It's even neater when you see half a mile go up ,especially when the blast starts far away and comes toward you . you see the blast feel the ground vibrate and then the sound .

I used to work in a limestone quarry, and we blasted about 2x/week. Never gets old. We'd shoot 150-200 holes at a time.

The stuff in the tube is aluminum powder and is set off by a percussion cap like goes in a muzzle loader. I've drilled, loaded and shot a lot but it was with a Jackhammer, not a John Henry. And you need to go around a quarry when they shoot. We'd go through 90K tons in 2 weeks. Shot every 2 weeks or out of rock. Interesting job. I was an operator but got to help the powder monkeys sometimes.

Sitting here watching your video and saw the name of the blasting company on the side of the excavator so I decided to look them up and their headquarters is here in Tulsa Oklahoma just where I live haha just thought that was a weird coincidence

Used to build roads, always blasting and it never gets old. Spend a month or more drilling holes, then it all blows up in a second.

I have a friend that blasts everyday. Always ask him if he's been blowing off steam or the tops of mountains. He shoots in rock quarry's and strip mines. Long line blasting. It's neat to feel the ground vibrate from the shot. Good video.

This almost looks like the Midwest with the clay soil. I know we have a pipeline going in 30 miles south of where I live (NE ohio). I've seen the pipes laid out just south of where I used to live. I'd imagine it heads on east into the mountains/PA?

When I was 16 I would load 1 to 2 acres of dynamite and set it off you can plainly see a hole blow out in the video always try to avoid that put just a little more dynamite in or pack the ammonia a little tighter
anyway cool video Oh go down after a shot and look for fossils you can sale them for more than you can make welding I know that's crazy.
