"Ok, Hypno-Disc... You only need to knock out one to go through..." "Understood. Wreck 'em both..." "No! Only one!" "Both of 'em, hearing ya loud and clear!"
Great sportsmanship by Raizer Blade here, I admire them for it. Putting a machine into the arena thats effectively dead vs Hypnodisc and just letting it get trashed, takes guts :P
I have to say the opposite, would've been more sensible and more sportsmanship to let Terrorbull (if functioning) to take their spot. Raizer Blade was immobilized from the start and they knew it, just pointless and not exciting at all to give Hypno-Disc a free win. Any other time such a robot have declared to exit, but nah, gotta take the chance away from an actually functioning robot.
Looking at this feel Raizer Blade only went in as there literally was no one else. Predator and V Max destroyed, Cerberus gone home and Terror Bull terrified into committing suicide.
I realized something. Had Raizer Blade actually retired their robot before the heat final due to the damage, who would have taken their place? Given what happened to "The Morgue" in Heat C, it would have meant a previous robot from the heat would have been reinstated. But who? Terror Bull burned up its components on the flame jet, V-Max was trashed, and so was Predator. The only robot who wasn't completely trashed from this heat was Cerberus. And that would have been an interesting confrontation, because they're armoured in titanium. Dave Rose even said in a Reddit AMA Quote: "Spinners don't like thick titanium." That could have been a shocking turn of events.
It could have been interesting, but I think that Hypno-Disc would have won fairly easily. I’m sure it could have hit Cerberus hard enough to disable it, or won a Judges’ Decision like it did against Wild Thing
Terror Bull didnt appear to be in terrible shape, its possible another team had some spare wiring to get them going Really should have won in the first place, given Raizer Blade only worked down one side right from the beginning

Well Hypno-disc is on good form, and more deadly than ever. It was a bit rich Philippa asking them if they ever feel guilty, considering what the house thugbots continually do.
22:59 man, that would feel bad... getting drawn against Hypnodisc in your first fight after spending all that time and money on your robot.. I guess it has to happen to someone 😅
I love how Hypnodisc just came in and wrecked everyone but V max was a top machine and so unlucky to be drawn against them. Would have dominated if it was in the earlier weaker heats.
I hope NJGW notices and approves of this point I'm about to make. I've just realised one thing with JP about Hypno-Disc prior to the battle against V-Max, he gets the twins names wrong. Do you know how I know? Both disc badges on both RW logo shirts are placed differently on the twins. The disc badge above the RW logo shirt is Derek. And the disc badge North West of the other RW logo shirt is Dave. JP should have noticed it because Dave has a slightly deeper voice than Derek does during and after the introduction and the statistics of Hypno-Disc, and there is proof of both identical hypnotising badges that I see positioned differently, for which everybody can see which I can fully understand. Before the fight, and I quote both the commentary and myself: JP: "Dave on the right, Derek on the left, Ken in the middle." I see this as: "Dave on the left, Derek on the right, Ken in the middle".
How was V-max there? I mean did they come just hoping to get in if another team can't perform? And if not they would have just been there all day as a back up?
mitchcraft Pretty much. All the team's had to participate in qualifying events that we don't see on tv. Plenty of robots don't make it onto the show. But in cases like this, it is good to have a few robots on standby that didn't quite qualify at first.
I really wish we could have seen a Razer vs Hypnodisc fight. Both of my favorite bots of all time, a fight that could easily go either way.. would be epic, guaranteed. I'd love to see them both come out of retirement for 1 fight to the death 😂
@@davidcuthbertson9685 it would have been hard to watch those 2 beautiful machines tear eachother apart, it almost makes you glad it didn't happen. Lol
The greatest fight there never was. I think it debends on whether HD could get the disc up to speed fast enough, if they can buckle the beak of razer, it's game over, but on the flip side if razer just bit the bullet and rammed right in from the start, buckling the disc, it wouldn't spin. God i wish we could see that.
@@davidcuthbertson9685 It's because both teams were still going for the UK championship that year and didn't want to sustain damage from each other, which they knew full well each team could do. They were approached by the producers, but both declined on that reason. Kind of a shame but also I'm glad that Razer didn't get completely ripped apart by Hypno-Disc considering the damage they took from even the blade of Pussycat, so imagine what the massive flywheel of Hypno-Disc could have done. Likewise, I don't think Razer could have pierced the actual disc of it, but the rear box would definitely have been easy for Razer to crush and destroy.
You make a good point in that Raizer Blade was stuck in circles early on in the battle. But it wasn't the kind of circles were it was stuck in a small circumference. It managed to swivel about over a short distance to at least try to attack, so I guess that was the bare minimum requirement. Speaking of mobilising, though, I question the wisdom of Terror-Bull driving over the flame jet at that point. Then again, either robot would've had a tough time against Hypno-Disc in the final round.
I can't describe how much I hate that Gemini won the pinball tournament. I have no problem with clusterbots in the main event , but in the pinball tournament it really is an unfair advantage.
You know what the most frustrating part is? Killerhurtz was going for the car door after the 50 points target, but lost control at that point. If they had got it they would've narrowly beaten Gemini.
@@davidfearis7335 I would argue it's fair in the main competition, because while they have a numbers advantage, each individual robot is significantly lighter and usually noticeably weaker than any of its competitors. Plus, if any one of the robots goes down, the whole team is counted out. Gemini vs Tornado for example, Tornado was able to effortlessly shove both robots around because of their weight, and utterly destroyed one of the halves against an arena wall spike because of their weaker armour. In pinball however they had a ridiculous advantage because they could go for multiple targets at once, split the attention of the house robots, and slip through smaller gaps than other robots. They were still driven excellently, which is a key part of pinball, but I am certain that had there only been one of the Gemini halves, or if a new, faster, stronger Mace III had been entered instead of Gemini, they would have not been able to top Spawn of Scutter's score.
You're right, but I guess it was an easy enough mistake to make when the point that Raizer Blade stopped was right when The Predator was pressing up against it and got its battery ripped out a moment later. Oh well - Raizer Blade was clearly the better of the two in combat anyway, since it at least got an attack in on Hypno-Disc. And as far as wrongful judges' decisions go, this is _really_ tame considering some others that have been made.
Waiting about 4 months before seeing Hypno-Disc again was a hard wait as a kid (they were in the last heat of the 4th series), but it was worth it.
