Not everyone hasa crew. Many travel alone, run alone, finish alone, do it for their own reasons. And they are surrounded by the support of strangers, which is amazing. But marathons are definitely about running, and not just running that day - but the months of gruelling training and mental perseverance in all weathers that leads up to that day.
This felt so refreshing. Lately the genuine and beautiful art of storytelling has been making it's way back to UA-cam through creators like yourself, and it's just super inspirational to witness :)
Can see the Casey Neistat influence is these but of course adding your own style and making them yours. Editing and pace is great! Came across this on tik tok and was expecting this account to have a huge following on UA-cam. Genuinely shocked you dont have more views and subs with the quality of your vids. Keep up the fantastic work good sir, youre definitely on the way up. Its a like and subscribe from me anyway 👍
I ran the London marathon this year and if it wasn’t for the amazing crowds I wouldn’t have crossed the line. This video captures the human spirit and restores my faith in humanity. Congrats to everyone who completed the marathon and massive Thank you to all the supporters and amazing volunteers.❤ Great video Ali.
Great video and so true, I run for my late younger sister, she left us 3 years ago and I can truly say that running marathons saved my mental and physical health. What you forgot to mention though is the hundreds if not thousands of miles we put into training... the marathons are the reward or party to a much longer process. Awesome video!
I used to live about a mile away from the start of the London Marathon. Always saw the day as an annoyance, roads closed etc. My wife would drag me out to cheer everyone every year and I'd always come away inspired and glad I went to watch. I eventually got in to the London Marathon on the ballot a few years ago and it changed my life. Great video. I never hit the like button but I did on this one. Thanks for this.
I ran it this year for the first time and this video summed it up perfectly. The crowd was incredible, everyone who came out to support deserves a medal as well.
It was my first ever marathon in memory of my sister and you were so right and it all! The crew, the occassion and the suppoet from so many others! There is nothing like it ❤
Bingo! You've summed it up so well. Thank you for making this video - I've just relived Sunday's emotions all over again and I never want to lose that feeling.
Mate I'm 0:58 seconds in and I just have to stop and comment 😂I love your energy and editing style. It's so good. Just keep doing your thing. These videos don't get anywhere near a fraction of the views they deserve. Hope that they will in the future!
This was an incredible video. loved it so much. the human energy is insane. I am going to run my first marathon in two weeks in my hometown and i am very excited. Thanks for capturing and sharing these wonderful moments.
Discovered you through Sam Dawson! I am so glad he made a video about you, because you are a pure gem. If you could sit down with him to talk about your process, I think I would watch that video a 1000 times and force all of my friends and family to watch it (like I am going with this video right now...)
You made made me feel all emotional watching this. I really wasn’t expecting that. Fantastic story telling, camera work, pacing, sound and energy. I feel like I need to challenge myself to run a marathon after watching this.
I was lucky enough to run the London Marathon for the first time this year and this video captures it perfectly. The atmosphere is electric and I felt overwhelmed with emotion that all of those strangers stood in the rain to support for hours. What a privilege. Fantastic video 🙃
Wow, man, just came here from @SamDawson's video. I have not watched his breakdown yet because I wanted to see the full film with fresh eyes first, and I just wanted to tell you it gave me goosebumps, and I actually started tearing up at one point. Your energy and your emotions are infectious. Keep it up. I'm looking forward to watching more of what you do.
Finished my first marathon last year, and you truly captured the feeling of the whole experience. On that day there is something in the air, something that inspires you and pushes you beyond your limits. And I think you got it right. It’s the human energy! The love and support of our fellow human beings.
Wow! Just ran my first marathon last year. This video comes close to the whole experience! To be cheered on and to cheer on those next to you and behind you.
Yes, everyone is running for something or someone else. I ran the 2023 NYC marathon for my dear aunt, who signed me in to my first 10K and who is currently battling cancer, stage IV. I ran that marathon with her name on my chest and total strangers where yelling her name and cheering on her for hours. Those people carried me all the way to the finish line, and I got to engrave the medal with her name and gift it to her this last week, when I visited her, after showing her a video with all those people yelling "you got this!! let's go!!". I've become addicted to marathons after this experience and I'm going to keep running them in her honor.
Incredible 😮 you managed to tell me a story about marathon that really makes me like marathons for the first time. You shifted the way I think about it. British Casey vibes too 😂
Brilliant! Carl Jung, "When we know the why we can begin the how." This made me cry. I am doing my first Marathon, BMW Dallas Sunday 12-10-23. I was doing it for the challenge, now i'm doing it for my friend Edward who passed 3 years ago. Thank you so much. I cannot tell you how much your video had a positive effect on me. Cheers.
This video is amazing! You really capture the energy of a marathon!!! I am planning to do one in a few years and I can't wait for the emotions and energy of everyone watching and running.
I have a 20+k video. I got a feature on my cellphone early and posted a review. Took me literally an hour to shoot and edit. This deserves more. Much more. Keep going. UA-cam is a marathon, not a sprint.
Only have supported but the atmosphere is probably the best of any sporting event I have ever been to, everyone is having a great time, cheering on every single random stranger that is at any pace be it 2 hours or 10 hours for the marathon.
Ali, once again you've hit home on this :-) Thank you for everything that you make us feel and make us remember what really counts. Keep at it, even though sometimes it's hard!
@@aligallop My goal was under 4 hours but I managed to do 4 hours and 4 minutes. It was real hard after 30th km but I also got to feel that runners high 3km before the finish line and was about to cry every time I thought about crossing it. Already planning to run another one next year!
Your content just started popping up on my feed. Hopefully, the UA-cam algorithm is picking up your "non-niche" 😉 content and showing it to the world! The messaging is fantastic. Looking forward to more, Ali.
Great video! Inspiring story, the editing dictating the pacing of the video which went from frenetic and high energy to slowed down and lingering on some very emotional moments. Brilliantly done!
I visited London a couple weeks ago, and said to my partner, "gosh I wish there was someone here, documenting this city in the way Casey did in NY." And boy am I glad to have found you. How exciting.
This is incredible
Many thanks, Phily, for pointing me in the direction of this video! It's excellent
