    Great honest review! I don't think there will ever be 1 tool that does it all. I'm surprised about the lack of Euro info.... being BOSCH. I guess that similar BOSCH tools in Europe / made in Europe lack North American info. It's a no win situation! =(

I have since purchased the mac tools mdt 10 which is made by bosch, OTC. it would be great if we could talk more about the features and what you have found to be very helpful. also if the tool is capable of testing hybrid vehicles such as toyotas.

      Make sure you get a Autel that has US based warranty and support otherwise you're screwed with a paperweight if something happens. Look at the ones on jb tools and look for us based item. Main reason I dislike Autel, they decompile legitimate software and pass it off as their own. It's been proven. It devalues American jobs as well. Yes it's cheap but ha cheap at the cost of your and other people's jobs worth it all the time at the end of the day.

    No pid data during functional test really is a downer. When you record data does it record the whole pid list like Snapon? Or just whats on the screen? When it comes to graphing data the verus or Zeus is very tough to beat. I think my Zeus graphs better than any of my other tools. Plus i like the fact you cant turn that auto ranging feature off on Snapon and put your own ranges in. Having a scanner that can't run a meter or scope the same time as the scanner running is also a big downer to me. Anyway my 2 cents worth from what i can see from your video.

    The problem with Bosch/OTC scan tools is the lack of long term support. I own a Bosch KTS? series scan tool and after 3 years of ownership, no more updates or support for it. It's a expensive paper weight these days... I wouldn't purchase any Bosch or OTC scan tool unless they guarantee support and updates for several years. Say what you will about S/O scan tools, at least they provide support and (expensive) updates for them.

      Autel don't give you the repair info and wiring diagrams. Check with your local Bosch Rep being where you're at and see if they offer it and watch for the rebate. Also some places that sell them will discount them during expo, tool / parts vendor shows locally as I live in Sioux Falls SD and got mine $600-700 below retail because of show pricing and then got the $1k US Dollars rebate so it essentially have me the next year of updates back in show pricing and rebates in the form of a prepaid visa for the rebate. Remember under warranty and you have a J-2534 programming tool if you add a laptop to it from your shop, home. Best to have a dedicated laptop for programming and a 75amp battery maintainer. Schumacher makes one you can pickup for $500-$600 as you have to have stable battery voltage while programming or you risk "Bricking" the module you're programming. Better safe than sorry.
      It was a hell of a lot cheaper than my Zeus. I know, I should've waited and kept the Modis Edge as it was paid for then had to pay for the Zeus all over again and much more money.
      Had I held off on tpms work last fall I could've saved $550 on the Autel TS-608 which I bought for tpms work and basic scanning. $200 - $250 annual update I believe.
      I added the OTC for $320 for the Bosch ADS-625 so maybe I should sell the Autel while I can get some money yet.

    I know because I bought one back in Feb. Love the wiring diagrams and repair information.
    Try unpairing and repairing the wireless module @FRM . You can use the OTC tpms tool with it as well when you pair it up as well as the battery tool by OTC. I have the tpms.
    I randomly have to close and reopen browser to get the drive info to work as I wasn't given the username and password but I've got a message out to my local parts house to get it fixed with their tool guy. Out the door after rebate I paid $3100 as they had a $1k rebate when I got it plus vendor show discount.
    And your warranty keeps extending each year as long as you upgrade. Estimated annual update is $1200.

      @wendellgreenidge3362 5 років тому

      Dale N why is the wiring diagram so buggy???

    • @dtnel
      @dtnel 5 років тому +1

      @@wendellgreenidge3362 I'm not having buggy issues. I made it about halfway on this video and had to stop as I have some things going on so I didn't finish it. Maybe that's something he covered I didn't see yet.
      I've just had browser login issues for the repair info but if I close and open the browser it fixes itself. I do need to remember to email them so they can get a fix in for it soon hopefully.
      My local auto parts house didn't give me my login info as they set it all up and even activated and submitted the rebate for me. I just had to open and start using after reading the quick start guide.
      There's even a easily accessible complete manual that you can read online with the push of a button or you can click download and save it to the device.
      I wish they allowed you to sideload apps as I have some PDF files from my Zeus I'd love to be able to sync back and forth but I'm going to try a different way but only thing is I'll have to upload and download to sync between devices regular to keep stuff matched. I also have Mitchell Pro Demand on my tablets, Zeus, smartphone, laptop and I need to set it up on the ADS-625. I'll have all of my allowed licenses used then but that's fine as Snap-On gives you 6 for your or your shops use only. I do mobile so I have to be careful as they don't like to see changing ip addresses all the time but when out and about and home I have different ones so I made sure we wrote it by hand on the contract by Mitchell by Snap-On that I'm a mobile mechanic and signed it so if anything comes up later I've covered myself. That part has to do with those who give their buddies access to their account which you'll get shutdown and still have to pay.
      I'll give them the Mac Address of each device if they squak about logins from different devices as I use free networks if possible if on way to a place and have to look something up to save my data.
      Anyways I like the fast boot time of the ADS 625, cheaper annual updates and you don't have to pay for the Bosch repair information monthly as it's included in the annual subscription update.

    Hey Flat Rate Master. I currently work at Sams Club in their tire shop while I’m going to college. Sams Club has a policy of applying anti seize to all wheel studs when servicing a car. • @BobbyCulpepper.srv3fender
      @BobbyCulpepper.srv3fender 5 років тому +5

      when i started at walmart 20 years ago they had the same policy, the reason its not a good idea it will lead to over torquing, however if you dont over due it and just put a little bit, enough to last till the next rotation, it wont be that bad and will be much better then siezed lugs, most of the torque is locked in where the lugnut base touches the rim, thats why with headbolts on an engine they torque it to a ft lb and then and addition turn of so many degrees. thats also why honda crankshaft bolts require so much torque to get them loose is because the large flat washer is the large surface area keeping it from turning. But anyway, just make sure if your using a high powered impact wrench, use a torque stick and turn down the power if necessary, then use a torque wrench with enough weight on the vehicle to keep the tire from spinning

    i'll stick with my verus, any scan tool thats not designed by a auto mechanic tool company is gonna have design issues. OTC made a great scan tool until bosch took over the design. Autel is cool but its still not quite keeping the mechanic in mind with their design, maybe lube techs. who wants to scroll through 10 pages of data every time just to find 4 to 8 pids, snap-on keeps them organized by situation. watching this video i can see bosch still hasnt figured out how to display data, and its been what 10 years since they came out with their tablet scan tools?

    Anything can replace a Snap On. They are not that great. Windows based, not very reliable, expensive to update. Android and OBDll were made for each other. Launch, Autel, and Bosch scanners are the way to go for a do all. Nothing can replace OE stuff, but unless you specialize it's not an option.
