Thanks. Another easy way to remember 25-OH-D3 and 1-25 OH D3 is: we have only one liver so only one (OH). and we have two kidneys so 2 (OH)s for Vit D. Hope this helps :D

  • @kato0291

I remember the Vitamin D forms by noting that for 25-OH-D3, one hydroxy group = one liver, and for 1,25(OH2)-D3, two hydroxy groups = two kidneys.

    D- vit D
    R A- Retinoic Acid ( vit A)
    K- vit K
    E- vit E
so you can include the R in the mnemonic as well
    :)

Listen pillock , they are all fat soluble vitamins. If you are complaining about the retinoic acid it is the same thing as vitamin A , it was just suppose to help with the mnemonic. I guess you probably don't know the difference anyway so what's the point explaining it to a lonely troll who knows how to press a spacebar

Is there a way to update this video because there's definitely some missing information that's now important in Step1 (i.e., how vitamin E deficiency commonly presents like vitamin B12 deficiency). Also, a reminder that getting the fat-soluble vitamins are lost in diseases like Celiacs, CF, etc.
Could you also create a water-soluble vitamin video with all the associated enzyme reactions, deficiency symptoms, etc.?

    • @JasonVaysberg

Yup, I watched this video specifically looking for info about the neuro stuff with vitamin E deficiency since I missed questions about it.

Hmmmm I would remember it as OH2- You have 2 Kidneys. Meaning OH is the Liver and the Liver is where you store bile so that's where is stores Vitamin D.

Just one more thing about vitamin D, you can remember 1,25 OH D3 is in the kidney because that’s where 1 alpha hydroxylase is located (PCT of kidney). Idk that always helped me.

For vitamin D part - excellent I just wish it also included the names. I always get tripped on the names, ie cholecalciferol(D3), ergocalciferol(D2). For Vitamin E I have gotten a few questions on Qbanks making the point that deficiency results in neurological dysfunction due to demyelination of the posterior columns.

How can Vitamin D be essential for the bones if it activates "osteoclasts" ?

    • @hiraali2966
      @hiraali2966 3 роки тому

Although vitamin D activates osteoclasts, it do so to increase calcium in our body and that calcium will help rebuilding bones using Parathyroid hormone. So indirectly the net effect will be bone growth. and too much of Vit D will cause toxicity and bone resorption.
