I lived in Iowa, it had been super hot for over two weeks, not a drop of rain. I had worked 16 hours a day, every day, answering AC Calls. It was about One PM, Pager constantly went off, to call shop immediately. Told me to button up and get off the roof, go straight home, and asked if I could put their van in my garage. All radio stations, were warning of a storm and multiple tornadoes. It was like midnight when I got home. Just got the van and myself in, when it hit. I swear, if I’d been outside, I would have drowned, from the amount of rain coming down. House sewer vent got struck by lightning. Blew the sink Baskets and the Shower Drain cover off. Week later had to have a sewer pipe joint Re-leaded. Yard and Garage flooded, but no real damage was done.
Longer version coming. How've, the blackness is 9-10 more minutes of complete blackness. But next video will show it lightening up and the hurricane fierce wind, rain, and damage as it occurred. .....very intense
I have a serious question for native SD people I really don't know. If the weather is always so deadly, why there are still people live in SD? Do they have a sophisticated plan for this weather, like concrete structured buildings, shelters?
Great I was waiting for an extended version. You have the most amazing and scary weather videos I have ever seen. That total darkness was really something
I have been through Brookings a lot. I know exactly where in Brookings you are filming from. This is terrifying, and you handled like a pro. Good on ya!
Its so scary when it whent from 5:24pm to 12am in the night Also was it raining? And we got a dercho 10 days after or 5/22/22 at 1:30pm AND IT WAS ALSO SCARY!!!
Crazy! That's like locking you in a pitch black room with the boogie man (tornado) and not knowing if he'll catch you or not! Glad you made it home safe! BTW where's the Part 4 you mention at the end of the video? Checked your channel but didn't see videos posted after this one.
Something like this is what a geologist teacher said it would happen for many nights and days if the yellowstone volcano erupts. Because the ash would cover the atmosphere, block the sun and create a volcanic winter
I watched Pt2 first, this is largely a repeat. No links to Pt1, no links to any parts after Pt2. If you wanna be a storm chaser. gonna have to do better than this, but hey, was 2 yrs ago, guess you gave it up.
Holy cow! That is incredibly insane pitch black sky, undesirable. Wow!

3:00 Grandma: "f1ck this, I'm getting outta here"
I really appreciate the nararation - it gives it more impact for me. I live in California and it doesn't even rain here. Stay safe.
OMG this was so surreal like a science fiction movie. Like the Fog or something. I kept thinking weird creatures would start hitting your windshield.
Oh my goodness, that is so scary looking. I would be down in a basement by now. I don't understand, is that dirt that has caused the darkness?
damn what a nice catch!! very eerie seeing the wind carry dirt and dust but not hearing the whooshing from the wind itself
Wish these were longer.. Scary for you but great for us to watch. Glad u were ok.

phenomenal and good to see so know what to watch for
Something wicked this way comes 😳
I remember that movie when it came out in the eighties.
When Nature lets us know just who is really in charge.
That is a big old cloud of NOPE right there! My butt would be in the store at least. I’m scared of regular thunderstorms 😅
Great I was waiting for an extended version. You have the most amazing and scary weather videos I have ever seen. That total darkness was really something
The scary thing about this storm was how fast it was moving and the damage too
Accidently find this and i give you Hats Off Sir for this effort Just pure nature sound
Haboob(dust/sandstorm) with enhanced danger of Derecho straight line winds over 100 mph winds will rearrange things pretty well.
Wow! Now THAT's scary.
Insane how it just goes from day to dark in a matter of seconds around 4:37.
This is insane!
That to me may be even scarier than a tornado

Hey @Jack Sloan my I use this in my video of all bad storms and cloud types? Ty
That's insane that it went night black out there.
It got nighter than night.
Civil defense and NOAA definitely extremely slow to respond.

See my other videos of this phenomenon.
wow that got so dark
Is there really that many people and cars in S Dakota???? I thought 15-20 max in such a desolate place

They are posted. Search 'derecho' and my name.

Subhanallah is this for real? If sure it will be an honor to witness it I love dark skies before the rain
Last thing I would have been doing there is sitting like a duck out in open.
What kind of Stephen King horror is this? I'm really hoping these are rare and not the norm in SD!!!
Do we have to wait for part 4? 😔
Should be out by Monday, Memorial Day.
@@jacksloan911 very excited! Was caught in one out here in PA, very dangerous! Glad y’all are safe!
سترى الأسوء حتى تتوب إلى الله ولاكن انتضر قليلا ولاتستعجل
@@jacksloan911 It's 7 Jun and I don't see Part 4 in your videos yet.
@@trueservant1God posted it yesterday
Damn, it went pitch black quick!
You say at the end to watch part 4...there is no part 4. Ugh.
Part 4 is almost completed being edited.
Did you find part 4? I still have 1 more to post of this storm.
Where's Part 4?
Did you find part 4?
I experienced red air while on deployment in iraq. This looks a million times worse.
Unless you're Reed Trimmer I don't want to here it blocked
Did you find part 4?

Changed Hardie and lost most of the original video footage until a couple weeks ago. Now got to find time to edit.
