Hey Austin I’m 14yrs old and practicing to start my pipelining career when I get out of high school. I got hooked on welding because my brother does it and he let me do it and I love it. My dad owns a pipeline company called CCI , community construction incorporated, so I should be able to find someone to be a helper for to start off. I already got $12k saved for my first rig
Check your transfer case and rear differential fluid. Takes less than 10 mins and is a sense of security considering it's a minimum 1k fix if you blow one or the other due to lack of fluids.
Hey man I’ve been watching your videos lately and don’t even weld. You’ve got a great attitude towards life and it’s really refreshing. Your work ethic is inspiring and I wish great things for you in the future.
Sorry to be off topic but does anybody know a way to log back into an instagram account? I was stupid lost the account password. I love any tricks you can give me

Hey Austin I love your content and I’m looking to be a welder I’m finishing high school plan to learn how to weld but.....although I would love to pipeline weld I am wanting to come home every night to the family. Would there be a company to work for where I could be home every day? Or would it be better to look into a mobile welding business? Hope you answer me and keep up with the great videos!
I’m a new subscriber..just found out your videos and I wanted to become a pipeline welder as well just kinda iffy about location I know some people aren’t too accepting but my main question is how do you become a helper
Rain out and you still get 5 hours. How cool is that? I'm a journeyman Carpenter and I just curious about pipe welding job. I only been through apprenticeship welding class i never got certified but, Im interested in welding. But you have nice attitude on rainout. Usually our rainout we don't get paid lol 😂. Thanks for your video. I enjoyed watching. I'm thinking of taking a welding test. But I like to practice first.
We absolutely love it! We do recommend the separate machines. Not the all in one washer and dryer combo. A lot of people say they are not very efficient. Takes forever to dry.
Hey Austin do a video on why you joined the union and what you liked about it and how you join and how it all works. Please and thank you man love your videos.
Could try to make a video on like if your truck breaks down that morning just on how you would let people know so it doesn’t look like you are skipping work or what not
Austin, you been at this for like 7 years now. All the expenses you have , truck/rig, mobile home, fuel, repairs and maintenance, lot rental, insurance, every expense that you incur being a pipeliner living on the road, what do you figure the annual cost is for one year? Please do not include things like food that you would have to buy even if you were home every day. Thanks and best wishes.
We have talked about expenses before, but I'll have to think on that one. A lot. lol I'll try to get you a better number, but it will be different for everyone depending on lifestyle, gas mileage, etc, etc... everyone's taste and needs are different. I know it varies a lot depending on who you are.
The SearcherMan that’s 100% up to the hand !!!!!!! Some guys are reckless with spending so it’s easy to live check to check Job to job!!!!! My personal experience is don’t get married and have a bunch of dam kids and you can live like a king as a pipewelder!!!!!!!! You marry a woman with no income and all your money is gonna be spent on housing feeding and clothing your family !!!!!!!!!!!!! Stay single and live the good life or marry a woman with her own income if not you’ll be a broke ass married man running the road living check to check!!!!!!!!!
Roll Tide- Yes, but doesn’t that 1 ton 4x4 Dually and mobile home cost north of $100,000? Plus the equipment and fuel, lot rent, taxes? Then you have your real home and expenses. Its a very good paying job with 798. But my concern would be the number of welders being pumped out by tech schools, along with how much you actually would clear after expenses. I would suspect that it is somewhat difficult and expensive to join 798. Austin has a great personality, which I am sure has helped his career, along with an older brother in the trade. Any trade that pays what 789 does is going to be hard. Also, I suppose you get unemployment when laid off.
The SearcherMan my first camper cost me 2,000 my truck was 38,000 I’m currently single hand welding in oil refineries making about the same money as I was with my rig!!!!!! It’s plenty of work out here!!!!! Yes it’s a lot of welder who think they can weld up to Code but the reality is it’s a small welding world because of the back ground checks hair follicle drug testing and then you got go pass all the test.... it really ain’t that many real welders out here my friend just a bunch of wannabes with pretty welding rigs!!!!!! I’ve been knocking down 200,000 with no rig!!!!!!
This is very true. It’s also a matter of meeting the right person that can get you hooked up with a welder helper position. This just may take time. Be patient and surround yourself and put yourself in and around the industry. Take chances and jobs and opportunities that may lead you closer to a pipeline welder helper job. I don’t know what you do right now but I recommend getting some type of welding experience in the meantime. Have you heard about The a Ross welding inner circle? Here is a link so you can read about it. arosswelding.mn.co/
Hey Austin are you working for Local 798 pipeline union on that job I have a few buddy’s that they are in clarksburg WV doing 20.5 miles of 24” new lay
What kind of washer and dryer to you use in your travel trailer we have been looking and can’t find a dryer with a 110/120 plug I’d love that info or know what kinda plug you’re using
Technically J B is right, a Ram isn’t anymore a Dodge than a Lincoln is a Ford. They split Ram from Dodge several years ago. Dodge is cars/SUV’s, Ram is trucks and vans.
Swampy That’s a bit different, that’s two vehicles based on the same platform. There is no Dodge Ram or Chrysler Ram, so there aren’t two vehicles that are off the same platform. If you want to go that route, it’s STILL not a Dodge, it would be a Chrysler product, more specifically a Fiat Chrysler product. At the end of the day, it’s not a Dodge. It’s all semantics, but it’s not technically a Dodge, just like a Wrangler isn’t a Dodge.
You just said it yourself, “WAS”. I fully understand how it all went down, it doesn’t change the fact that TECHNICALLY it is not a Dodge anymore. I understand it’s the same truck, I understand that it is still an FCA company, but semantically and logistically they are not Dodges.
Hey buddy i love your videos. Question with your high blood pressure issue how much coffee are you or can you drink or diabetes i gorget your health issue. Thank keep on welding
Austin I’m going to college for my welding associate but I wanna stop cuz I have it in my head that I don’t need school to work on the field what should I do???
Don't quit, you are already invested and you will learn things at school you will never learn in the field. Pipeline and welding jobs aren't going anywhere. Plus if heaven forbid you have to seek employment somewhere completion of your schooling will look good for you. I have worked as a welder, not pipeline, but I can tell you there are plenty of things that I don't know about the science of welding simply from not being taught. If I had this information I very well could be an even better welder.
This isn't really a decision anyone else should make for you. I agree with Cumminsdeiselpower that having that good education and foundation will never hurt you. My biggest hang up on school is the debt. Depending on your situation and goals, I would try to keep debt low if possible. Like, Patrick Union Pipefitter mentioned an apprenticeship or starting as a welder helper is another option. There are many different ways to go but just take the realities of each and weigh them to make the best decision for you.
Its great getting your Associate degree as Is going thru a 5 year Aprenticeship. I did niether and have great respect for those that did . My path was basicaly just going to work and studying on my own in a very short time working new construction Plumbing then after many years joined Union and got into Pipefitting. To me a lot of it is about money I like all kinds of differant work but Why should I sacrafice my time for cheap. As long as Im healthy no need bustin butt for little pay I figure in my area I want to make 50 an hour and thats what these jobs pay.
