I just read Winter Solstice and loved it. I hope to reread this book every December. Shell Seekers by Rosamunde Pilcher is another favorite of hers. The Enchanted April has been on my TBR, thanks for reminding me to read it.
This is a great series! And yes please for cozy reads! You described Winter Solstice so well! I also enjoyed Coming Home and The Shell Seekers by Rosamunde Pilcher. Cozy mysteries for me are the No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency, the Maisie Dobbs series and Agatha Christie’s Poirot and Miss Marple books 😊📚
I plan to read "The Lady Vanishes" the next time I'm drawn to the genre. All of the others are among my favorite "rereads"! I have enjoyed them each time I've read them.
I have read enchanted April and the movie is one of my all-time favourites that I watch frequently. They are different - for me it is one of the rare cases where the movie supersedes the book. I enjoyed the book but I absolutely adore the movie! Bear in mind I saw the movie first… And came to love it first. I think that makes a difference. I’m like you with movies though - so I wouldn’t blame you if you did not like the movie. I thought the script writer added some nice things and made it nicer and more fairytale-ish than the book. The performances are great and very touching and it makes me want to drop everything right now and go watch it again LOL! Thanks for the vid! 💕
I love this idea for videos! Looking forward to more 5 Book Fridays. And you have sold me on reading the Lady Vanishes I must hunt her books down now. I also find that the more time and attention I give to my reading the less I am entertained by movies and TV. They just dont compare to books!
I love this video series idea. I love cozy mysteries and the books that Miranda’s Bookcase highlights but I read a few last year that I felt were cozy , at least in a way. I found a cozy family series written by Pamela Kelley beginning with The Nantucket Inn. I’m not a big romance reader but these are sweet cozy family stories with a little light romance thrown in. I love Rosamunde Pilcher and Miss Read And Jan Karon and all of their books are cozy beautiful stories. I also read The incredible Winston Brown that is such a poignant touching story. I read it early in 2021 and loved it, it still resonates with me. There were some difficult parts and I did cry in spite, but it was such a beautiful story. Thank you for sharing all of your recommendations with us💕
Thanks so much, Sandy, for all of these recommendations. I always love Miranda's selections- they are the perfect coziness. I'm the same about romance. I like sweet stories with a little romance thrown in and even the name, Nantucket Inn, sounds perfect. ❤
I've read all of Rosamunde Pilcher's books over the years, and re-read Winter Solstice last year. This year I hope to re-read her book, Coming Home (a WWII story that was written long before WWII books were so popular). The James Herriot books are all wonderful, as is the new PBS series!
What a great idea, Mitzi! I have so many favorite cozy reads! 😂🤷🏻♀️ The Blue Castle and Jane of Lantern Hill jump to mind immediately. I loooove The Enchanted April and have reread it a few times.
I’ve heard of The Lady Vanishes but had never heard of the author until now. I feel like I must read this now! Sounds very Christie-esque! It makes me so sad when it gets difficult to find these brilliant authors. Mrs Pettigrew is another I really want to get too! What a fab five! I’ll be tuning into this series for sure. The movie never quite lives up to the book in my experience either!
My favorite cozy reads are Alexander McCall Smith's books, especially the #1 Ladies Detective Agency series. Reading these books is like spending time with old friends. They are mysteries but no murder's are involved.
I love this series you are doing on your channel and I will look forward to these videos on Fridays. I just got the ebook of Miss Pettigrew and The Lady Vanishes based on your reviews. I had some amazone digital credits that I needed to use anyway and both of these sound so good. I can’t wait to read them. I need to reread All Creatures. My mom introduced me to his books when I was a child and I remember loving them. Winter Solstice sounds like a perfect read for next December. I hope you have a great weekend!
I love this video so much!😍 I am adding The Lady Vanishes and The Enchanted April to my very soon to read books🤗 I adore Miss Pettigrew. Thanks so much for the wonderful recommendations!💕
Hey Mitzi, I loved Miss Pettigrew, and loved the movie Enchanted April with a great cast! All Creatures Great and Small was so adorable and the show was just as good and funny! Enjoy 😉
This is a great idea for a video series! And a great start! And of course you wanted to read the book before you watched the movie - you're a book lover! But you're right - the movie is never as good as the book! I haven't read Miss Pettigrew yet, but I really want to. I've been hearing about it for years. I haven't read Rosamunde Pilcher yet, either. Winter Solstice sounds wonderful. And Enchanted April is another books I have heard SO much before but haven't read it! Great list! I need to get cozy!!
I'm the same, Sue. I hear about these books and then just keep adding more and more to my list. But that means we have plenty of great options ahead. 😊
This video just came up in my recommendations and so I thought it was new! 😅 Anyway, I don't remember if I ever saw this one or not and it was great! I still haven't read any James Herriot. I will also add Winter Solstice to my list as well. I know you've mentioned it other times too.
And Enchanted April--yes! The start of that book was so deliciously funny. I buddy read that one for March of the Moderns last year--which will be MAY of the Moderns for 2022--since you also had Miss Pettigrew on this list, you might be interested in participating? 1901-1945-published reads in the month of May! 😍
I wanted to love miss pettigrew but it didn’t work for me for some reason 🤷♀️ I am glad you liked it! ☺️ I haven’t read any pilcher yet. Will have to look into winter solstice.
Yay! I read Winer Solstice several years ago and really enjoy Rosamunde Pilcher's many works...meant to reread that one this past holiday but got run over by family get-togethers--not complaining! :P
I love Rosamunde Pilcher and would recommend Coming Home by her if you don’t mind a chunky book! I have read a book by Ethel Lina White called The Third Eye which I purchased from the publishers Greyladies so may be worth a look at their website for similar titles?! Looking forward to more videos in this style 😊
Hello Mitzi: I'm also a movie buff. You must see the Hitchcock movie THE LADY VANISHES...Margaret Lockwood and Michael Redgrave. A great thriller. Regards, Gerard Denza Author of the Edward Mendez series
Rosamunde Pilcher’s book The Shell Seekers is a fantastic read!
The Enchanted April movie is pretty good and has gorgeous scenery!
You had me at gorgeous scenery- That's why I play Escape to the Country episodes all the time. 😂

I think you would love The Lady Vanishes! It is very Christie-esque.
I’ve only read one novel by Rosamunde Pilcher. I have her booked titled September on my TBR list. It says there was a tv mini series based on it.
My favorite cozy reads are Alexander McCall Smith's books, especially the #1 Ladies Detective Agency series. Reading these books is like spending time with old friends. They are mysteries but no murder's are involved.
I need to try that one! Thanks!

Hey Mitzi, I loved Miss Pettigrew, and loved the movie Enchanted April with a great cast! All Creatures Great and Small was so adorable and the show was just as good and funny! Enjoy 😉
Yes, that show is one I actually enjoy! It's so much the same feel as the book version.

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the Miss Pettigrew book and how much I didn't like the movie lol. Sometimes it's the mood I'm in- who knows? 😂
Hi. Love your list and added them all to my TBR. How the Penguins Saved Veronica is one of my favorite cozy books. ❤️
Thanks! I'll add that one to my list. ❤

Yes, Margaret, that's a good problem to have- happy you were able to spend time with family. Happy New Year and Happy Reading!
@@mitzireadsandwrites Same to you 🥂
Fun idea for a series. I love Miss Pettigrew!
Thanks, Krista! I'm hoping these small segments will keep me organized- too many books to talk about. 😂

I love that one! Thanks! Once I read the book, then I watched the Hitchcock and the more recent adaptation, but I prefer Hitchcock.
Very nice Sharing my dear respected friend full support and big likes from Ahmed Ali Nizamani.......
