  • I took out some guests to Breitenbush river for some trout fishing. We stopped at the first spot past this bridge but didn't get anything. So we headed back and got our limits.
    bait: Berkley Powerbait.

    What I really enjoy about your videos PK, is that you show up what you're using and how you have it rigged up. A lot of other fishing channels that I've viewed generalize what they're using (e.g. Spinner, crank, etc) and don't touch on rigging at all. Well done and keep up the good work!

    I don't think rainbow trout are supposed to hit the ground. They say that once it hits the ground it's gonna die. Your supposed to take the hook out while it's in the water.

      He kept the fish. If you are doing catch and release, then yes, keep the trout in the water or above it.

    • @johnmapes1210
      @johnmapes1210 6 років тому +3

      Lure Kings that is a myth about trout hitting the ground and dying. Trout are sensitive but in my experience having been a trout fisherman my whole life trout found in a lake are far more sensitive than trout found in a river. Trout in a river seem to be much harder your fish in general we're trout in a lake seem to die no matter what you do sometimes. Now I am not advocating for the mishandling of any animals but there are times where I have been forced or have to wind my fish on land and sometimes they have even been completely covered in mud and I have been able to revive and release the fish unharmed. The time required to do this is much greater when these things do occur but if somebody is determined you can revive a trout even after being covered in mud it may take an hour. But it is possible if you care about the animal but not all trout are caught under the perfect conditions

      +PK Yi can I catch catfish, bass ? what would you say the limits are, I've always said fish smart work the drag and you'll be suprized what you can get. let me know what you think.

    • @oregonlife
      @oregonlife  8 років тому

      working the drag is definitely helpful if your line or rod can't support the fish, especially in deep water. in deep water, you have more play and can loosen the drag to tire them out. but if I know I'm going to be catching a fish bigger than a trout or bass, I would match my gear/tackle accordingly so I have a better chance of landing him.

    • @brendensands3777
      @brendensands3777 7 років тому

      Outdoor Archives stock trout can look much more different that normal native trout for example almost all stock trout have worn down back fins and wild native trout have more large and pointy fins that is due to the stock fish being kept in small areas for most of there life, during that time there pattern can also change due to rapid spawning with other fish that live in the tanks with them, stocked fish can also carry deseases thats why i only eat native trout and just give the stock trout i catch to my friends lol.

    I also use braided line I think it's great stuff it's just that when you use it in Rocky areas and you snag it and it gets left behind it's awful stuff all the other anglers catch it and lose their gear that's why you shouldn't use it anywhere you have a chance to lose line that's all I'm saying.

    hey yo i live here on the coast in Depoe bay and have fished the coastal rivers my whole life. i have never had very good results with power bait in the river with native fish only the stalkers. is it n e different using diff. power bait cause i know the play-do style and power eggs dont work for me. thanx

    • @oregonlife
      @oregonlife  8 років тому

      For bottom fishing for stocked trout, the dough powerbait & the powereggs work extremely well for me. I've also done well with the PB mice tails. I don't fish for wild trout much, but did well trolling for them using PB honeyworms. I can't say that one is better or if there are any difference, but my luck comes from switching to different types of PB if the bite is slow - so carry a few different types in your tackle box.

    • @slipngrip
      @slipngrip 7 років тому

      @Billy Bostic Heavy? You know you've chosen a wrong word when 6lb braid is more sensitive, thinner, lighter, casts further than 4lb mono or fluoro. And you definitely need your braid to be heavier than 4lb if you were to use 4lb leader like I do. When I used fluoro I used 4lb like you but now braid is all I'll ever use for my main line. Go ahead try the braid, it's a game changer.

      I marinate in teriyaki sauce overnight, and pan fry in the morning with garlic oil. goes really well with rice.
