Viktor Drago is the highlight of this story for me. Even without many lines, you can tell how much Viktor loves his father. During the weigh-in, right after the shove, the first thing Viktor does is look to his father to see if his dad is okay. The look he gave Rocky in the restaurant? To me, that look said: I do not care who you are. Touch my father, and I will hurt you. When the Russian officials gifted him the trunks, the first thing he does is look to his father as if to ask: Is this okay? Do you want me to have these? Shall I show them? At the end, Viktor lost the heart to fight because he saw his mother walk out again, regressing to the first time she left when Viktor was only a child. Even crying because he thought he let his father down. All he wanted was for his parents to love him and for his father to be proud of him. Each in their own way, both Adonis Creed and Viktor Drago are echoes of Rocky for a new generation.
I agree, absolutely loved the way they told the story of the Dragos, I got choked up when viktor was crying and his father finally told him don’t worry ITS OK….. powerful moment
He even showed up at the dinner on his tracksuit just to spite them for running his father out. Viktor also doesnt seem to want his mother back but he thought winning her back would make his dad happy, and watching her leave made Viktor think that making his father happy is impossible now.
There's a deleted scene in which, after the fight in the locker room, Adonis and Viktor have a moment. Basically acknowledging that they both gotta let go of the past in order to become who they are meant to be. I loved it. I wish they would've kept it in. Overall, I still loved the movie.
Yup. MBJ said that deleted scene is what truly sets up their friendship in Creed III. That's what he was going off of for their scenes in part 3. He wished that the deleted scene had stayed in Creed II.
It all started with a joke after the success of the first film. "So what's next, is Adonis gonna fight the son of Ivan Drago?" Seriously. This was what people were saying at the time. So Stallone (one of the producers and writers) decided that the sequel would show us just that. We as the fans just ate it up. It was a joke that became gold and it actually worked. Defining performances by all of the cast and Dolph Lundgren as Drago at his most dramatic. The surprises and gut punches (literally and figuratively) of this sequel are incredible.
Really enjoyed your reactions to this series. This is many peoples favorite franchise, mine included. Stallone is so underrated as an actor but the way in which he steals our hearts not only with his performance but with his writing is seriously just as inspirational as Rocky's journey.
I love the ending for all the characters. i find the dragos story arc especially compelling. i think when ivan throws the towel in its because he's realized that his son means more to him than all the other bullshit. he sees that his son is just going to keep getting up because his mom only places value in him if he's winning and that viktor equates winning with gaining the love and respect of ivan so he will fight even if it is to his own demise. when he tells him "it's ok" and holds him as he cries its the first step in their healing all those wounds that have prevented them from having a real relationship. then as opposed to earlier when its just ivan telling viktor "when i say run faster you run faster" you see them running together as viktor looks over at his dad and smiles. just such a beautiful movie. my favorite franchise and i have enjoyed your reactions to these movies probably more than any of the other reactions to them that i've seen. much love to you from new mexico 🫶💚🌵
Drago was disqualified so that's a loss. It's normal protocol for any fighter to challenge a disqualification with the residing boxing council. Some times it's to preserve their ranking and at times their purse is held up until the council reviews everything... You should pull up the extended scenes when Adonis talks to Victor after the fight.
loved rewatching these movies with you the rocky franchise will always be in my top 5 so its great to see someone love the movies as much as i do. cant wait to see what comes next
There is a deleted scene that occurs at the ending which shows a possible bridging between the Creed and Drago families that really should have been in the movie. Well worth checking out
I had a great time watching you react to the Rocky/Creed series. So many things to take away as a whole. I think the franchise can be summed up as "Never Give Up, 1 step, 1punch, 1 Rd at a time". Also the way Donnie trained to take those punches while Viktor trained to throw them was awesome. Well done Omni.
I really hope Creed 3 keep the energy and feeling of IP. I know Stallone wanted it to end here, but if they maintain the vibe, I see nothing wrong with these stories. Besides, what other main stream IP can honestly say it's had 8 movies and only one of them was questionable quality and story wise?
I appreciate you wanting to react to Creed III. I think that's a great idea. It's easy to just go watch it of course, but it's commendable that you want to try to wait 😎l🙏
I genuinely cry everytime I watch this movie. I grew up watching the rocky movies and now creed movies and I'm a huge fan of the franchise. When Rocky tells his grandson "you look just like his mother". I turn into a blubbering mess lol. Creed 2 is a movie I wanted for so long cause I always wondered what happened to Drago after Rocky 4 and I always thought this would be a cool concept for a movie and it was! Creed 2 is not just one of my favorite movies in the franchise its one of my favorite movies of all time!
For me creed 2 was a better film from 1and rocky 4 is my favorite out of the rocky films probably why i like creed 2 it had the better story and for me fight scenes
Ivan's Drago wife Brigitte Nielsen in Rocky IV was engaged to Sylvester Stallone during the filming and they got married after. Sylvester's next film, Cobra, featured the two of them together.
It's been a pleasure watching your journey through the Rocky franchise. Looking forward to Creed III. Ranking these are tough. For me, I would go: 1. Rocky 2 Rocky Balboa 3. Creed 4 Rocky II 5. Creed II 6. Rocky III 7. Rocky IV 8. Rocky V
Loved your Rocky/Creed Journey I'd love you too continue with it by watching "Slyvester Stallone's Rocky 4: Rocky Vs Drago The Ultimate Directors Cut" (Yes that's the name of the film lol) Sly put it together during Lockdown and it came out in 2021. There is no more Robot 🤖 and the tone is more serious, I hope you check it out as I'm not ready to see these characters go just yet
I might be in the minority, but I actually liked Buddy Marcelles character in this film. He wasnt evil or a corrupt POS like George Washington Duke from Rocky 5,he just wanted to have the legacy of being the guy who created the modern day equivalent to the "Rumble in the Jungle" which is maybe still the most influential boxing match of all time.
You may make it to your feet before the 10 count but you have to show the ref you're not out on your feet, that you can defend yourself. That is why any boxing match you see the ref grab the guys' gloves when they do get up and kind of shake them to see if the guy has some sort of control of his limbs. Many people on instinct can get up before a 10 count but will not be "all there" mentally.
Great reaction & commentary! I've enjoyed your reaction to every movie in the Rocky series as it's by far my favorite movie series. When I was 7 years old I saw a Rocky 2 on television, later that same year Rocky 4 came out in my dad took me and my best friend to the movies to see it. I remember you saying that you wish you grew up watching the Rocky movies. I did grow up watching the Rocky movies and absolutely love them, and I was greatly influenced by the Rocky movies . At some point Rocky fell off my radar a little bit. But in 2015 I took my godson to see Creed both of us love the movie. All the Easter eggs from the Creed took me back to the original Rocky movies and I was able to analyze the movies as an adult instead of the kid. The Creed movies reinvigorated my love for the entire series . A relationship that I have with my godson reminds me a little bit about the relationship that Rocky has with the Adonis. Creed had a theme of finding family in unexpected places. Creed 2 had a theme of issues or baggage between father and son's and the resolution of these issues. Every movie in the series has a relatively simple plot but with complex themes. Every movie is about hard and struggle and that's why I as a series it is my favorite movie series. And I look at each movie as part of a large story at this point. Now that you seen Creed 2, I think you should consider watching the Director's Cut of Rocky IV which was designed to be a bookend to Creed 2. I would love to see your reaction to the director's cut and then to Creed 3. Thanks again for the reaction I look forward to seeing more of your movie. Huh? I haven't done a reaction for any trailers for this series. The whole reason I started them was because I saw the trailer for Creed 3 when I went to see Avatar 2 at the theater and was like, holy shit that looks good....I guess I'll finally watch these movies
