"Symptoms of hysteria included anxiety, sleeplessness, breathlessness, expressing anger, being too sexually reserved, being too overtly sexual, the presence of vaginal lubrication, and a tendency to cause trouble for others." Also known as being ... y'know.... human......
Hannah, you are my personal hero. I'm a segsdevices seller and educator on this specific theme. I cannot express how much we need to break this myths around vibrators ❤
I definitely remember seeing (as a child, '60s and '70s) catalogs that included largish bullet-shaped "facial massagers". As I grew a little older, it dawned on me just what these actually were. I have no doubt that the women perusers of these catalogs knew exactly what these were for. Comstock Act be damned! Kind of comical, but nice that they were available.
My husband had an old great aunt who was visiting his grandparents the same time as we were one time and she actually had one of those things out and was rubbing her face and neck with it! That's how they were advertised! We had a hard time keeping a straight face until we got out of there 😂
@@sandrainontario6710 : 😂😂😂 Okay, I'm sure SOME women were oblivious... Oh my god, Sandra, that's hilarious and cringey in equal measures! Thanks for sharing that, uh, disturbing memory...
I appreciate your frank no nonsense approach. The sexual repression in media and education is really sad. Overall I think it just hurts the most naive and vulnerable.
The United Arab Emirates draws in millions of visitors, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi especially popular. But visitors should be aware that taking sex toys into the country or even ordering them to be delivered there is illegal. Not only can they be confiscated, the person who owns the toy can also be prosecuted.
Vietnam is a growing tourist destination. But it doesn't like tourists who bring sex toys with them. In 2011, authorities made buying sex toys or bringing them into the country illegal. And if visitors are found bringing sex toys into the country by customs, they will be confiscated.
Bureau of Customs (BOC) - Cebu said. Erwin Andaya, administrative officer IV of BOC - Cebu said that based on Republic Act 10863, or the Customs Law, adult toys are prohibited in the country.
Have to say I was reading the advert for the mini one while you were talking and while it's not like... obviously sexy, you can still 100% read it that way so I have to imagine they knew what they were doing lol
I saw Hysteria mainly because I typically love movies that include Maggie Gyllenhaal. I was really unfamiliar with the ideas and topics presented in the film a priori. Afterwards my reaction was sort of "that's interesting".
I have seen the film as I was 13 years old and I have watched it with my mom. It was a part of my sex education so to speak. I thoroughly believed it to be true 😂 until a few years ago.
I always thought that! Cant believe I was lied to for so long 😅 I'm looking at buying the tempdrop in black Friday sales, anyone tried it and have any feedback? 😊
When giving talks about scientific or quasi-scientific topics, please use correct terminology regarding the words theory and hypotheses. You used the word theory in a pedestrian way rather than a correct scientific way. You should have used the term hypothesis instead of theory. The differences are quite distinct. Using them incorrectly can form significantly wrong ideas.
Just to be more efficient, can you use the term wymyn to cover everyone who believes they are women rather than always adding, ... And those with vulvas... God it gets irritating. Same goes for myn. This remark has nothing to do with gender. It just has to do with the efficiency of language. 😊
You have a good point especially when it comes to historical terms. I am sure gender fluidity, dysmorphia, choice of transitioning or any variation of the current displays of gender and sexual expression would not have been so prevalent and a lot of texts would have just stated men or women. We shouldn't feel the need to placate all of the different terms all the time to avoid offending people. If they are happy, free and comfortable in their skin and identity they will naturally take any content on its own merit and substitute labels in their heads, as opposed to becoming keyboard warriors.
@emilylunarpumpkin thanks for your thoughtful response. I am not pushing any agenda, just trying to commit to communication that is not guided by fear of retribution, like guilt shaming. Ask people of color. They're not impressed by virtue signaling.

Pretty much 😅
Therefore orgasms can cure all these things.

9:45 I love that you did the Matt pat thing 😂
Hannah, crying with joy over your demo of a OG hand cranked vibrator: 'like an old fashioned egg beater'!!!
I'm so enjoying these deep-dive type videos, it's so clear how much effort and research is going in and I'm learning so much!!
Ancient egypt or the 1990s... that's quite a range for the beebrator.
The MatPat reference was top tier

14:57 there are some vibes sold today that are listed as massagers and you only find them in sex toy places but they look like a back massager lol
Thanks for another great educational and fun video!

Lol the "Sex Theory" got me!
I actually seen that theory on a tv show years ago.

Hannah watches Game Theory! 😄
Such an interesting video! I remember watching that film and to this day I believed it to be true haha so thank you ❤️

I was lied to!? Am I even a sex coach!?
Nearly spat my coffee out when you did the manual egg beater impression

As a man, I also use a vibrator. The name is Braun Series 3.
I use it to shave my beard electrically every day. Brrrrrrrrr

Thank you for sharing
Have you been to the sex machine museum in Prague? Sounds like it would be right up your alley
Film was fun - but loved getting the true story.
Hysteria is one of my favourite movies! Can't believe you haven't watched it! Go treat yourself!
I understood that reference 😂🤓
hehehehe
Current information [The seemingly sexually free country Thailand doesn't allow tourists to bring in sex toys as they're seen as “obscene items”].
I've seen the film and enjoyed it, although without knowing it was based only on someone's assumptions. xp
Vibrators as a cure for hysteria? Hmm. That might almost sound fun if it didn't also seem abusive and exploitive.

Had no idea about Maggie Gyllenhall in Histeria 🎥 🍿
WOW 👀👀😍😍😍😍
