I think the older we get the more we understand to be kind to ourselves. It’s such an important part of growing as a person. Loved seeing the puppies! 💜🧵
You are so so right about that. I wish we would learn it at a young age, but that's how we get wiser I guess. 😄🥰
The hardest part is just starting. This can apply to anything. When I have something I know needs to get done, I mentally schedule a day in my head and on my calendar. I say mentally too because that's critical to getting started. I let my phone go to voicemail and I usually play my favorite music and ignore anything that isn't critical and focus on the task at hand
Trudy those are all wonderful tips, thank you for sharing. Putting in on the calendar is a great idea.
This video is too on point for words! Almost painful! I cleaned in my studio last weekend and made gigantic progress. Everything is now off the floor-making the room immeasurably SAFER for me! As much as I love my cats, I’m glad there are no longer “studio cats.” It will be so much easier to keep stuff clean once I achieve “perfection.” Saturday I had THREE lawn-size trash bags full. Get rid of the trash first is the best advice!! Good video, thank you!!!
You are too sweet!!! Way to go, you are an inspiration!
Hey! that fabric in the trash bag is super cute! I know, I'm not helping...nice, helpful video. I just cleaned my room and I found $800 cash - 8 crisp $100 bills in a long-forgotten money bag! and a long-lost journal from 1998! I do work well in chaos but having everything back in its designated home is a great feeling!
LOL Oh my goodness I love you. I need to clean again and see if I find money. haha
Watching this video for the second time. This time I’m committed to actually start to declutter. Thanks for the motivation to follow through . Off to start throwing away trash! Thank you for your videos!
My pleasure, we will get this done together.
Thanks for the motivation. I can't wait to see your lovely sewing room all organized and shiny!😃Love ya girl🥰
Me too!! I can hardly wait for the finished look. 😃
I NEED to get my creative space together too! Thanks for the inspiration. Gotta love the little treasures we find lol
Finding those little surprises is a little gift for cleaning maybe. 🥰
Thanks so much for recommending the clutterbug. It seems I am a bee. Good for you. You accomplished a lot and made quite a dent. And you are NOT lazy. You are a busy, creative person.
Paula, you are the best!!! The clutterbug is so helpful, and I'm learning alot so it is worth it.
Your dogs are so cute
Awe thank you! They are our babies. 🥰
I know that feeling. I moved two years ago. My other apt was smaller so everything was crowded in. My bedroom here is my sewing studio with my hi rise bed in it on one wall. I guess I will use that wall above my bed to hang small quilts. And my daughters art work.
I need to paint (soft lime green) and take up the old rug and put down blue vinyl 16:17 tiles. Get an area rug maybe. I have so many plastic tubs with fabrics etc. I purchased metal 5 shelf units to put things on and some metal bins for fabrics. Anyway you get the idea. I have a big job ahead of me. I do not create due to things being all over and bags etc on the floor in front of the 5 metal shelf units. It severely needs to be organized. I recently bought the primer and paint and have the flooring tiles for some time, so I have no reason not to do these tasks. I am 73 years old and do have pains every day so it will take me longer. But, I know I will feel better as I do it (finding things I forgot I had) and organizing all. Thanks for your video, I will think of you while I do this.
Thank you so much for sharing, it sounds like you have some great treasures in your room. Although cleaning is work, it can also be fun and bring back memories when we see things. I know you will get it done, and it will be so beautiful just the way you want it. 😍
You are PURE AWESOMENESS! 🎉 I love your channel! ❤
You have made my entire day!!! Thank you so much! 🤩🤗
Girl, I am right there with you! Too overwhelmed to start, thanks for the starting point 😃
Just tackle a little spot each day, I think that makes it more doable.
Love Cas❤
Love your honesty and encouragement! Took the quiz and I'm a ladybug - so true!! Thanks for the tip about her site, I'm looking forward to learning more about how I can organize in a way that fits me. Crickets and Ladybugs - how fun!
Isn't it a fun way to learn and see how we clean/organize. I've learned so much.
@@ISeeStarsQuilting Absolutely!! And the description of the Ladybug was exactly how I like my space - so telling and helpful. Thanks for the link - I love it! Can't wait to see your space when you're all done!
That's exactly how I have been cleaning and it works! I will go back and organize when I'm finished gutting and cleaning.
Thank you for sharing. It is so helpful to know I am not alone!
great progress! my sew room is 10 ft by 10ft. if I put a cup of tea in there its immediately a wreck!
Oh no Teresa, :) I'm sure it is not that bad. I'm so happy you have a room for what you love. 😍
It looks so much better. Well done 😊
Thank you so very much!
❤❤❤
Thank you for your support Bella!
Good job 👍 peekaboo ❤
Thanks so much Martin!
I cleaned and rearranged my sewing room.I was hoping to arrange it so that my cutting table and sewing table could be in an "L" shape. Well that worked until I realized that with the slant in our floor that every time I went to sit at my sewing table, my chair would slide down hill on its casters. So back to the old way of having it until the floors get levelled out. But on a secondary note, I ordered some containers and now have a home for all my small bits and pieces, and tomorrow I'm picking up containers for my fabric that has been sorted and folded..good luck with your clean up!
Oh goodness.....that could be dangerous. Glad you have it figured out, and how great you have places for all your beautiful material. It sounds like you are hard at work in your room.
I am the opposite, totally a butterfly. I need things to be out and seen and easy. Although first I really need to follow Dana K white and just get stuff out.
I totally understand that Vicki, seeing things is helpful as well. I guess we all have our ways where we work the best.
I love you’re videos and now this cleaning tip. Thanks. Have a wonderful night. Joy.
I'm so thankful for all of your support. I am glad we can all help each other.
I'm excited to use some of your ideas when I get to have my sewing/quilting space. Thank you!
You are so welcome, and I would love to see pictures!
Well done ⭐
It feels so great to have it done. 😄
Great job girl! Keep up the good work!❤
Thank you so much Lori! 😍
Great job.
Thanks so much. With everyone's support it has been so much easier.
Loved your video today. You are the first person I’ve listened to this year who didn’t give me an unattainable organization/declutter assignment. Your let’s just get the trash out suggestion felt freeing. I don’t have trash that will go out in a trash bag, but I do have piles of stuff that are preventing me from focusing any one particular topic like magazines or notions. I’m going to use your suggestion to just move things to the area where they belong and focus on better organization of the areas later. Thanks. Oh, and I checked out Clutterbug and found out that I’m a bee. I listened to her organizing suggestions video for bees, and her suggestions are what I TRY to do. Now I need to actually do them.
That is so so wonderful Carol, and we all have something that speaks to us. I'm so thankful for your support and am here to help. Any tips you have for me as well please pass along, I am all ears. 😃
Had never heard of Clutterbug so will check her site out. One of my habits is that I dump things out of their bags as soon as I enter the house. Everything goes to their respective rooms in the house. Nothing goes into my craft room unless it is purchased specifically to use in that room. Nothing stays in bags unless it's clear and I can resuse it to put fabric in it. I have a small room so I can't put everything away. When you're working on projects, some things just have to stay out. Look forward to your next video on your organization.
Great insight Christine, I love how you put it all away as soon as your home. You sound very organized, and love any tips that you share! 😃🥰
OMG! So glad you found Cas! I’m a butterfly but share my room with a bee.. so easy to organize now!
That sounds like a perfect world Kathryne!!! 😍
Loved this video. You are so cute.
Awe....you are the best.
Good job Christen!! Its a step. Everything is a step hun! Im a cricket as well. I blame my mother because she hoarded everything! There was never counter space to work on, and my brother and I would never make a pizza because we had to take her pots and pans and roaster out of the oven to bake it!! I love how you are opening up to us and being honest. Its refreshing and makes you more real ❤️❤️ you are so creative and beautiful i hope you get your sew-jo back soon!!
Awe your the sweetest Marie! It is slowly coming back and I can see the light. 😍
All Great things take time right?!
Love the way you get "real" with us. It's a true fact that our sewing rooms get a bit unorganized and it's good to hear that you are truly one of us. 😘😘 You made great strides in this video and it was sweet to see your hubby and the puppy came to check on you to be sure you weren't buried somewhere under your fabric. You go girl!!!! Oh, and by the way......the dog beds.....MUST STAY!!!
LOL, thankful they care how I am doing in my sew room. 😁 My pups must stay....I agree!
Thank you sooo much for introducing Cas with Clutterbug. Looks like I am a "Bee" lol maybe between you and her I will finally get my act together and get organized! 😊
We are in this together Sky!!! 🤗
Great video! My craft/sewing room is not too large, so can get messy quickly. But, it does clean up faster, too.😁 I am at the stage of organizing now, and enjoying the process. Hoping you will include some organizational tips, as well.
Thank you for your kind words, and yes I will work on tips as well. I'm always learning as I go!
Great start!! I wish I had the strength to just put things in the closet unorganized, to get them out of sight😫🤣🤣🤣 I’ll let things stay where they are until they’re organized and folded neatly 😂😂😂
😄We all have what works best for us, and your way is just FINE!!!!! Don't you worry Helen! 🤩
Hi cricket, I am a bee, perfectionist with visual abundance. But my weakness is that I hang on to things too long that might be useful at a later date. I love Cas as well, along with the Minimal Mom. They inspire me. Keep up the cleaning process and you will be so much happier. Like Cas says though “you can’t organize clutter”, decluttering first is always the key.
I agree. I’m a bee and I hang on to things. I’m not a prolific quilter, so I might only use something every 5 years. I will keep “hanging on” because I have had many experiences where I got rid of something and then needed it soon after. I also hang on to sentimental items from my grandparents and parents because I’d rather touch my memories than look at photos of them.
Yes Pamela, so so true and thanks for the reminder. I will get it done!
Love your videos and all your helpful encouragement as we all try and get organized!
By chance are you going to the Houston Quilt Guild show at the Stanford center this Friday/Saturday?
I had no idea it was even happening! I'm glad I saw this. I would love to go. I think Friday morning is my best shot at going. Email me if you'll be there? christen@iseestarsquilting.com I'll send you my phone number. I'd love to meet up and say hi if we can 🤩
@@ISeeStarsQuilting I am going on Friday too with no time restraints so hoping it’s an all day thing for me just to be around fellow quilters. I would love to meet up with you if you go. 🥰
I am working on cleaning my mess. I have it halfway done.
Amazing job Teresa! A little each day I say.
Where did you get that very cool diffuser??? I love the large opening!!!!!
It is from YoungLiving 😘 Yes, It is the coolest thing ever and I immediately fell in love with it when I saw it too!
I care for my grandchildren during the day (5 year old and 9 month old) and I have their toys in the area. They play while I sew. It makes quite a mess. We clean up at the end of the day, but the messier it gets during the day, the more anxious I feel. I think I need to limit the number of toys they have downstairs.
I am a bee.
That is so sweet of you Cathy, what a precious time you all must have. Setting a limit on toys is a great idea, I am sure that would work just fine.
Are you still doing the Hamilton quilt retreat? I went on your website to sign up and the link is gone
It is already booked up, but I do have a waiting list if you would like to be put on that?
@@ISeeStarsQuilting yes please. What do I have to do to get on the waiting list?
My biggest problem is not putting things back where it goes as I create.
I go from project to project not cleaning as I go.
Jane, I think many of us do that. We get so into our projects, its' not a bad thing. I'm trying to put into practice cleaning up a bit each day especially if I have several projects just so I can create in a better space.
Me too I am putting a good effort into no play until things are put away.
It is hard to stay on top of other wise. 😊
You made a big dent in the room darling. Lookin great!
Debbie, it is a start and feels so good. 🤩
My problem is. As I clean. The things I find spark a new project to do and I’m off on that and cleaning goes out the window
LOL I can totally relate....my squirrel brain.
I was told in a mindfulness class it is “Monkey” mind. Ha ha
