to take a break away from a Level 1 lol.
I bet! That' some intense work, it can drain you
Good content as always! Looking forward to the next video. I am curious about the current rates for the OR. I am so glad I started in the OR as a new grad. I started in a pediatric OR (that was though), so I transitioned to an adult OR. Trying to learn as much as I can in my current trauma 1 facility. I currently debating on just taking a PRN position in a high paying area or doing travel nursing. Both would give me the flexibility that I want to do other things such as travel and spend more time with my loved ones.
It seems that OR is really in need at the moment. I wold look into traveling if I were you. It seems like theres good money to be made.
The Nomad Nurse it seems like most travel agencies want that 2 year experience for the OR. Still need another year to travel then. I have read about nurses that struggle getting assignments with less than 2 years experience, is that true?
At my current job, I have been pushing myself to learn as much as possible. I didn’t join a specialty team on purpose so I don’t become too comfortable. I have been working in all specialties.
Just passed my nursing school finals and will pass NCLEX soon! Already have a job as an or circulator but I can’t wait to travel after a couple years💪🏻 or less! I’m just worried about how my card playing skills will transfer when I’m a traveler 😰
Thats AWESOME!! Congrats! Gotta get them Card skills up LOL
Who is your recruiter?
Lol I just scanned the comments and was truly surprised I didn’t find any angry females waving pitch forks after that “guys can take care of themselves girls you be careful” comment 😂👍
Totally good advice but i could see people getting butt hurt about it 😆 lol
Thanks for the video man!
