A cat will close its eyes to heighten its other senses, and when it hears and smells a potential prey item it will then know where to look for it based on the information gathered from the other senses.
Cats have a separate service processor that controls ears and analyzes sounds for danger even when the main CPU is sleeping, and sends a wake signal to the CPU if certain danger thresholds are met.
Maybe a cat's ears are wired directly to the brain like the legs of cockroaches. As soon as the antenna of a roach detects danger their brain sends a message directly to the leg muscles to start running, even before the roach knows why.
Ele lembra o gato da minha neta que quando dorme ou fica tentando dormir fica fazendo esses movimentos também, só que o gato daqui é branco com o topete grisalho e o rabo também! Rio Brasil
You can't fool me. You just wanted to experiment with multi-camera editing.

OOORRRR it was the wind blowing the hairs in his ears causing them to twitch.....................Yea I think it was just the wind.

Strangely relaxing video.
I wonder if the ears pan around like that and listen for danger even when sleeping?
I read somwhere that animals can enter a state of half-sleep in order to essentially "nap with one eye open"
A cat may sleep but it's ears and nose never sleep :)
Those ears do a lot of minuscule movement. Interesting...
I came for the earts, but I stayed for the kitty
I notice sometimes if I make any sort of sharp clicking noise at my cat that his cheeks will twitch.
Wonderfully...Love this so much...Thanks for the nice idea
