I’ve noticed this problem with some NG Model planes too, I recently received a Boeing 767-200 for American Airlines that when I took it out of the box, the left wing was detached and the landing gear under the right wing was broken off too. I’ve also had this happen with the very first model plane I got, which was a Gemini Jets American 737-800 back in 2019 which I had to put back together using super glue.
This was a full course meal of a video. Enjoyed it. Very professional. As a 1:200 collector I don’t see as many problems as 1:400 people do. I got the 2018 American 737 in the old livery to and the wings weren't on the plane :/ the landing gear too... so yeah ik how it is. It was in the same extent of damage as your, if not worst! Too bad I can't return it. I was even gonna make a vid about it on my other channel. If had many Gemini Jets which came bRoKEn! But yeah I'm switching to NG Models as I see now after this video that well, Gemini Jets isn't really to scale. But yeah awesome video man! I totally agree with everything in here Keep it up! This was a really well done video! Seems like a Casey Neistat vid.
@@Aviation18 Yeah your American 737-800 really did come like mine, No front landing gear, wings were off and mine actually didn't have the tail glued on either. Conclusion, if you don't wanna be disappointed when buying a model go with NG.
I had the same problem when I brought the BA A321neo the wings both fell off I thought I broke it at first but I put a bit of superglue in the hole and put the wing back in and hasn’t fell out since
@Phillip Fortin maybe but does it say on the box, ahh well if it comes broken well its all good mate just glue it back in, its just not really acceptable, that and the NEO sized engines have really just crossed the line for me, anyway
I had my first and only Gemini Jets when I was 7. It was a Corsair 747-300 and a Delta A330. I admit, I did play with it a bit, but I sure handles it with care. I was unaware on how fragile it was. The A330's engine ripped off, its nose gear is missing, along with one of its main gears. For the 747, all of the stabilizers are gone, and the Outer main gears are missing. I never touched them since.
I have been buying these planes for a while and were always good, but this explains why the guy in the shop always opens the box and checks the plane before selling it to me. I always wondered. Also, I changed to Herpa Wings and also scale 1:500 instead of Gemini 1:400. The range was bigger and no plastic wings
I've worked in customer service during my life enough to know that the way Gemini is currently operating is opening them up for a fall. Customer service isn't brain surgery; there's a simple acronym to explain the proper process: L.E.A.R.N. > 1. Listen to the customer (really hear them), 2. Empathize (put yourself in their situation and let them know you understand their issue). 3. Apologize (self explanatory), 4. React/Resolve (correct the mistake), 5. Notify (communicate that you've heard the issue and will help others to make sure it doesn't happen again). It's really that simple.
My very first Gemini United 737 MAX 9 came in broken... but besides that the max mold is pretty good. GeminiJets' quality has definitely decreased since 2015. I'm switching to NG if they make more molds. Great video, interesting to hear it from your perspective.
How times change. In the mid 1990's I intended to buy three 1/200 scale airliner models of the 1950's, DC-7, L-1049 and Boeing 377. All these models were hand made, low volume and quite expensive. It didn't stop there, I bought several more until I realised that the quality was not what it could be. On a visit to the hobby shop which used to be located in the LHR Sheraton I saw for the first time the "novel" 1/400 scale models being produced. The assistant offered me a magnifying glass to better examine the model. It was Geminijets no.1 an original colour scheme Virgin Atlantic 747 costing £19.99. For the next 10 years I regularly added to the collection, visiting Windy Road on two occasions, before retail sales were handed to a model retailer. The staff were helpful and friendly and on both occasions the "boss" gave me a lift in his big white pick-up to the nearby shopping mall. It seems Geminijets has gone the way of those other model makers.
my Boeing 737-800 for sun country airlines came without the front landing gear. not just the fact that it was gone, there was no evidence it was even installed. it just showed the doors, and the bottom.
Oh and sorry for your American 737-800 at 1:11. Did you fix it. [ I hope you did ] :) One more thing: You mentioned the 1:400 scales having these problems, does it apply to the 1:200 scales having the same problems as the 1:400 scales.
What's great is that if someone in Ngs comments says something like "you should make a Lufthansa a350" and then they will reply with either "welldo it" or "sure" and then the next month they come out with that very model
I just got my AA 777 300ER and its been sitting on my desk, been dorkin around with it and let me 2 year old Nephew hold it. He kinda pushed it around the table and grabbed it by the tail. The right fin of the horizontal stabilizer broke off lol. Sure didnt take much for that to break.
As of today I do think Gemini Jets has improved when it comes to quality control. However, I do dislike the pricing of their aircrafts these days..(It might be due to the recent skyrocket in inflation.)
My first two Gemini models were broken around 5 years ago, but that's it. The BA Trident had detached wings, and the Court Line 1-11 had a nose wheel that ended up being lost on the floor of the airplane store as I opened the box.
This happened to me too! I got a Gemini jets United 773 for my bday and the whole wing section was disconnected! Luckily it could be glued back on, but really weird and I thought that only happened to me! But I guess not. Btw, the model I’m talking about is the one in my vids.
Not sure if mine could be considered a quality issued. But recently I bought 1/400 scale model of Cebu Pacific Airbus A321neo RP-C4118. as far as I'm aware only Gemini Jets and Phoenix make 1:400 scale model of Cebu Pacific aircraft and have yet to hear about a Phoenix A321neo model being release. Now the model itself was excellent it was well detailed, the mold itself was also good. The main issue I have was the landing gears in the wing area the left gear was hard to moved which required a bit of force for it to turn the right gear on the other hand won't turn at all and maybe damaged if I try to fix it! I'm currently waiting for another Cebu Pacific A321 to become available online will probably get Phoenix A321-200 1/400 scale model either RP-C4111 or RP-C4113? Also I'll be soon receiving another Gemini Jets model this time a Philippine Airlines Airbus A321neo RP-C9930 hoping its in a better quality then the Cebu Pacific A321neo.
Thanks for posting this video. I use to be buy Gemini Jets in the early 2000’s to 2012. I was thinking of getting back in the hobby and bought a new model expecting high quality stuff but saw a tiny piece fall of my 747 and thought that was weird and thought this was maybe that 1 plane that bought with something wrong with it but because of this video I will rethink if I go back into this hobby.
I bought a Alaskan Airlines Gemini Jet and the second I tried to pick it up and put it in my airport, the wings and all the engines fell right off. That was the first and only time my mom bought me Gemini Jets. I stick with the reliable Daron Planes Company which is 10/10
I started buying inflight 200 models (I collect 1/200 models) after my Delta 737-900 had its stabilizer detached and I had modeling glue to put it back together. Then when I got my A321 the nose gear would come off if I turned it in one direction. I really wish NG would make 1:200 models that weren’t Regional Jets.
I remember getting a Gemini 1:200(boeing 777) model Five years ago, and how it fell apart because I pulled it out of the package. Gemini 1:200 models are supposed to be in one piece when unpacked
For me I’ve, for the most part, had perfect conditioned models from Northwest Airlink BAe-146/RJ-85 all the way to the beautiful Delta 747-400. I have a total of 23 1:400 scale models, 21 are GeminiJets, 1 is a Hogan B747 Dreamlifter (not my fault, front landing gear fell of same day it arrived), and 1 Herpa Wings Etihad A340-600 with the Formula One livery (which came absolutely destroyed beyond belief!(might make a video that’s how bad it is)). I have three damaged GeminiJets models, one is a Delta B737-700 with chipped paint, missing front landing gear wheels and a missing antenna for WiFi system. All of this because it was my first model I ever got and was 10 years old. My second damaged GeminiJets model is a British Airways B757-200 Open Skies Livery only missing the front left wheel on front landing gear. (My fault, got snagged in the carpet) My final damaged model is the most recent (2 years ago), when I got a China Southern A380-800 and two and a half weeks later the front landing gear fell off all of a sudden (not my fault, fell off when I was holding the model in mid air). Then a week after that the top left part of the right winglet fell of (idk if it was me). I’m not saying this video is wrong at all, I might have to switch to an other company before I get ripped off. Thanks for making the video, it shed some light on my future purchases.
Fantastic video, I can really tell you made this with deep knowledge. Trying to be constructive is hard, but this is perfect. Gemini Jets needs to make changes, because the competition is coming very fast, and Gemini sits still. I can tell that this a bit Casey Neistat and love the ending with JonTron.
Looking back on this now GJ has gotten a lot better. I didn’t know what GJ was during the GJ vs NG situation. This is one of my new favorite videos from you aviation 18.
Aviation 18 I think your right about this, I only have Gemini models currently, but I’m open to trying other company’s, such as Aeroclassics, or NG for example, I have 11 models from Gemini currrently, and at least 5 have had issues of some extent. I also have 2 more delta 737’s on the way, and if they have issues too, I might be forced to make a decision I didn’t want to have to make, and that is... switch brands to buy from, Gemini’s lack of southwest models currently is a little upsetting to me specifically, and probably some other collectors as well. I believe we share similar opinions on Gemini’s quality control issue with huge airbus engines that are downright terrible looking on the 1:400’s and some parts falling off on other models. Gemini started out as a small company with very high quality products, but now with the demand increase in their products, they’ve chosen quantity over quality, which is not a great choice for them, as they’re losing some long time and new patrons from this scandal, they need to listen to their consumers and fix their products, otherwise their time as a successful business might just be cut short!! (Thank you if you read this all the way through) have a great day fellow avgeeks!!
When I buy gemini jets, I always get the models pre 2010 or around that era because that's when the quality of the models where high and robust. Now I still respect gemini jets but the quality of the models now are appalling. They need to make a move on if they want to beat rival companies
Wow this video is very well edited and done thanks for taking the name I suggested on ig it worked amazing this is probably your best video and it’s so true I feel like every one should send this vid to Gemini jets
Ouch! I found this after purchasing one online and the rear tail not being attached on and a380 rare one. I have recently started buying these models again in January. I used to collect ones from in flight stores whilst on the planes, but they were 1:500. I have since bought at least 11 Gemini jet ones. The ride height doesn’t bother me tbh but I do like the attention to details. I have some JC Wings ones too and the odd Phoenix models too. I’ll be keeping an eye out for this though now I e seen your video but ones I have are in the 777/787/747/a340/A350/A380 era. So far they have been good apart from 1 A380. Thanks for the video though.
congratulations, i like the video... They will hear you, (I hope so :)) I have the same opinion, I am a classic plane model collector, but in some of my current models, comes whit this kind of defects........ despite this, I´m still prefer GeminiJets as one of the best airplane manufactur.
Wow. I love airplanes and was looking for something to get into and I stumbled upon your channel about half a year ago and have amassed a sizable collection of gemini jets ever since. It really hurts that they've gone down hill, and it kinda makes me regret getting them due to their value kinda going down. If it means anything though, I've never had a problem with the models I've bought (build quality wise) whether I bought them directly from gemini jets or from a third party retailers. I always make sure that the seller I buy them from is highly rated and that the product is new.
GeminiJets13 had the same thing as my American A321 I got mine for Christmas and the person who gave it to me felt really bad but I just super glued it. It looks fine now but they really need to fix that.
I only have 1 NGModel so far. A 1:400 A330 released a couple months ago. I love the detail and finish, but noticed the connection between the engines and the wing seem soft/malleable. As if it’s partly plastic. As a result, I have to be careful not to grab the model by the engines. Have you experienced the same? Thoughts?
Another problem with a lot of GeminiJets models is that the nose gear tends to be extremely wonky - I own a DC-8 and a 787-8, and both of them suffer from this problem, where the strut the wheels are connected to appears to be slightly bent to the left or to the right.
Appreciative of how annoying this was to upload. UA-cam being annoying and claiming everything. I agree with your opinion on GJ. I absolutely am posting my own complaint too after I received a broken GJ model straight from the company.
So i compleatly agree with his points as ive expirienced this in person at the gemeni jets store in miami. I went there in december to get some present models for chrismas and i had my eyes on a 737 800 from american airlines in the old livery and it cost me a little over 100 bucks with taxes and the guy was giving it to me and i wanted to see it before i brought it home (past insidents from buying from daron and other plane model stores) and the stabalizers on the back were broken off the plane and with the landing gear rippen off when he opend up the box. I mean i love gemeni as there pretty good but i payed 105 usd for a model that was broken. The guy was an amazing emploey and returned my plane and got me another one (which was intact) and i just ask myself what would happen if i opened it in our apartament and relised that it was broken and they could have blamed it on us and said that we did it. like that didnt happen but i could have and you dont just find 105 bucks on the ground its very annoing for collectors that this happens alot. But they have been emproving there model molds resently which is good and i hope they keep improving. (sorry for grammar i suck at spelling)
I got my first model a few months ago and when I unboxed it one of the front landing gear was missing, I felt a little cheated from gemini jets but after seeing the stuff in this video I feel lucky that all I had was a tiny little wheel missing
I have a 1/200 delta 777-200LR and a Air France A340-300 when I was 11, and my A340 nose gear has fallen after 3 years because the axle is rusted. But the 777 is still perfect without any fallen parts. Recently I buy GJ again and I found many stain on my new ATR72, but there is no such flaw on my old 777 and A340. I wonder why?
Gemini jets do need to step up there game I have had 2 damaged Gemini jets models ‘airfrance 787 and a etihad 777’ I’m sort of fed up as you say that so many people are paying so much for the Gemini jets ‘as real as it gets’ models I feel as if Todd and the rest of the Gemini jets managers are just taking money and giving out slop Unthought NG are still a great company Gemini jets are actually cheaper As for new releases I can buy the air Baltic a220 for £30 whilst the cheapest ng model I can find are priced £35-£40 (not sure if it’s because I live in uk and exporting) But anyway I believe that Gemini can do a lot better and get back to making models we can say that we truly love instead of opening a box with a look on you face that says ‘ why the f*** did I pay $40 for this overall NG :) GJ :(
Wow! After watching iv'e never had an bad experience with any of my GeminiJets models at all, the only time iv'e had a bad experience is when i accidentally dropped the model and either an engine broke off or a nose gear or a back wing came off. I wonder if the mail service people are just throwing there packages and not being careful?
SFO_Plane_Spotter well the way we know it’s Gemini and not the mail people is because the types of models that do break are breaking everywhere, for example I’ve seen 5 people who have received the AA 737 in the same condition as me, is sad but it’s the truth 😢
So recently I ordered a GeminiJets 1:400 scale United Dash-8 200, brand new in the box, as soon as I opened it I noticed one of the props was missing. It had fallen off in the package. (GeminiJets quality) As I take out the prop and the pin, The pin drops and rolls across the floor never to be seen again.
I got a japan airlines 767 400 for $50 and it came to me with a broken engine and no landing gear I wanted my money back but the didn't do anything even t0hough they sent me a broken plane i still bought there planes but one day about 3 months later I got a $180 Qantas A380 and it came with no tail I now either go to a plane collectors store and buy them there so I can see the condition there in or buy them online with a different brand like Dragon wings and so on
This happened to me with an American A330 and yea i treated it like legos and a toddler intrested what would happen if they were thrown at the wall but i never noticed this was a design problem. Plus it was my first gemni jets aircraft and i still have it with all the wings and landing gear in one place
Wow, I have always gotten a quality Gemini Jet model. I have stepped up to just collecting 1/200 though. As for damaged 1/400 models? Yep, got one. But, I do believe the damage happened during shipment. All in all, I have been a happy Gemini Jet customer since the very first release.
Gemini Jets are looking to squeeze all the money out of you. For example I got a 2020 Dubai Expo A380 for Christmas. High quality then I got a smaller plane less expensive and it was it poor condition. What i'm trying to say is when you but an expensive model from them they want to set a good reputation but then you buy another then well... Its not as good
Finally someone said something about Gemini jets honestly as a model collector throughout these years I’ve predicted that GJ would be complacent and choosing to promoted mainly only to the American market. Now look NG is producing way better moulds. Even JC wings is catching up and Phoenix is maintaining you can say so. Serves GJ right
You have to put the wings on Gemini Jets now? Wow, that is so stupid. If I’m paying somewhere from $40-$80 for a model plane of that detail, I want the plane in tac. What happened to them? I haven’t ordered a Gemini Jet since 2014, but after seeing this, I might start looking at NG models. I wouldn’t want Gemini Jets to go under, but this is bad. They need to refresh everything. Customer service, how they package models, and quality.
Please bear in mind that to some extent this is opinion based, some people think that there is still nothing wrong with Gemini jets, I appreciate that opinion but this is mine and I have a great backing to share my opinion and try to get the message across to Gemini jets that they need to improve.
Yeh I've seen this problem with a lot of these on Instagram so Gemini jets have some serious work to do
@@Aviation18 Yeah your American 737-800 really did come like mine, No front landing gear, wings were off and mine actually didn't have the tail glued on either. Conclusion, if you don't wanna be disappointed when buying a model go with NG.
I had the same problem when I brought the BA A321neo the wings both fell off I thought I broke it at first but I put a bit of superglue in the hole and put the wing back in and hasn’t fell out since
Yeh its a real bad problem, Gemini jets have a lot of work to do
@Phillip Fortin maybe but does it say on the box, ahh well if it comes broken well its all good mate just glue it back in, its just not really acceptable, that and the NEO sized engines have really just crossed the line for me, anyway
Panda made a very good BA a321neo. Theres two in fact with different regs so theres quite a few available.
What music did you use in the end? More specifically the last song
You should put the broken Gemini jets on the Runway like there was an emergency
Where did you get the audio for the last part of the video pretty sick beat
my Boeing 737-800 for sun country airlines came without the front landing gear. not just the fact that it was gone, there was no evidence it was even installed. it just showed the doors, and the bottom.
A very professionally produced and edited video. You get your point over in a clear and fair way.
Oh and sorry for your American 737-800 at 1:11. Did you fix it. [ I hope you did ] :)
One more thing: You mentioned the 1:400 scales having these problems, does it apply to the 1:200 scales having the same problems as the 1:400 scales.
I have a question. I have 777 with broken one horizontal stabilizer, and there is my question: with what glue i can stick it?
As of today I do think Gemini Jets has improved when it comes to quality control. However, I do dislike the pricing of their aircrafts these days..(It might be due to the recent skyrocket in inflation.)
This was one of the most impressively edited videos I've seen of yours. Your work paid off my friend.
Ahh Thanks mate, that means a lot
Where can I buy NG models? Do you have any link to website?
My first two Gemini models were broken around 5 years ago, but that's it. The BA Trident had detached wings, and the Court Line 1-11 had a nose wheel that ended up being lost on the floor of the airplane store as I opened the box.
i just got my delta crj-200 model yesterday and when i opened it the horizontal stabilzers were broken off in the box
This happened to me too! I got a Gemini jets United 773 for my bday and the whole wing section was disconnected! Luckily it could be glued back on, but really weird and I thought that only happened to me! But I guess not. Btw, the model I’m talking about is the one in my vids.
Great video and loved the Extreme tune at the end!
Nice video man, couldn’t agree more! Also no way about the $40! I got $30 back from Lufthansa and bought a Lufthansa a380🤣🤣
I actually have a pretty good record with Gemini jets. I've only received 2 or 3 broken models in the decade I've been collecting
6:56 Is that plane NG models DHL 757 G-DHKO?
My American 737 chrome livery has smudges, antenna fell out, engines coming off, chipped tail, flexy stabilizers, just a horrible model.
Haha
I'm currently waiting for another Cebu Pacific A321 to become available online will probably get Phoenix A321-200 1/400 scale model either
RP-C4111 or RP-C4113? Also I'll be soon receiving another Gemini Jets model this time a Philippine Airlines Airbus A321neo RP-C9930 hoping its in a better quality then the Cebu Pacific A321neo.
I have that A380 too but it hasn’t appeared on my UA-cam channel yet
I Feel Sad watching This❤😢😢😢😢😢😢 I have Gemini jets models but none of mine are broken
Thanks for posting this video. I use to be buy Gemini Jets in the early 2000’s to 2012. I was thinking of getting back in the hobby and bought a new model expecting high quality stuff but saw a tiny piece fall of my 747 and thought that was weird and thought this was maybe that 1 plane that bought with something wrong with it but because of this video I will rethink if I go back into this hobby.
how do you get all the compay aiminiaturesrplane
I bought a Alaskan Airlines Gemini Jet and the second I tried to pick it up and put it in my airport, the wings and all the engines fell right off. That was the first and only time my mom bought me Gemini Jets. I stick with the reliable Daron Planes Company which is 10/10
Herpa would call this Snapfit😂👌
LMFAOOO
I started buying inflight 200 models (I collect 1/200 models) after my Delta 737-900 had its stabilizer detached and I had modeling glue to put it back together. Then when I got my A321 the nose gear would come off if I turned it in one direction. I really wish NG would make 1:200 models that weren’t Regional Jets.
This was incredible, absolutely incredible job, you made the point nice and clear, very good job loved this video!
I expected Aviation18 to heart this comment 😂
(My fault, got snagged in the carpet)
My final damaged model is the most recent (2 years ago), when I got a China Southern A380-800 and two and a half weeks later the front landing gear fell off all of a sudden (not my fault, fell off when I was holding the model in mid air). Then a week after that the top left part of the right winglet fell of (idk if it was me).
I’m not saying this video is wrong at all, I might have to switch to an other company before I get ripped off. Thanks for making the video, it shed some light on my future purchases.
Very nice and explanatory. 👍
what is the song starting from 10:35? Just curious nice gemini jets video btw :)
4 years later, just seeing this - do you think the company has listened or done anything to improve since then?
Despite being posted in 2019, the topics discussed in the video are even more prevalent in 2022. Can't belive geminijets hasn't taken the hint
Hi i Have an question when i order old model of Gemini jets delta 747 it Will be broken or it Will be good
It should be fine
@@Aviation18 thank you i love your videos
@@Aviation18 it was Fine thanks
Rewatching this video is amazing, so valid my guy, well done
Ahaha, yes, a classic
Why can't we be friends.
Edit: Thanks for the heart!
Wow this video is very well edited and done thanks for taking the name I suggested on ig it worked amazing this is probably your best video and it’s so true I feel like every one should send this vid to Gemini jets
Does NG Models have an official website?
I got Gemini jets 747-8I VC25B and 2 engines came off. 2!! But i don’t think gemini jets does it though.
5:05 so Gemini dosent make boat planes like Canadair CL-215/415’s or Grumman Albatross, or anything like that?
Great video and first model story
Is it bad I replaced all my GeminiJets Virgin Atlantic models with Phoenix & NG 😅
GeminiJets13 had the same thing as my American A321 I got mine for Christmas and the person who gave it to me felt really bad but I just super glued it. It looks fine now but they really need to fix that.
What’s the best brand for 1/400 high quality models
My beluga models was broken in the box😢
Great video! My American Airlines and Pan Am l-1011 came with detached wings as well :(. I think you made a very informative and detailed video!
Thoughts?
The editing🔥🔥🔥
Another problem with a lot of GeminiJets models is that the nose gear tends to be extremely wonky - I own a DC-8 and a 787-8, and both of them suffer from this problem, where the strut the wheels are connected to appears to be slightly bent to the left or to the right.
OH
MY
GOD
A) This is way too relatable
B) The intro was 11/10
Thanks man
Time to make an updated version!
My gemini jet A321neo also got broken but i fixed it so i am:)
Thank you for making this. I am trying to figure out what model to buy from what manufacturer. Is JC Wimgs a good manufacturer? Thanks
they share the same castings as gh so yes and no
yes for details and accuracy
no because their own qc is questionable
Gemini jets do need to step up there game
I have had 2 damaged Gemini jets models ‘airfrance 787 and a etihad 777’
I’m sort of fed up as you say that so many people are paying so much for the Gemini jets ‘as real as it gets’ models
I feel as if Todd and the rest of the Gemini jets managers are just taking money and giving out slop
Unthought NG are still a great company Gemini jets are actually cheaper
As for new releases I can buy the air Baltic a220 for £30 whilst the cheapest ng model I can find are priced £35-£40 (not sure if it’s because I live in uk and exporting)
But anyway I believe that Gemini can do a lot better and get back to making models we can say that we truly love instead of opening a box with a look on you face that says ‘ why the f*** did I pay $40 for this
overall
NG :)
GJ :(
Serves GJ right
Did you order it on ups they throw packages into the back of the truck
You have to put the wings on Gemini Jets now? Wow, that is so stupid. If I’m paying somewhere from $40-$80 for a model plane of that detail, I want the plane in tac. What happened to them? I haven’t ordered a Gemini Jet since 2014, but after seeing this, I might start looking at NG models.
I wouldn’t want Gemini Jets to go under, but this is bad. They need to refresh everything. Customer service, how they package models, and quality.
I’m in the bottom left at 9:06 !!! Can’t believe I got in Aviation 18’s video😄😄😄
