Ryan Reynolds always plays the same character, the happy go lucky generic action man, because it’s easy to promote his whiskey brand afterwards
He’s the comedian with the whiskey, he’s not even an actor anymore, his movies are in function of his products

Blake tried to do the same but with the horrific decision of doing it with a movie about DV

He HAD to hire a PR manager especially when “sources” leaked that she felt she was fat shamed and the kissing too long thing. Those allegations in itself could have been really bad for him. Turned out he asked the trainers her weight. He never asked her. He has a history of back problems so asking about her weight and training for it is absolutely valid. As for the kissing scene, there was a video that turns out she was directing that scene and telling him how she wanted that scene done. This whole thing is just messy. Honestly Blake was the wrong person to cast as Lily. They didn’t need Blake and by extension Ryan to make money on this movie booktok/gram/twit would have all come out for it.

Just because the women all “sided” with Blake doesn’t say anything about Justin. Blake has more power and influence in Hollywood. The biggest issue was at the time the alleged re-writes happened, the writers strike was occurring. No rewrites were supposed to be happening at all, the only reason films were supposed to be progressing is if they already had an established script they were sticking to. RR going behind people’s backs and overriding the writers work was not only rude, but also violating the strike terms, thus the (substantiated) claims of them being scabs

But she didn't account with the fact that Justin truly is only out here trying to raise awareness about stuff like CF, he met Claire and then made a whole fucking movie about CF in her honor. He, to this day, talks about her and how she changed his life (five feet apart). Then he goes on to write and start a podcast about toxic masculinity and tries to help men with that shit because it not only hurts people around them but themselves (man enough) and then he decided to adapt this book becasue he wanted to help women get out of toxic relationships and show men that behavior like that isnt okay. Like sorry, blake, you may be married to Deadpool, but this man has done so much self work and dovocacy for you to paint him as something he is not. Blake tries to be like Scarlett johansson and Taylor swift but she can never be them, no matter how much of a nepo baby she is (and has siblings that are actors but better reputations than her). I can't forgive Scarlett for playing an asian character in yellowface and stealing roles from asian women, but I can acknowledge that she is a well-known actress with a lot of fans. Taylor swift has her own problems as well, but she is at least business-savvy, talented in her musical craft, and has huge young female, queer, and progressive fanbases to keep her in check. Blake has none of that. All Blake has is her family connection (that most people don't even know about lol) and ryan reynolds.Reynolds. I know Taylor and Blake supposedly "friends", but honestly, seems like Blake is using Taylor since Blake was nowhere when Taylor was getting defamed by kanye and Kim kardashian.

As someone who has back issues(permanent disability but gratefully, highly functioning), if I am an actor and my job in a scene is to carry a person, I want to how much they weigh so I may prepare and train appropriately for the scene, or, decipher if it is too risky. Asking for the weight of someone that I am supposed to carry in my role for an extended period is not “fat shaming”. I would ask the weight of man, woman or heavy object etc that I was expected to carry. People without lifelong back injuries do not understand this, or would never have to even consider the question (how self absorbed people are these days, jumping on defence and assuming everything is a personal attack). Obviously, I assume, and I HOPE, there was tact and explanation when enquiring about the weight of the female actor. That would be the only right way to enquire about this of course. How blessed those without injuries go about living their lives with no consideration for any physical activity they have to accomplish.

I agree that we all need to wake up and stop idolizing regular humans, any other human regardless of what they do for a living or how good they are at being human. However, they are getting paid in relation with the revenue they bring to the movie industry. If you entertain millions of people, that is worth something equivalent to the enjoyment and the amount of people who enjoy watching. That’s why they get paid millions of dollars for what they do. That’s why you see social media “starts” making a lot of money. Perhaps it will change someday, but that is the incentive of being in show business.

He was the director! The fact that Blake created so much conflict that it changed the creative control, the vision, the movie posters, even the writing of different scenes! Just shows what a controlling, entitled nightmare she must have been to attempt to work with and have just "act" a role in this film.
I cant imagine the disappointed to have this passion project just turned into a nightmare by one overbearing crappy actress, I hope Justin has another opportunity that allows him to freely execute his vision and projects in the future, hes very talented.

      @TheHalloween_Jack Місяць тому +4

Yeah. What she decided is crazy when you look at DV statistics and alcohol statistics. Like, how ignorant and awful of a human do you have to be, to ignore the huge DV point of the film you're promoting, and then ALSO promote alcohol.
Here's a couple excerpts of studies I read:
      The 1st:
"Research indicates that approximately 62% of assaults are linked to alcohol consumption. Alcohol can impair judgment, reduce inhibitions, and increase aggression, which can contribute to violent behaviors."
      And the 2nd:
"13% of adult men had an alcohol use disorder compared with 9% of adult women."
So, whether it's a man or woman- roughly 1 in 10 people are an alcoholic. And assuming the audience are as tone-deaf and oblivious and Blake, 10% of the audience would be enticed to drink. And of that 10%, 62% would assault their partners. Which, as the lead actress of a film, where her character is a DV victim, suffering and escaping from a DV situation.. you'd think she wouldn't.
And yeah, this might sound like a lot of overthinking. But I guarantee that if you asked your friends whether they thought more alcoholics or sober people assaulted their partners, they'd say "alcoholics". It's just common sense. If someone's intoxicated, they'd have less restraint.
*Why she thought that encouraging people to be intoxicated, in the same setting as "encouraging" people to flee intoxicated assailants is a fucking conundrum.*
(I say "encourage" in quotes because she really isn't encourage DV awareness and supporting victims.)

Right? I feel like all this drama just brought more attention to the movie 🥴 I think it would've been better if people just dismissed the movie after the initial criticism and started promoting other books and movies about dv that are actually impactful. I saw this amazing italian movie about da/dv a few weeks ago called There's Still Tomorrow and it would be neat if people started discovering films like that instead of just latching onto this (in the grand scheme of things pretty insignificant) drama between hollywood people.

I've always hated hated and Ryan since their early days. Ryan is in the same level as The Rock. When you pay to see his films, you pay to see a product instead of a passionate actor. And Blake always had drama around being a bully since her gossip girl days.

I went on a plantation tour in Louisiana (the Whitney was one of them) and it was such an emotional experience for me. After the tour, one YT woman actually complained that the tour talked too much about the slaves! I was shook.
Edit to add I'm a fan of both Blake and Ryan but she has come out of this whole thing looking sus.

i will say, if the “fatshaming” incident happened as reported and we’re not missing anything… blake, girl, that isn’t fatshaming 😭 the way it’s described (and again, acknowledging that there could be more that isn’t reported) is the most innocuous exchange i could think of.
asking the set trainer if you’re safe and in shape to lift a particular weight is completely normal even if he didn’t have a history of back problems, not only for his own safety but for blake’s as well. and how is he supposed to know if he’s good to go for her weight if he doesn’t know what that weight is? he didn’t even ask her directly, which could be considered rude, he asked the set trainer in the context of the set trainer doing their fucking job.
i understand and sympathize with the fact that blake could just be uncomfortable with *any* discussion of her weight, regardless of the context, but that doesn’t make it fatshaming.

Getting married on a plantation is so absolutely insane, yes it's a beautiful building and piece of property but how on earth do you know even a crumb of history of the property and want to bring your whole family there to celebrate your marriage? insane.
