Hi everyone! This is day one of my loc journey on my 4b medium length hair. I went to a professional who did my starter locs install with a comb coil/palm rolling method. I can't wait to watch my beginner locs hair grow and transform, and I hope you'll go on this starter loc journey with me! In this video you'll see why to get locs and see my first day with locs. Started yesterday on chest length hair, then cut my hair to your length as a mini big chop. Still got inches! Haha Mine are the same size as yours. I'm excited, and have wanted mine since March. I was a loose natural for 10+ years, and I'm ready to say goodbye to my curls. I started with two strand twist.🌹

I just got my locs done yesterday and I also had heat damage but I teased and bunched the end so I got to keep my ether

These videos got me so excited . My appt all the way in September! 😆 in between the time I’m getting braids in July for my trip then after I’ll be coloring it blonde then going in like 2 weeks after to get it locked. I’m kinda impatient but at the same time I need this time to decide on how I want them started. Atfirst I was thinkin coils but now I’m kinda leaning on the two strand side . I already do my hair in two strand anyway being natural already so idk 😂

How did it go
As your locs start to Bud and mature it'll get bigger and also make sure you're getting a retwist only using water because if you use gels and wax to do a retwist your locs will start to get build up and a lot of gunk which is not something you want in your locs
Yea this is something I’m really concerned about, so I’m definitely trying to minimize the products I put in my hair. Have you had any issues retwisting with only water?
@@AmberAriel when I had my locs I was constantly getting build up in my hair due to the product being used which caused my hair to die and eventually I had to cut off my locks and my hair all together but now I believe I'm at least five months in growing out my hair again so I could get my locs back

@@AmberAriel heyyyyy so I got comb coils and I was advised not to get them wet for four weeks 😫 the journey is bittersweet because I really want to loc my hair but the shrinkage is so short I can't wet it and it looks awkward on my big head there's no styles I can do right now. But for some reason I don't wanna give up ❤️

I want my hair exactly like this is there a way I can request the palm method or will they just do coil method
They should be able to let you know which method they use to start them out before you decide on a stylist. Also you can look at their past pictures to see what method they use most often.

Wanting to loc my hair cus I have natural THICK coily hair that I’m tired of doing. Does anyone know the different with starter locs when they comb coil and palm roll? I know it looks different but does it depend on the different texture hair that makes the loctician decide?
I think it mostly depends on what the loctician is most comfortable with. But, the palm roll technique is really good for people whose hair is looser, because it keeps it from unraveling. Definitely check in with your loctician about the options!
@@AmberAriel thanks! I have so many different textures. Loose curls, corkscrew, wavy. I read that comb coiled locs are usually for short hair. No wonder I never seen them on longer hair. I’m natural but when my hair blown out it’s mid back length. But I have A LOT of shrinkage. My hair grows big and always want to go into an Afro and I’m tired of doing it. It was either a brush cut or dreads option for me. I might just end up going with the 2 strand but I’ll definitely ask the loctician what’s best for my grade of hair. Thanks for replying 😊

Do you wash your own hair since you have locs or do let your loc technician do it
I let my stylist wash my hair when I get it retwisted. She let me know it's fine for me to wash my hair as well, but I don't like to wash my hair frequently. Hope that helps!
