You kept even against Stockfish while thinking you were playing someone your level. It really shows how the way you perceive your opponent affects your strength. I know you're probably not going to "unretire" anytime soon, but I'd like to see you play a tournament with as much confidence as you had in this game.
that's the thing with levy that Hikaru pointed out when saying levy will never be a chess GM, if he thinks he's up against an equal he actually does really well, but if he knows he's fighting a GM he sorta flounders a bit
This video is 100% relatable. I was grinding to 1800 Rapid ELO, and then I got paired with a 1950 rated cheater. The cheter played a catalan. It never occurred to me that they were cheating... the position was very tense, but I still held on and defended well. Suddenly, they just resigned with 6 minutes left, on the 24th move. I checked their profile and it turns out that they got banned in the game against me. That cheater only lost TWO GAMES, one when they were at 700 elo, and one by me. THEY LITERALLY MADE THEIR ACCOUNT 7 HOURS BEFORE THEY PLAYED AGAINST ME, grinded from 700 to 2000 elo, then got banned. 😂😂😂
the fun thing is that 700 ELO defeated cheater, and i almost sure 700 ELO was like "god this dude is good, but no one can defend an accident checkmate"
Taking pawn from your opponent I dont think is bulling, but bulling in chess is toying around with your opponent making more queens, while at any moment you could checkmate him.
For what little it is worth Levy, this is the type of content I ADORE. Specifically, focusing on what you felt and thought at the time of the game and how your reasoning worked. This is the good stuff man, just letting us see how a player of your level thinks and reacts while playing chess in a format where you can also break it down in more depth for us, especially why you thought certain things (It really doesn't even matter how well you do in the games as long as you point out ideas that may have been better or if there was some computer move in a position that would've been killer).
Incredible. I don't play chess and know almost nothing about it but I'm drawn to your content and love what I see. Grats on the feat. Must of felt proud beating a cheater!
I would say the main reason you won was because you didn’t know or suspect you were playing a cheater. With me as soon as I think I’m playing a cheater it’s all down hill mentally and I lose. Great game and video!
Once, I had a 2000 some rated pushing 6 out of their 8 pawns two squares out. They were playing black. I had no idea what to do. The almost complete lack of space really messed with me. In the end I had a Knight for four pawns, and just collapsed. The psychological and morale damage of that game was by far the highest that I ever got.
