  • Went out surf fishing with Brian over the summer. We both used a hi-lo rig to catch these surfperch. We always use that rig setup because it's so effective. We kept some surfperch and cooked fish tacos.

Hey PK, coming back around to some of the old videos and ran across this new one. I know you were having some health issues and had some personal problems creep up that exacerbated issues as a whole. I hope you are doing well now and hope you are making more videos. I look to your videos to learn about PNW coastal fishing, clamming, and crabbing. I will be sending a thanks soon.

what I do is I put a pill bottle (or anything cylindrical) in the loop and cinch the line down around it. Pull out the pill bottle and you have perfect, consistent loops for both top and bottom.

I really like hearing your enthusiasm when you've got a bite. It's relatable & I'm darn near making the same sound just watching!

Those perch are straight up delicious.

Looks like it’s time to call the beauty shop for a hair color 😁
I remember my stylist from back in the day, whereby on the wall hung a sign which read, “I’m a beautician, not a magician”

No play for Mr Gray 🙁

👍🏻 Love your videos! Each time I’ve tried the Gulp Mole Crabs in the surf I catch a lot of Dungeness Crab. Apparently they like them?! Weird. 🤷🏻‍♂️

It looks like you are finding them between 2' and 3' of water?

Yup. They are close to shore.

Rebuilding an old Mitchell 302 and I got no working drag adjustment and the bail is not holding! Have torn it down several times and I cannot find the faults. Are you or anyone else familiar with this model?

Sorry, I've never dealt with that reel. Hope you find the answer.

@@oregonlife I think I did... there is a brass button that holds the bail, and the screws that secure that are unusually long and flat so the screwdrivers I have at hand are not getting it. Once I get those off, the rest of the bail assembly should come apart and I can clean the spring for the little brass pin. It has been sittin gout for several years so a good cleaning might do the trick.

Perhaps consider using barbless hooks 🪝
This makes releasing fish easy and you won’t hurt it by ripping out the mouth with a barbed hook
    Just saying. 🤷🏻‍♂️
