My hair gives me so much anxiety. I was natural for 5 years and gained a lot of length. I have since permed my hair and now looking at starting a loc journey because I wasn’t to be natural but want to have my hair in locs to manage my hair better.
I completely feel you. I feel like my hair is a big part of who I am, and it sounds the same for you. I’m a little biased, but I think locs are such a great choice. You get to enjoy your hair without all the hassle. And If you don’t like it? You can just comb them out. 🤗
You are so right with this info I'm 7 months in with my locs and dryness is so irritating but watching video went to oil scalp...will do this few times a week I think to help....thanks for video 😊👍
Amazing video, very informative. I have been natural for over 10 years and wear a lot of wigs or crochet braids but I really want to start my journey for locs. My hair is so thin and fine that when I do two strand twist I see sooo much of my scalp .
I usually make it damp, then apply some oil. Then, I'll tie it down with a scarf and let it air dry. This helps get rid of a lot of the frizziness. After that I usually style it in a low bun with "bangs" and do my edges. Or just wear it down/whatever other style looks good. You don't want to over manipulate though or the frizzies will come back.
@@AmberAriel Thank you. I am thinking about getting locs but I am just worried about maintaining my hair so that it doesn't look bad for school or just going somewhere important. Appreciate the help💜
Question. Protecting my locs in extremely cold temps. I have a satin scarf that I wrap my hair up with before putting on my toboggan. Any additional advice? Especially on my commute to and from work
So beautiful 💕 got a sub Girl ! I need directions I have hair and it grows so fast that always been one of my problems !!! But now I just started and im 2weeks in and it ITCH !! I want to take the locs out ! But I’ll push through
It varies from person to person, so I would say wash as necessary. Holding off on washing your hair (and instead using a method to spray moisture on it) will help it loc faster, because it’s very likely the locs will come down if u wash soon. However, if you normally wash your hair once a month, that might be the best schedule for you. Before my locs I went monthsss without washing my hair. Because of this, my scalp doesn’t get itchy or hold a lot of build up. With that I decided to wait two months before washing my starter locs and it turned out really well for me. Sorry, this is a lot lol, but most recommend as early as two weeks to a month, but it all depends on your hair.
Yea this girl at work gonna tell me “I just want u to get some braids “ code for “I just want u to get your hair done “ lol you should see this girl 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😭😭
In my research it seems having locks is more expensive than having protected style …referring to if u go to shop and it’s really 😢 appreciate ur video as I think I’m going to do my own; someone wanted 500 to start I don’t pay that for braids; in fact I never paid over 200 for broads; the prices for locs are ridiculous
I’m getting Locs May 9 and I’m a little afraid myself however, I’m tried of doing my hair and I do love my Afros but I’m gonna do this… I see beautiful locs and I always want them…
My son have starter locs we started like 2 months ago and he got a good grain of hair...but it keep getting reallyfrizzy what can he cover his hair with at night to stop the frizzyness are what products can he use
You can probably oil it then put a wig cap/skull cap and then a bonnet on his head to keep the frizzies away. I would say a cap, scarf then bonnet but that could be too much for him. I wouldn’t go too much into other products because they’ll cause buildup on his scalp and in his locs.
I’m considering getting locs but I’m nervous 😩 and probably have a million questions. I’ve always been natural but I’m over it 😂
Do it! You wont regret it!

i guess I am kinda off topic but does anybody know of a good place to stream newly released movies online ?
@Kameron Ronald flixportal xD
@Juelz Van thanks, I went there and it seems like a nice service :) I appreciate it!
@Kameron Ronald you are welcome :D
I agree 100%, I started my locs earlier this year. It is definitely a journey but I am loving it

Thanks for watching💕💕
I think everyone should Love Locs.
This video is perfect. I'm 1 year in and this is all correct
I feel you on all of this!!!😂 I wish I paid $65 for a retwist, nope but it’s flourishing
Girl, this is outdated I wish I still had them prices 😭😭
Planning on getting loc’d before the end of this year 🥳.
I’ve had mine for 2 weeks now an I’m loving it

How do you style your locs if you need to go somewhere important but your hair is not freshly retwisted.

@@AmberAriel Thanks😊
Of coursee. It took me a while to figure out how to make it look “neat” in between retwists, but I think I finally got it lol.

Question.

The one dislike is from someone who doesn't know how to feel about their locs
Lol my thoughts exactly
been loc'd for two years, for those who are starting.. do not bleach your loss i beg you. Do not manipulate your loss during that phase.
Can you color your hair before locing it
@@aashepherd8585 can you?
@@AmaraNyja idk
@@aashepherd8585 tbh, i think u can! as long as u moisturize your hair after coloring it since it can maybe dry it out. u don’t wanna loc dry hair yk
@@AmaraNyja thx uu

The very first con is my BIGGESTTTT hesitation. I hate frizz 😮💨😣😣
Rightt. Def tough getting used to
When is it recommend to wash my loc for the first time when I’m a starter?

I started 4 1/2 months ago and love it
Yes best thing I did 👏🏾

How long does it take to get ur locs done ? Because im gettin sum soon .
it took about two hours

I’m starting my journey this weekend and the women is charging me $50. But a $50 deposit😩
That’s a rip off. I had mine done professionally. 174 locs for only $75
You don’t need a loctician… I’ve done everything myself with nothing but water and oil and my hair is doing fine
It seems like they were trying to get over on you I paid $120 when I started my locs 6 months ago and that's only I started with 2 strand twists
I’m in Chicago and they are charging 150+ & 200+ to start locs. It’s super expensive 😩
Great video as always 💕
Thank you!
I’ve been contemplating locs for a while- but I’m scared imma miss my Afro 🥹
I'm scared also

Can I swim with locs or should I cover it?
You definitely need to appreciate your hair without a retwist! Over retwisting will damage your locs. Get used to the natural look baabbyyy
Where u live who your loctician? I wanna pay $65 lmaoooo my retwist be out here costing $95🤣😂😫😭

She May, that is part of the locking process. The frizz is a good thing, that means the process has started to mature…
❤
Excellent video!
Umm…Let’s say it together…CROWN ACT! “They” better not!
Do you still spritz your hair with lemon juice?
I stopped a few months ago when my hair really locked up. Felt like I didn’t need it anymore 🤗
Does the lemon juice help with locking your hair faster ?? And if so , how do you prepare it ?
@@shakolayearwood5445 did you ever figure it out? there’s so many unanswered questions in this comment section😭
